The location was excellent! We seemed to be central to absolutely everything & no where was far by foot! Our room was opposite a quiet courtyard & we slept really well! The room was comfortable & spacious. This was one of the main reasons we chose to book this hotel as many other hotels had reviews saying people couldn’t sleep due to local noise. I can assure you we did not hear a thing & slept soundly at Hotel La Scaletta, it was a welcome escape from our energetic lively days! 😆 The views from the roof top were also breathtakingly beautiful. We didn’t book dinner in advance & so they were fully booked unfortunately. We were able to have drinks earlier on the balcony & roof top however, so at least we could get to see & enjoy the views.

Nothing! We loved everything about the hotel! If I were to make only one very small comment - it would be that we found the roof top bar staff a little young & inexperienced! It didn’t really affect our enjoyment however! We loved our stay in every way!

Beautiful old building - we had a ground floor room that opened on to a lovely courtyard garden. Unbelievably quiet considering the location. Lovely staff, great location

Only small things but considering it's now 4 stars worth mentioning. No hanging space for anything long, no drawers of any kind, just shelves, teeny table beside bed not a proper bedside table. Great to have a kettle but only 1 coffee, 1 milk, 1 teabag each which seemed unbelievably mean! Small bottles of water provided first day but never again. It's so lovely in every other respect- just seems a bit cheapskate

Every staff member greeted and treated us pleasantly, professionally, warmly, and helpfully. The roofdeck is simply spectacular. The sumptuous breakfast buffet up there was an easy choice throughout our stay, and we decompressed from travel with a cocktail and sunset views the afternoon we arrived. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the location is central and handy to all our destinations. My daughter loved gazing out those tall windows in our room.

We just wish we could have stayed longer! The building is stairs-dependent and a little maze-like, which was fine for us and kind of entertaining. May not be for everyone, access-wise, but we loved it.

When paying my bill the receptionist got very angry that I couldn't pay the city tax in cash. I had trouble with the ATM which would not dispense cash. What could I do? I was happy to pay it but did not appreciate being told off in such a manner. No need for this. All the other staff were fantastic.

Ideal location, close to everything but just far enough away to avoid the hoards of tourists on the other side of the Arno. You can walk here from the train station in under half an hour. The Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace are only a few steps away. We had a very comfortable room with a well appointed bathroom, including a rainhead shower that produces plenty of hot water. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. A nice fellow took our bags and showed us to our room, which was great, because the elevator is only big enough for two people, and we would’ve wandered around looking for our room.

The service - front desk who checked us in (gentleman, sadly I didn't get his name) was friendly and, on the first night, walked us directly to the room and gave us useful hotel and area tips. Location & Price & decore - all A+. The room was always made by midday, strong air-conditioning, so rooms stayed cold (welcomed in the Italian heat) , great hot / cold shower with strong water pressure. Loby and room decor were tasteful and not overwhelming. TLDR - great service and fantastic value. Highlights include room cleaniess, room fuction, decor, and location. Would book again.

To start. The location was great. The the property was beautiful. Close to public transport Close to súper market. Their roof top restairant is superb. The staff was excelente. They helped us with the rooms. We had booked smaller rooms because we did not realize in pictures. They realized we did it in error. So they moved us to other rooms. We appreciate them. The lady at the counter was very supportive and Lorenzo or rodrigo not sure. Helped us with the property tour. Thank you again.

There was nothing that we did not like

Located between the Ponte Vecchio and Boboli Gardens, it's a stones throw away from most of the Florentian points of interest. Osterias, trattorias, ristorantes all within a short walk so you have to worries getting food - you don't have to purchase breakfast with the room. It was very fortunate of us to get a free upgrade to a luxury suite! Thank you for that!

Parking nearby as a staging point to head out to other Tuscan towns can be challenging. Book well ahead!

The breakfast was one of the best. They will NOT let you take anything out of there for the day to eat! I did not get to try the lunch or evening meals as I was on tours the days I stayed. I would have loved to see the rooftop terrace view, but my cell phone stopped receiving service on a tour with 'GetYourGuide' (no one else's stopped receiving service) and I spent my last evening stay trying to connect with Verizon to fix the issue (NO GPS). the very next day my cell phone was stolen on the train.

Be careful on the subway and trains these pick-pockets work together and will steal whatever they can get their hands on. This is NOT a joke? My cell phone iPhone 15 Pro Max (Florence) was stolen as a Disneyland Paris ballcap. I am still amazed that a local would steal a souvenir for a tourist (Roma). They also can not do anything the the iPhone 15s due to all of the security. The taxi to and from this hotel are also outrageously priced and it is NOT within walking distance from the train station by any means. Leaving the train station there are a lot of steps. The lift (elevator) is tiny (one person and maybe two bags).

I was on the second floor which meant stairs or a small elevator. It was great and I loved the hotel. The location is unreal and the Oltrano area feels little less touristy. Florence is super busy on the Ponte Vecchio and near the Duomo so it was nice to be close but far enough away from the busy crowd. The terrace has an unreal view of the Duomo and the hills behind Florence.

It can be challenging to navigate the stairs and elevator if your on the upper floors. I would say try and ask for a ground floor room if you don't feel like climbing. The hotel room was great and it was the second time I stayed at this hotel.
