Corte San Pietro has the best location in Matera—right in the heart of the historic town. The staff is absolutely wonderful and truly goes above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. Giuseppe gave all instructions to get to places and also made our dinner reservation. I stayed in the Comfort Room, which was beautiful—modern, yet completely in harmony with the unique charm of Matera. My friends stayed in a simpler room, which felt a bit too small and dark for my taste, as it didn’t have as many windows as mine. One of the highlights was breakfast, where we had live piano music—such a cool and unexpected touch that added to the overall experience. I would definitely recommend Corte San Pietro. Staying here isn’t just accommodation—it’s part of the Matera experience.

I had to suggest one improvement, it would be the reception area. The furniture, particularly the front desk, doesn’t quite match the high standard and elegance of the rest of the hotel. A small upgrade there could really elevate the first impression.

The best stay of our trip! Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The breakfast is also very much appreciated with nice music.

We loved everything! Just for a note we wish the tv had Netflix for a relaxing night, but after a day walking in matera we fell asleep quick.

We spent two nights here visiting Matera. Conveniently situated along the main road in the Sassi. Our room was beautifully designed in a rustic but modern minimalist style that perfectly suits the environment. Wonderful breakfasts served in a room above the ancient cisterns. Be sure to take a tour of the underground cisterns and the mirrored art installation! We were lucky to be escorted by one of the owners who provided insight. The friendly front desk staff provided helpful information, including the recommendation to start at Casa Noha to see a film about the history of Matera. A must see, as is MUSMA, the sculpture museum qinside the caves. The lovely owners of Corte San Pietro have created an intimate and soulful place to stay in Matera.

staff were so lovely and helpful, we even got a tour of the underground cisterns! Great property, right on the main road in Matera, close to delicious restaurants. Breakfast was great and it was such a treat to stay in a cave room! Thank you to Anne, Giuseppe, Angela and everyone for a wonderful stay!

the room we chose had windows facing the main street so there were some noise from cars. I'm a light sleeper but didn't have issues while wearing earplugs. I believe some of the other rooms may be less exposed and quieter. Would still stay again next time we're in Matera!

Perfect location in the Sassi. You are close to everything you need to go in Matera. The whole place is beautiful and you can visit their historic cave, which is very surprising and fascinating. Room is clean, facilities are modern. Staff are friendly, helpful and thoughtful. Breakfast is served and not buffet, well balanced meal with live piano.

Sassi is not accessible by car, so had to park outside. The private parking was 20 euros and 10 mins walk away (or €15 shuttle). I’m fine paying but wish this was indicated before booking.

Loved the authentic feel to this property. Decor in the rooms and common areas is gorgeous. The perfect location in the sassi near great bars, restaurants and views of Matera. The nicest and most helpful staff. Delicious breakfast, piano player making for a picturesque start to your morning

One of the rooms has a private pool / sauna / steam room - feel like this is the only thing missing for all guests to enjoy, a small plunge pool or jacuzzi for all guests to enjoy specially in the summer heat!

Everything- A 15 room bed and breakfast in the heart of the Sassi Caveoso with short walks to restaurants, bars and so much historical culture. Our room was charming with a small balcony and overlooked the small road and tourist area as well as the beautiful lights of the Sassi in the evening. Other rooms- suites and junior suites were quieter and overlooked the hotel courtyard. Giuseppe was very friendly and helped us with dinner reservations, showing us the amazing underground cistern that is preserved under the hotel. Waiting in our room was a plate of grapes and plums- so sweet! Breakfast was elegant with a gentleman playing the piano while we dined on fruit, yogurt, pastries, cheese and excellent coffee. We loved the location even the bit of tourist and locals chatter heard from our balcony. Plus The view of the Sassi from the balcony was extraordinary at night. I would definitely recommend.

From the moment we were greeted at the Reception we were made to feel like very special guests. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, the rooms are really stylish and the little details (eg fresh fruit in the rooms, replenished daily) really appreciated. The reception team made the process of booking our hire car into a secure garage really easy and arranged a shuttle bus. The breakfasts were also delicious, light and elegant - we loved being serenaded by a fabulous pianist during breakfast each morning! The network of ancient cisterns below the hotel are also fascinating. It was my husband's birthday during our stay and the hotel left a bottle of sparkling wine on ice in our room with a handwritten card. It was a really lovely and thoughtful touch. This is a great hotel in a beautiful city.

The air con in our room didn't make much impact but the cave rooms are naturally cool so we were able to sleep OK despite the 33 degree heat.
