Superb location in the Sassi, very friendly team, everything in the design has been thought through to give a sense of history but also comfort. Breakfast was a good selection, bar was open during the evening and beautiful view from the terrace. We arranged a transfer from Bari through the hotel and that was very good, very dood communication from the driver.

The room I booked was not available and this wasn’t communicated until we arrived. While another room was provided that had two beds we couldn’t check in from 3pm. The person at reception wasn’t very customer friendly about it but when I spoke to someone else they were able to confirm the time the room would be ready and showed us the facilities. Not a great start but all as okay after that.

Can’t decide if the hotel design, scent, location or the service was more exceptional… It is a unique hotel, worth every effort to stay there. Their service is top notch. We had two bedrooms (4 adults) and everyone was so pampered and we felt relaxed, happy, woke up in beautiful bedding and ambience. Did I mention the scent of their rooms?? Fantastic stay, we will happily always go back!

We loved absolutely everything about this property. Xavier the Hotel Receptionist attended us with so much care and tried his best to organize activities such as cooking classes for us. The rooms are very carefully designed with so much attention to detail. Don’t miss the cisterns in the Lobby area. Sadly they were not filled with water due to maintenance. Also don’t miss the Pancetta Bread Salad for breakfast and order some Omelets.

There was nothing negative about the Hotel what’s o ever. What needs to be mentioned is, that you can’t directly park your car at the hotel. There is planned Shuttle Service bringing you from the carpark to the Hotel and back.

The room furnishing is up to a very high standard. Comfortable bed and beddings. It is also very dark in the room if you have the windows closed, we slept so well! Within the room is sound proof, not the case for the bathroom as I could hear everything the toddler said next door 😂 but it’s just the bathroom. The cot they prepared for our baby is lovely too! Location is amazing, very easy to get to the main streets of the sassi on foot. Lots of restaurants nearby. It also has a wonderful view. Most of the staff are very friendly and sweet, one even gave us a hug when we left ❤️ Would definitely recommend this place for a stay in Matera!

Would be nice to have conditioner than just shampoo and shower gel. Breakfast selection a little bit limited.

This location is literally at the centre of the Sassi Caveoso. It is a strikingly beautiful property maintained at the highest standards and reflects the modern and architectural transformation of such a significant historical site. The staff are such gracious, kind and helpful people proud of the property and its ownership. We were treated with the utmost of warmth and professionalism. A special mention to Domenico the barman. A very kind, helpful and gentle soul who in a very short period became a true ‘amico’ with a great sense of warmth and humour. Saying good bye was difficult. We only hope to return someday soon and find the same staff in great health.

The municipality of Matera traffic sign signifying the ZTL is not visible when making the turn right onto the street leading to the hotel. Nothing to do with the hotel but be for-warned. It will likely be expensive.

Beautiful renovation of an old building! Rooms are beautifully furnished with contemporary style and the attention to detail was outstanding! Also dog friendly. Would definitely return and recommend this hotel. Parking is not allowed in the old town so the hotel arranged for valet parking service and we were transported in a shuttle bus. Breakfast was perfect and a special mention for Linda who was outstanding! She was helpful, cheerful and spoke excellent English! Made us feel very welcome!

Pianelle Resort is a beautiful boutique hotel with an exceptional location in the heart of the old city of Matera. The staff, (Rocco, Dominico, Asia, Linda, Beatricie and everyone else) were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was amazing. The Sassi(cave) rooms were very unique, modern and comfortable with everything we needed for an amazing stay. I would highly recommend this hotel!!

We loved our stay at Pianelle, fantastic location, beautiful views of Matera, room was fantastic and had all the amenities we needed and was very well laid out. Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. A drink at their terrace is a must do to watch the sun set and watch the town come to life at night. Hotel arranged transfer for us from the car park which was a 5 min drive away.

This Hotel is much more than a Hotel. It’s situated at the perfect spot in Matera, close to everything that you need to see or visit. Breakfast was great. Coffee perfect. Room super comfortable with a big comfy bed. Stuff is extremely nice and super kind&professional. If we are coming back to Matera, we would stay only at this Horel.

Perfect location, in the Sassi, right at the piazza, great views and loved that the walking tour I signed up started right outside. There are restaurants literally as you step out of the property. World class facilities, the staff is phenomenal, so helpful, what a beautiful place. I can’t wait to go back again.! Thank you guys, you made me fall in love with Italy even more! Matera was a highlight.
