It was truly a stroke of luck for me, as a first-time visitor to Palermo, to have found this accommodation. Taking the bus from Palermo Central Bus Terminal brought me straight to the area with no transfers, and it was easy to find, so I had no trouble arriving at the place. Even though I couldn't keep my appointment time properly on the first day, the host, Mauro, welcomed me very warmly. The interior of the accommodation was decorated with antique furniture, which I personally found beautiful and charming. The air conditioning worked perfectly as well, which made my stay even more comfortable. 😊 Most of all, the location of the accommodation was perfect—it was convenient to go anywhere, with plenty of great restaurants and useful facilities nearby. I was very satisfied. Tourist spots were within walking distance, and the mini sightseeing train that tours around Palermo also departed from near the accommodation. The sea harbor was very close, so it was also nice to take relaxing walks by the water. Since the area is a residential neighborhood where local Palermo people live, I felt completely safe walking around alone at night. There were many cafés and restaurants open even late into the night, which made it possible to end each day pleasantly. What I’m most grateful for is the host, Mauro! He always paid attention to his guests, making sure everything was comfortable and nothing was lacking. He even kindly extended my check-out time free of charge, for which I’m still truly thankful. The breakfast was prepared with great care every morning, and I enjoyed delicious Italian bread, croissants, cappuccinos, yogurt, fruit, and more—it made me really happy. I’m glad to have received such warm hospitality at my first accommodation in Palermo and to have traveled with peace of mind. Mauro’s detailed explanations about sightseeing spots were very helpful to me.

B&B with a perfect location. Quiet pedestrian street, with all the facilities for food and transportation in the area. Daily cleaning and a great breakfast. The host , Mr. Mauro , is helpful and has great knowledge of the history and tourist attractions of Palermo and the region. He provides precise directions and is always available to help you. There were times when I had to leave before breakfast time and he kindly prepared something for me to take with me. I will definitely be back to the b&B on my next trip to Palermo.

An Unforgettable Stay in Palermo! Our recent stay at Il Genio del Porto was absolutely fantastic, largely thanks to our host, Mauro. From the moment we arrived, he was so helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to make our trip special. He took the time to personally help us plan our stay, offering invaluable insights and recommendations for exploring Palermo. We were impressed by his deep knowledge of the city's history, making our experience much richer. The room itself was excellent and made our stay incredibly comfortable. We genuinely couldn't have asked for more. We would be absolutely delighted to return to Palermo and stay here again. We wholeheartedly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a truly authentic and welcoming experience in Palermo!

Rooms were nice, only a bit dark. Your host is absolutely amazing, we felt very welcomed and he knows a huge amount of information about Palermo. We only had breakfast directly in the b&b once because we had to leave so early. As an alternative, we could use the café next door which was also amazing.

We had three rooms, one of the room's bathrooms was not entirely clean with left-over towels. Towel replacement was not as expected, but possible at request.

Single mum traveller with 3 children. Lovely property in the centre very if the town. The accommodation is on the 2nd floor but there is a lift. We stayed in a large room with double bed and 2 singles. Very clean accommodation. Beds are comfortable and shower is great. WiFi is good. Air conditioning is good. Mauro is a great host and really knowledgeable and helpful about where to visit in Sicily. The breakfast was great, plenty of variety and fresh pastries and local foods, fresh juices and coffee and cereal and fruit. The airport bus stops at the top of the street. Everything in Palermo was walking distance. Lots of local buses around town and to Mondello beach which was worth a visit. Tourist bus stop is only a few metres from the property and will take you around Palermo, which was great for seeing the city, especially in the heat with children! Central train station is approx 30 minutes walk away. We got the train to Cefalu in under an hour. There are lots of bars and restaurants beside the property but the room in the property was very sound proof. I highly recommend staying at the B&B.

Central (but quiet!), attention to detail (e.g. an array of books about Sicily displayed in the entrance hall), tastefully and attractively decorated (e.g. historic maps and b&w photos of old Sicily and a piano 🎹 in the passage) and a first-class breakfast (with the option of having it at the cafe downstairs if you want to get going early!). Owner/manager Mauro - responsive and generous in sharing fascinating facts, stories and recommendations - has created a wonderful haven in the noise and chaos of beautiful Palermo!

Great A.C and the bed was firm which I like so very comfortable. Lovely decor, everything was clean, and there was complimentary chilled water. Mauro is a gentleman and the place is secure.

Only complaint is the private bathroom not being attached to the room and some awkward. For room 2, you would have to cross the hallway which leads to room 1 to reach your bathroom. Also although it was correctly inputted into Booking.com on his end, my confirmation email had the wrong check out time so be wary of that it's 10am which is reasonable

Loved to have Mauro present every morning during breakfast.It was wonderful to be able to ask questions and chat with a nice, knowledgeable and helpful person! I am so over the self check-in where you only communicate by phone. Breakfast was tasty, varied and plenty. Having the option to take the elevator was very much appreciate by these two 70 year old seniors. We had the family room which was spacious and also had a ceiling fan, besides air conditioning. The bnb is located in a pedestrian area with plenty restaurants and bars to choose from. No noise during the night, slept well.

Did not stay long enough. Should have stayed a week instead of 3 days. The only thing that could be improved on is the breakfast area. It is a little too cosy and gets a bit warm...but did not stop us from enjoying our breakfast

The apartment is in a great location, and Mauro, the host, is very kind and helpful. The area feels safe and is nice to walk around. He shared lots of useful and interesting information about Palermo and the surroundings, which really helped me plan my trip and learn more about the city and Sicily 😊 If I come back to Palermo, I’ll definitely stay here again!

Perfect location close to the port and to all the areas of interest. Mauro made my stay as a solo traveler very special. Nowadays, it’s easy to find accommodation, but difficult to find hosts that take great care in giving you advice on places to visit, good cafés and restaurants, transportation and provide breakfast. He cares about the guests’ needs, is always available and has extensive knowledge about Palermo. I was very pleased with my room, as it was quiet, clean and everything was in working order and very happy with my breakfast too. I highly recommend this B&B and will definitely be back next time I am in Palermo.
