What an amazing location. The cave rooms are incredibly detailed yet historic. The family who owned this property for generations are amazing hosts. There is so much to see right in this radius. I will be back. Everyone should stay here. The views from the rooms and terrace are beyond words. Thank you, I enjoyed my time in Matera immensely and your property made it more enriching. There is absolutely nothing to not like...my entire stay was wonderful.

La Corta dei Pastori is a beautiful B&B housed in an old stone building with a drop-dead gorgeous view of the old city of Matera. Our jaws dropped when we arrived and saw the view from our personal patio--and the novelty never faded, as we gazed in all directions in the continually changing light. The immediate surroundings are equally lovely: a large and beautifully maintained garden, filled with a colorful variety of flowering plants and birds. Our room was delightful--actually a suite, with a separate living room and convenient small kitchen where we could make coffee and tea. Breakfast is served by the very friendly owners on each of the rooms' private patios, and it is hard to imagine a more glorious spot to sit in the entire city. Yet it's right on the main street, within easy walking distance of everything in town (including churches, museums, and historical sites) as well as to the hiking trails of Parco Murgia. Almost next door is a wonderful restaurant, Keiv, serving reinterpretations of delicious local cuisine. And the local bus from the new city and train station stops right out in front. A perfect place to stay in Matera!

We should have stayed at least one more day. There's so much to see and do in Matera, even three days would feel pretty short. And with such a great home base, we really wanted to stay longer.

Here is in a great location, within walking distance of Matera's main street. If you're coming by car, park at the saragat parking lot outside the Sassi district, as advised by the host, and take the bus for 1.5 euros per person, which drops you off right in front of the property. The parking lot is very reasonable at 5 euros per day! The property has a terrace with a very nice view of Matera. The room conditions are very comfortable and clean, and the hosts are very friendly. For breakfast, you'll be served delicious homemade food prepared by your hosts. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of local freshly made ricotta, Matera bread, lemon jam etc every morning on the terrace with spectacular view. The owners are lovely people - my only regret is that I have forgotten what little Italian I knew so I could have communicated with the owners. The room was lovely and the shower was best I have experienced . Location is perfect! We really enjoyed out stay at La Corte Dei Pastori and would 100% stay there again if we go back to Matera.

Very minor but small coffee maker in room would have been fantastic with a couple of local biscuits. There was a kettle and tea bags but we are coffee drinkers

what a wonderful place - the location was perfect! breakfast was amazing and very generous. although they spoke very little English (and we speak no Italian) our hosts were wonderful we couldn't have asked for better view over the Sassi - truly amazing - would highly recommend!

struggled to find the Accomadation as out private transfer dropped us off at the end of Old Two Matera and the Sassi and although I had 'What3Words' it took us up and down a million steps before we were able to find it

We booked this hotel after reading all the great reviews—and it truly didn’t disappoint. What you see is exactly what you get! The hotel is spacious, clean, and offers stunning views. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They even went the extra mile to help us book a cab and communicated with the driver on our behalf, which made everything so much easier. And not to forget the breakfast—it was generous, delicious, and a perfect way to start the day. Highly recommended!

Visitng Matera, staying 3 nights, was an extraordinary experience. And La Corte Dei Pastori was the perfect place to be - unique, only 5 rooms, owners Tiziana and Domenico who are gracious, welcoming and kind. The accommodations were spacious and the bed delightfully comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Tiziana is an artist and I brought back a piece that she made. Domenico could not have been more helpful. The location is perfect for exploring Matera. There are two outstanding restaurants right below - Francesca with cave walls and Keiv. I was intriqued by the history of Matera and being there was amazing. The view from the lovely garden terrace that our room opened onto was stunning in the day and magnificent at night. A sight that will stay with me forever. Thank you, Tiziana and Domenico, for such a wonderful visit!

EVERYTHING!! The location in the Sassi is excellent and easily accessible on the Sassi line bus from the Via Saragat carpark. We loved our cave house apartment - incredibly comfortable and spacious (the attached picture is only of the sleeping area - the room also had a large lounge and kitchenette area). The views from the rooms are spectacular and the perfect backdrop for the magnificent breakfast served on the terrace. Dominic, Tiziana and Luka were fantastic hosts. No request was a problem, and they were wonderful to help us with our luggage. Heaps of wonderful places to eat and drink. You will not regret staying here.

Absolutely nothing

Absolute gem in Matera! Terraces of the hotel have incredible views of the sassi. We were in the double room that had a bedroom and living room/kitchen and included a private terrace. Clean, comfortable. Great hosts, full breakfast. We parked at Parcheggio Via Saragat (0.50E/hr) and took the Linea Sassi bus (1.50E pp). Took us right to the hotel at Piazza San Pietro Caveoso. Hotel is right above Keiv Ristorante and below the big stone church.

Wow! We had a fantastic one-night stay at La Corte Dei Pastori. Titiana her family were so welcoming and generous. Our room looked onto the church and the town and the views were superb. The room had everything we needed, including a small terrace. The breakfast was generous and delicious. The B&B is near the bus station to the train station which was handy. We can definitely recommend this beautiful family owned B&B.
