I recently stayed at Hotel Bristol in Genoa and had a very good experience overall. This is a truly beautiful, historic hotel with a stunning Belle Époque style throughout. The highlight for many—including me—is the incredible Art Nouveau staircase at the center of the building. It’s absolutely worth seeing and adds so much character to the hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful at all times. I especially appreciated the restaurant staff, who were smiling, attentive, and spoke excellent English. I had made a last-minute reservation for dinner, and they kindly accommodated me without any fuss. The food at dinner was tasty, although I didn’t try the wines. My room was absolutely enormous, with two double beds, a huge sofa, a writing desk, and a separate bathroom. The only slight drawback is that, while the bedroom is vast, the bathroom is quite small by comparison. It would have been nice if there was a bathtub, but realistically, there probably isn’t space for one given the layout. My room didn’t have a balcony, though I know some rooms do. The style of the hotel is very opulent and classic, with beautiful décor throughout. The breakfast room is the same as the restaurant and is gorgeous, featuring ceiling frescoes and large windows overlooking the main square. There’s also a terrace, which unfortunately wasn’t open during my stay due to a thunderstorm. Breakfast was nice overall. I’ve heard it used to be more lavish in the past, and it might be nice if there were a few more choices, as the selection could feel a bit repetitive if you stayed for several days. Still, it had everything you’d generally want or need. A couple of small improvements could make the stay even better. For instance, the in-room TV was a modern digital model, but it didn’t offer streaming services like Netflix, Prime, or YouTube, which many top-end hotels now include. The location of Hotel Bristol is excellent.

Location is very central and hence super convenient to walk to common attractions !! There is also a taxi stand near the piazza Ferrari fountain and many bus stops and a metro station nearby. Staff are helpful and efficient and speak English well. The interior decoration was what exceeded my expectations!!!! Super classical elegant fancy interior design, truly blown away. The spiral staircase that goes around and up til the top floor is very beautiful with many stain-glass window details. Room is very big as well which impressed me too ! Beds were comfy, sofa is very long and big, nice welcome gifts/ food given in the room, toilet is spacious and clean, and ample space for opening big luggages. Loved my stay here :)

Only one shared bedside table which is pretty small and already taken up by the room phone so can’t really place much there if you need to.

Narrow entrance and small and slow elevators. We have two babies, and our twin stroller was too big for the main entrance and the elevators. This is never a problem in Scandinavia, as public buildings have universal design requirements. But at hotel Bristol Palace we had to dismantle the stroller to enter/exit the hotel, and to use the elevators. This is only a problem for a very limited number of people (with large wheelchairs, or twin strollers), but it sure gave us a lot of extra work.

The staff went above and beyond to make me feel special – I was surprised with a thoughtful birthday gift and even received a room upgrade, which made the occasion feel extra luxurious. The hotel itself is stunning, full of charm and elegance, with beautiful interiors that reflect its rich history. My upgraded room was spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, offering the perfect blend of classic style and modern comfort. Every interaction with the staff was warm and professional – they clearly care about making each guest feel valued. The location is fantastic as well, right in the heart of Genoa, making it easy to explore the city’s historic sites and waterfront. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend my birthday. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Bristol Palace for making it so special. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this gem to friends and family!

Excellent service , friendly and very professional staff at reception, bar , vallet parking and housekeeping , high quality hotel. Bathroom was very good , clean and high quality. Very good beds ( mattress and lines ) but pillows could be better. Perfect location .

We have got too many mails with updates and ads ( 17 ) before arrival and during stay even that I asked to be unsubscribed ( which has been ignored ) No heating starting in April , but solved quickly by reception and housekeeping with a mobile heating for our room. Noisy in the morning. We were woken up by vacuum cleaner around 9 a.m.

It really is a beautiful hotel, location was great and staff were excellent.

AC just didn’t work well. They did upgrade us to a nicer room which was appreciated but that room also didn’t have adequate ac. Didn’t want to bother the staff again so we just kept window open until right before bed to cool it down but still tended to get hot. The other item that could use serious improvement is the television. It’s small and only has a couple of English channels - and not good ones. We don’t travel to watch TV but do like to watch a bit before going to sleep so something like Netflix at least wouod be appreciated.

I had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Bristol Palace. The room was amazing — beautifully detailed, with high ceilings and a refined, elegant atmosphere that felt both timeless and welcoming. Everything was great — I really enjoyed the experience! Just one very minor point: I found the extra charge for having the egg prepared a certain way a bit unnecessary, as I see it as part of the service rather than an upgrade. It’s really not a big deal, but perhaps something for management to consider going forward. Thanks again!

I liked the architecture and old luxury style of the hotel, the friendly and professional staff, the wonderful staircase which is very charming and the rooms with high ceilings, that are also charming and have pretty much everything you need.

Even though our room's windows weren't at the main street the hotel is on, where most of the nearby traffic is, there was still some traffic noise at night. The heating system could be better (it's based on old built-in airconditioning, which isn't the best way to heat a high room), but I guess it's never very cold in Genova.

We adored the Hotel Bristol, so charming and characterful, and Matteo and all the staff made us feel immediately at home, welcoming us after a long road trip from London. We had perfect suggestions from him which opened the city to us in an invaluable way and we even managed to find a skateboard for my son’s birthday thanks to his brilliant knowledge of Genova. Being artists my husband and I found the Art Nouveau staircase marvellous (no wonder Hitchcock was inspired) and the view from our room over the rooftops of Genova was glorious. We were steps away from all the main sights and the hospitality we experienced was the kind one always hopes to find but is a rare gem these days. The breakfast team even found a Teddy for my son’s birthday which made him so happy. Grand elegant hotels with such a warm fun atmosphere are a treat to come across and we loved the fact that this one has retained its character. Genova was a true delight and a highlight of our trip to the Italian riviera.
