Annalisa and the team at Porta Castellana made our stay in Montalcino so enjoyable! Their property is absolutely beautiful and we truly felt we were staying as a guest of the family, not a guest of generic B&B. Breakfast each morning on their terrace was a great start to each morning and we thoroughly enjoyed their recommendations on dinner restaurants during our stay. I would recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to Montalcino and look forward to the next time we can stay on the property.

While Annalisa and her team did provide clear instructions on how to get to the property, I would recommend arriving during the day if you are driving. The roads were very difficult to navigate in the dark, even with the helpful photos.

We had a wonderful time staying at this b&b. Duccio was incredibly helpful and kind, he gave us lots of recommendations that ended up being fabulous. We ended up upgrading to the lofted room because the smaller room was a bit too small for us and it worked out perfectly because it had a fireplace and we loved getting to have a fire at the end of the night. The breakfasts were delicious. Overall, it really felt like a wonderful getaway and we couldn't recommend this spot more.

Nothing, everything was wonderful.

Great rooms, great staff, and great location & breakfast. The beds and linens were very clean and crisp. The Wi-Fi was strong and consistent. Everything was perfect. We were even able to park our rental car right by the room. I stayed with my wife in December of 2023 for New Years Eve. The proprietors are family based, very nice and very helpful. The weather was great while we were there, celebrations in the central piazza were fun and even though we arrived without a restaurant reservation with some tips from the owners were able to find a table and eat dinner out. Based upon the cleanliness and location alone I would stay there again but the ownership and assistance put it all over the top. Highly recommended! Hope to visit again one day.

Annaelisa is a special person! She takes care of everything during your stay. Gave us a lot of nice tips from the city and surroundings. Porta Castellana is very well located in the city, 5 min walking you are inside Montalcino. The room we stayed wasn’t too big, but we can accomodate ourselves properly, it has a good space for lugagge. Unfortunately I twisted my ankle during the stay, but Annaelisa and her staff helped a lot, bringing me ice! :) I would definately return. Recommend this place!

I have a suggestion for breakfast, they prepared the table for breakfast in front of our room, with a lot of varieties. And there was somethings that we didin’t eat. So, to save waste, I think it will be nice if they prepared like a “menu” and the guests choose what to eat.

Host was very kind and accommodated us last minute for a spontaneous decision to stay overnight in Montepulciano. The breakfast on the beautiful terrace was one of the highlights of the trip. The apartment itself was beautifully renovated, very clean and comfortable. Location was perfect for walking into the centre of town as well as accessing the countryside.

Lovely grounds and garden; beautifully decorated room with exposed brick, comfortable bed, and crisp monogrammed sheets; quiet private location, yet just a short walk to the town center. Delicious breakfast served in the garden . . . Annalisa and her son were welcoming and helpful with recommendations for area sites and restaurants.

Loved everything about it!

I contacted Annalisa hours before our expected arrival informing her we'd be there later than expected and she assured us it wasn't a problem. Parking spaces were good. The rooms were spacious, clean, attractive and comfortable with a living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. Breakfast was delicious but the weather prevented us from using the patio. Annalisa checked in daily to ensure all was well and offered good recommendations for things to see and local restaurants. When departing there was an issue with my credit card being approved (showed transaction pending) and she trusted me that the transaction actually went through (approved on my end) and sent me a message later in the day on WhatsApp that it went through. Fabulous host!

The location is a bit challenging to find the first time.

Everything was incredible, cleanliness was on point, the terrace was amazing, breakfast was delicious. And we had the most amazing hosts, Duccio and his mom were so welcoming and friendly, we felt just like at home! We will be back someday for sure! All the best from Milos and Kristina!

Like is not a strong enough word. We loved everything about the property! From the host to the room, it was the most perfect stay one could have asked for. Breakfast was fantastic, the room was beautiful and clean, location is fantastic! Dida, the host, gives the best recommendations. I hated leaving. Miss it already.

We LOVED everything!

Montalcino is such a beautiful town. Porta Catellena is just a few minutes walk from everywhere. Super comfortable room with a memory foam mattress. Lovely breakfast served on the patio. Super helpful hosts. Be prepared to walk up the hill.
