We enjoyed our stay at Monastero di Cortona Hotel although it was a little tricky to access because it is situated high on the hill within the walls of Cortona. There is parking available at the hotel for an extra (quite large)sum, however the streets to access that parking are VERY steep and narrow. Parking outside the walls of Cortona is at a premium and it is very hard to find a spot - I can't imagine what it would be like in the high season! (Impossible!) We loved the breakfast which was fresh and made to order from a menu rather than the buffet typical of many other hotels, and all the staff are an absolute delight.

Our room was large and comfortable however we were sad not to have tea/coffee making facilities in our room or somewhere else in the hotel such as a lounge area perhaps. It is also a problem for people with restricted mobility to have the shower within the bathtub.

The Hotel was gorgeous. We booked the spa, massage, and sauna on our travel day (1st day) and it was wonderful after a long travel from USA. Everything was top notch here for a boutique hotel. Easily the best hotel to stay in Cortona. We stayed there for 2 nights. The staff was very helpful in giving us directions and recommendations in the city.

Contact the hotel before driving into the city. DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS! They will send you a video on where to drive. You have to enter the city gates in a special area to make it easily to the hotel. I do not recommend having a large vehicle as the streets were made for horses and carts when it was built.

Beautiful building, stunning decoration. Location was lovely with amazing views. They completely pampered you. The spa was gorgeous, very tastefully done in keeping with the building. We only stayed two nights but they changed all the bedding and towels the first morning, everything was so clean and all of the staff were so friendly.

I knew it was on a hill when booking, but it might be an idea to offer a golf caddy up and down to the town. It’s a very tough hill walk. I also think they need larger signs to locate the hotel by car. It took us ages to find it. However reception went out of their way to help us in the end. I think coffee making facilities in the room would be nice. Water was put in the room both days.

Extremely helpful, polite, and friendly staff. They were always doing their best to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Amazing breakfast! Very interesting remodeled historical building, well taken care of and clean. Pool outside was also really nice with a wonderful sunset view from the hilltop.

Had to ask in the front desk to boost the ac on the second night since the lower temperature threshold appeared to be locked. Spa is not necessarily worth paying for the visit if you are not using their other services since the water in the pool is not really warm, and other than that you just have a sauna and a Turkish bath. Both front desk and spa staff were very friendly when issues were brought up.

Beautiful hotel, room was spacious and very nicely furnished and decorated. All staff were very nice and helpful. Great bar with a wonderful barkeeper. Nice, quiet location with beautiful views.

Nothing major, but a couple of small inconveniences: the wall-mounted blow dryer was heavy, had a short power cord, and required holding down a button continuously to operate. It would have been a nice touch to have a Nespresso-style coffee machine instead of just a kettle and instant coffee.

The Hotel was absolutely beautiful, breakfast was good, grounds were very nice, Staff in general were very pleasant and accommodating. Shout-out to Alice at the front desk and Giovanni who were both excellent and went above and beyond.

Location, any walk into town had to be followed by a return trip to the hotel up steep hills. Parking. Lots outside of town were full and only parking available was in the hotel's garage and that was an adventure by itself and made it prohibitive to take the car out for any day trips.

The hotel and its location are amazing, sitting high on the hills overlooking Cortona. The hotel and spa are elegant, and the staff are focused on providing high-quality services. Alice on the front desk was exceptionally helpful as I had a dental emergency while I was there. She made arrangements for me to see a local dentist on short notice. Everyone at the resort is focused on attentiveness to every detail. I highly recommend you visit.

We really loved our stay here, it was a wonderful hotel with knowledgeable and attentive staff. The food in the restaurant is fantastic and breakfast can keep you going until dinner time. The room was spacious, clean, air-conditioned and was regularly serviced. Make sure to have a cocktail or a glass of wine at the bar - the team are very knowledgable and skilled.

The only downfall to this lovely hotel is the quality of the spa. I like that you have to book a slot - it prevents it being overcrowded which is nice. However, the general quality of fixtures does not match the rest of the hotel. The steam room and sauna are not that warm. The massage was great but ended quite abruptly. Many other spas I've been to have provided water or tea after the massage or a place to stop and relax for 10 minutes . I think this would be a nice addition and make the spa feel as luxurious as the hotel.

The visit was preceded by cheerful and professional communications with staff member Iulia. It is a little challenging to get to this property through the narrow streets of Cortona by car and so Iulia guided us aptly to the inside garage during a brief a cell call. The property itself is spectacular and without exception, the staff is friendly, unpretentious and eager to please. The property began life as a 13th century monastery, but was tastefully and elegantly renovated, sparing no detail or expense, beginning in 2009 and finishing up in 2018 just before Covid hit. Clearly the owners must have been disappointed to spend a large sum with little return upon opening. There is no doubt that the staff and the surroundings will encourage you to return. The facility is immaculately kept. The beds seemed new and were comfortable. There is an attractive courtyard with plunge pool at one end and an amply shaded area for outdoor dining at breakfast opposite. An indoor lounge just outside a well appointed indoor dining area fir dinner was adorned with tapestry and frescoes providing ample room. There is a wonderful underground thermal spa on the premises. Carolina, Claudio, Ilario and others whose names did not fully register, delivered expert service with smiles all around.

There is really nothing not to like about our experience at the property. Cortona is a walled city at an elevation of 1700 feet, so one must be prepared to brave the winding hill climb and enter the city with care if one is driving in on one's own as we have done. I've struggled to find something not to like and this is all I can come up with. ;-) I happen to love old-world hilltop towns steeped in culture and history. The Monastero Di Cortona Hotel & Spa was exceptional. We got lost in the old city upon arrival and when we called the hotel for help, the staff happily walked to our location, jumped into the car and directed us to our location. We were just around the corner, but didn't know it! The staff were universally incredibly friendly and genuinely kind, which made our stay that much more memorable and enjoyable. Our room had a wonderful view and the bed was so inviting with super soft luxurious sheets. Breakfast was complete with lots of options and was delicious, often taking us through the day. Easy walking access to wonderful restaurants and all the sights of the old city. I encourage dining at the Hotel as the restaurant is superb and the service outstanding. Plunge pool was larger than expected and wonderful to enjoy after a day of sightseeing. Five star service at every level!
