This hotel is fabulous. The location is prefect right in the old town. The room was in a cave, atmospheric but modern, high taste level, clean, quiet. The service facilities are great …to the pizza restaurant, the breakfast (brilliant & generous), two concierge desks, the hotel areas are lovely. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Feels like a bit of luxury but still great value for money. Would stay again in a heart beat!

The transfers if arranged privately are significantly cheaper than if arranged by the hotel.

Well what a beautiful, very special hotel in a cave! Lovely, extra touches and terrific table and chairs outside our door to watch our he passing parade. Staff too couldn’t have been more obliging especially Michaela who was always busy around the hotel, very obliging and who couldn’t have been more helpful.

Unfortunately, the shower was just so small it almost felt like we had our face against the glass. Felt difficult to maneuver in.

We loved everything about this hotel. Very clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb, we were looked after by Micheal who could do enough for us. The breakfast selection was fabulous and fresh. Everything in the room was spotless, slippers, robes etc. Would recommend.

I would have liked drink facilities to make tea or coffee. I thought they should provide water free of charge. Prices for mini fridge were expensive considering we had paid a lot for a suite.

I had an email on the day travel to say they were carrying out works at casa di Lucio, which may affect my relaxation and do they would upgrade my to their five star Sant Angelo Luxury Residence. I had a superior suite directly overlooking San Pietro. I also had a private balcony where I could take an early morning coffee before the day tourists arrived. The staff were beautiful. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had in a phenomenal cave room.

There was nothing I didn’t enjoy about my stay.

The location was just perfect, right in the most beautiful part of old historical Matera. Our room was even better in real life, than it was in photos. The bed and the sheets were really comfortable, loved having a bath instead of a shower, and the breakfast was lovely. (Be prepared for a challenge of currying the luggage anywhere in historic area of Matera - Sassi. It's a limited traffic area zone. The option is either to pay a lot for parking and take a shuttle bus, or to park on your own, and curry the luggage up and down the stairs)

This is a gorgeous and exotic hotel. Our was a cave artistically transformed into something other-worldly. We checked in late and there’s no reception after 15:00 but Michele the next day was warm and welcoming and makes an excellent breakfast. He saved this review.

Good luck if you’re driving. Finding the off-site parking lot was murder, and the assistance from the staff from the hotel’s other property that cover after hours was very weak.

The free breakfast included in our stay was probably the best breakfast we had in our three week trip of Italy.

Room did not have much lighting, but you are staying in a cave after all! Lugging our bags from reception was not terribly difficult but it would be nice if a porter service was available.

This boutique hotel was amazing, room was gorgeous and very comfy beds. it was right in the centre of the sassi where you could walk and explore all of Matera with plenty of restaurants / cafes on the doorstep. The staff were lovely, in particular Michele who also prepared super breakfasts each morning!

Location is very good and the hotel has arranged for car parking in the new town with a shuttle to take us to the hotel. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay - especially when we lost an iPad and they located it for us - we left it on the shuttle. Breakfast was good and itWe had an amazing dinner at their Michelin Star Regia Corte restaurant which had 2 of the best dishes I have ever tasted.

This hotel is so unique and beautiful; it made our stay in Matera so special and memorable. The rooms are all different but ours was spacious and comfortable; the breakfast is very nice and the staff super friendly and helpful.
