We stayed in a large, bright room with plenty of space for clothes and a lovely balcony. The location is ideal—close to the beach and convenient for catching the ferries. The room came with thoughtful amenities like toiletries, a fridge, complimentary water on arrival, slippers, and fresh towels daily. I also requested a kettle and was pleasantly surprised to find it waiting for me at check-in. Overall, I recommend La Tartana. The staff are very helpful and welcoming, but the hotel has some room for improvement, especially considering the price.

That said, I have a few suggestions for improvement. Replacing the plastic cups with glass ones would enhance the experience. Some of the furniture could use attention to ensure drawers close properly, items hang straight, and there are no holes in the walls or ceiling. Cleaning could be more thorough in certain areas. In the breakfast area, it would be helpful to display all options clearly on a blackboard.

First off the staff was extremely welcoming and enthusiastic offering great advice and genuine concern for us enjoying our stay. They even went as far as printing maps of hiking trails and providing excellent directions and recommendations. Alfonso who staffed the desk during the day, made us feel special and Maria made sure we enjoyed our breakfast. The location was ideal.....close to the ferry, the beach, restaurants, and shops. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and clean and we had a small terrace with table and chairs to enjoy our view of the beach. Daily breakfast was delicious with typical continental cuisine including fresh pastries, fresh fruit, and allowed for freshly cooked eggs if desired. A special touch was a beach bag and beach towel provided for our use during our stay!

They could have been clearer about where to be dropped off by taxi - we had to walk down many stairs with lots of luggage and injured our shoulders.

Alfonso is so helpful, it made the experience even better! He had great recommendations, helped us organize a porter or a taxi wherever we needed he really is so good at his job and also very funny! The room was so much bigger than I expected it to be and the view was just spectacular. Maybe 15/20 steps down to the beach and some amazing restaurants. The drop off location was great and then it’s slightly down some paths to get to the location it’s great! If you’re wanting to not have to trek a whole bunch of stairs this is the place!

The breakfast could have been a little better with the options provided. More of a snack bar

Nicely appointed room with a balcony looking out to the sea. Hotels that are created by converting old houses, castles, etc often have issues with things working in the room, like plumbing, electricity, etc., not the case at Villa La Tartana...everything in the room worked exceptionally well. Beautiful flow from the entry door to the balcony. The staff are exceptionally welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. Can't praise them enough. Close to the beach and even gave us complimentary beach towels. Love this hotel!

We did some research before, and chose La Tartana mainly because of its location (not too many steps and close to the beach) - and we could not be more grateful for it, as it met our requirements and was within our budget. The staff - Alfonso (main desk), Maria (breakfast) and Silvia (main desk afternoon and owner) - were extremely friendly, kind and helpful all the time. Our overall stay was six days, in a beautiful and spacious room on the ground floor with a small terrace and sea view, it was much more than what we could ask for! The location was amazing - 5 min at most from the beach, the main pier, shops and restaurants - and Positano overall was a great “base” to go to the different places in the Amalfi Coast we visited (Amalfi, The Path of the Gods trail, Capri). We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to stay!

The Villa La Tartana had the most incredibly friendly and helpful staff in an amazing location. Our room had a sea view which also overlooked the city, it is probably one of the most picturesque views we have ever had. From the hotel there is a two minute walk down to the beach and its many restaurants. We had been travelling along the Amalfi Coast and the food we had in Positano was the best. We cannot thank Alfonso at reception enough for all his help with organising our taxi and making recommendations to us. We loved the breakfast and especially the omelettes!

Breakfast was excellent with very friendly and helpful lady that managed the breakfast every day. Excellent view of beach during breakfast. Hotel was in excellent location and staff available all the time to answer any questions or give advice. Hotel very accommodating in providing glasses, etc for consumption of own beverages in the room. Discount offered if you used family restaurant on the hill which provided excellent food and tremendous views whilst eating

It is a pity that no coffee facilities were provided in the room

Villa La Tartana is in an excellent location, a short walk to the beach (but still quiet and peaceful) and a short walk to the shopping, bars and restaurants. We had a beautiful view of the beach from our balcony and also from our bathroom window - you were never without a view of the sea! The staff are excellent including the lovely owner and the kitchen and cleaning staff - it felt like family! The no.1 thing about Villa La Tartana however is Alfonso who made our trip EVERYTHING. From the second we arrived and met Alfonso, he made us feel so happy and welcome. He gave us excellent advice on where to eat and what to do, we had the best time chatting to him and miss him and Positano so much already. I cannot wait to get back to Positano and would 100% stay here again.

The location of this pad is literally behind the Santa Maria church, which was probably the best location I could imagine of. It's secluded and yet not, not too near and not far at all from the beach. It's about 200 - 250m away from the drop off point from any car/taxi/bus and it's downhill (that means when you go to the pick up points, it's uphill). Loads of things to see, I did feel safe around that area and finally about the Villa - my room assigned was beautifoooool! The scenery that greeted us every morning is on another echelon! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped with anything you might need, inc. hair dryer. There was a wardrobe for you to hang up your long clothes, a little quaint table to inspire some writing, and one thing I liked doing was opening the doors and window to the balcony, it's almost like indoor/outdoor living for us. We managed to take our short afternoon siestas every afternoon. Whenever, we come back each day, the room was clean and fresh. Thank you to the housekeeping team who did a fabulous well appreciate job of it. Breakfast was served next to the smallest lobby ever. It was even served from the smallest kitchenette ever, BUT everything served was delicious, delightful and delectable. My favourite was the few options of ham, and the cappuccino by Ms. Maria, what a pickup for the day! Thank you. We love her, skating around the space gently and swiftly, in her lovely attire and make-up. Her smile just warmed up the space with the soft gentle voice saying "prego" all the time. There was another gentleman who handled the front desk and the kitchen, now I remembered the omelette he made was also very delicious! Finally, it's Alfonso, who literally welcomed us with opened arms. He really made sure that we have everything we needed and were able to converse very well in English.

Nothing I didn't like - except that if we were to go back to Positano again, I will be devastated if we could not stay in this pad again.
