So handy for the airport - we stayed when we landed at midnight and also the night before we flew home and it’s just a short stroll from the terminal. The rooms were spacious and clean with everything you could need, and the breakfast buffet varied and plentiful.

The key cards only let you get to the floor your room is on. We had 3 rooms, all on different floors, with a 91 year old who needed assistance in one of them. We had a spare key card for his room but I can’t tell you how many trips up and down in the lift I made in the wee small hours after a massive flight, trying to work out which identical key card was which and which one I needed to leave where. It would be lovely if the cards could be programmed to allow you to access each other’s rooms too although I appreciate the extra security.

The staffs were helpful at the hotel from the housekeeping team to the front desk staffs - all were ready to help out. The location of the hotel was superb as it’s so close to the airport. Loved the restaurant upstairs at the hotel, we had our dinner there and it was great to be able to see the planes taking off from there. The credit card percentage is about 2.5% for the hotel which is pretty standard around all hotels in nz so maybe cash will be better option to spend. We had ordered steak and the kids menu - the kids menu was beautifully cooked and so as the steak apart from it was a bit rare vs mid-well and initially missing the sauce but they were really quick in correcting it and also took off some charges for us which was not expected from my perspective so more the appreciation for their standard of quality.

The in-room safe wasn’t able to work due to the lock wasn’t able to be opened during my stay but hopefully they will be able to be fixed later on. We had a bit of issue with the Aircon as it was turning a bit cold around mid-night but when I tried to call the guest service, the phone wasn’t picked up so not sure if it’s supported 24 hours a day like other hotels. My little one was a little cold at night so I had to use our own cloths to try to wrap him up…

Location was key. I've lost count of how many times I have done the midnight pick up of family from the airport. What a treat to finally walk less than 50 meters and be at the doorstep of our hotel! Beautifully stocked mini bar. My dinner in the restaurant was exceptional and not as heavily priced as I thought it could have been. The meal size was impressive, and the service was great. But honestly, what I thought was the coolest thing been a woman who has traveled often over the years. The wee trio pack of sanitary items in the cupboard. Bravo Novotel, this was an extra special addition!! And an organic range, too.

At a push, there could have had more of a movie selection, but that's grasping.

Excellent location, about 100 steps from the airport terminal which was very important when I had a 3:00 check-in time. I liked the bus station being about 10 metres from the front door, and there were frequent buses into Christchurch. The room was comfortable, the bed very comfortable and the shower excellent. The International Antarctic Centre is about 100 metres away, well worth a visit if you have the time.

A coin-operated laundry would be helpful. There was not a lot of choice in the breakfast buffet.

We got a high floor as requested, very clean rooms with a full bar with snacks (fee of course). They had a great restaurant on the top floor that unfortunately we weren't able to eat in, but the view was great as well as the offerings. We were able to get our lattes to go (mine oat) the next morning. The best part is we arrived the afternoon before and were leaving early the next morning. All I had to do is drop off the rental and the car rental shuttle dropped me off at the hotel so I could pick up the family and we walked to the terminal in literally 3 minutes. Airport was right next door, that convenience was amazing!

The room was comfortable, clean, and well presented. We arrived super early to leave our luggage, but they very kindly allowed us to check in.

The bar was understaffed. I went to order a drink at the bar and was told to sit down, and someone would come and take my order. I waited 25 minutes, and when no one came, I went back up, only to be told they were busy and to sit back down. The restaurant was no better. The manager had a face and attitude that she'd rather be anywhere but there. We ate a very basic mediocre meal for too high a price. When we tried to order another drink, the waitress refused as only one person was taking drinks orders. Took the edge off our stay.

Novotel is a lovely stay at Christchurch airport. Very beautifully designed hotel for an airport - it felt immensely clean and well presented in the room. The movie offering on the TV is great - the best we'd had in any accommodation on our 3-week NZ trip. The hotel is literally next to the main airport building too - a 2 minute walk maximum. But we were not interrupted by any loud airplanes during our stay. Didn't hear a single one. There is also a robot who brings you food for room service - was cute and cool to see. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Pro tip: if you book the breakfast but your plane means you need to leave before 6am, then the hotel provides a packed brekky for you to take to the airport instead.

Nothing. Novotel was great for an airport stay and we'd definitely stay again.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Novotel Christchurch Airport! The modern building itself is striking, and the convenience of being so close to the airport was a huge plus. Everything felt clean and new, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I especially enjoyed dining in the restaurant with its fantastic views of the airport. It was also really cool to see them embracing technology with robot cleaners and even a robot delivering room service - a fun and futuristic touch!

I did overlook that the car park was paid (around $30 per night), which was a slight surprise. Also, the ticket machine was a bit faulty and needed a manual code, but it wasn't a major issue. The restaurant was quite busy the night we dined, but the staff were very accommodating and found us a comfortable spot in the bar area.

A very comfy stay after a long trip and before a flight. A bit of luxury. Quiet, good breakfast, lush bed and pillows. Lovely rain shower with separate toilet door. Extremely clean and modern. Great view from the restaurant at any time.

Power points are very close to the bedside table which means big chunky plugs don’t fit. I was lucky that I had a long enough cords to go across the room to a plug that had space underneath it so I could use a medical device and charge my tech. They should rectify this or supply an extension cord that fits in those plugs.

Room was awesome. Very modern and clean. Good gym. Perfect for a short 'covered' walk to the airport terminal. The restaurant on the 6th floor was excellent. Great views of the runways. Food was good. Waiting staff very attentive. Team of chefs seem to work together very efficiently and speedily. Had an early morning flight. The hotel has a luggage trolly park but there were no trolleys. The Concierge on duty ran about 100 meters and returned with several. I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a pleasant start to their journey or for their arrival. Full marks.
