My most magical stay out of my two months in Asia. I was lucky enough to get a room with a window view of Mt. Fuji. Waking up to that image has stayed in my mind literally ever since. The rooms feel like traditional japanese vibes -- the futon, the mats, etc. Great for just hanging out with friends. The location was also perfect -- 5 mins away from the station.

There's only stairs up to the second floor where the rooms are. This wasn't an issue for me, but something to keep in mind if you're bringing a suitcase full of weights or something. There's also not that many plugs in the room itself

It was very near to the station and still in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood (shoutout to the Mt.Fuji view from our window!), the house was really nice and offered a traditional Japanese stay, we were thankful for the provided breakfast, we could use the kitchen, fridge, private onsen, lounge and so much more. And the staff was really nice and helpful. We loved it!

Be aware that if your room is on the second floor and you have a big suitcase, the stairs are narrow and steep. Also our door was really difficult to close and rather noisy. But the rest was perfect, we can't complain...

We loved our stay! Loved the traditional details, tatami mats, and making our futon beds. The “experience room” was also very interesting and fun to explore. The guesthouse is very close to Kawaguchiko station and also close to several conbini, so it was very convenient. The staff was very kind and helpful. We had a private room to ourselves and we got comfortable very quickly.

The wooden floorboards can be squeaky, so I imagine if the house is full of guests, it can get noisy. The stairs and hallways are also narrow so it is not easy to get around if you are larger or not as mobile.

The location was phenomenal, just a 4 minute walk from Kawaguchiko station, which was the main transportation hub in Fujikawaguchiko. Our room was listed as having a view of mount Fuji, and it did not disappoint! The sacred mountain looked as fantastic as ever, and it honestly felt like living in a peaceful mountain town home. The facilities were great and conveniently accessible, and breakfast was ready for our room each morning in the kitchen area. The hosts were incredibly accommodating for luggage storage, they also gave us a parting gift as we checked out. I would come back in a heartbeat if I were staying in Fujikawaguchiko.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Wafu Guesthouse Kashiwaya's place! The house was exactly as described. It was clean, spacious, and with all the amenities we could possibly need. The location was perfect – close to public transportation, and local attractions. The best part, our room facing directly to Mt Fuji! Host was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Check-in was seamless and made us feel right at home. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and convenient place in the area. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Must stay longer!

Old style house - lovely authentic feel to it. Our room had traditional sliding doors to it and a view of Mt Fuji. A corner of the living room had some kimonos you could try on for free. You could also rent them for 3 hours for a fee. Good air con.

Google maps wasn't accurate so it took us several minutes to find it on the main road. TV was old, square one, so no Smart TV to watch YouTube etc. Remembering when to use slippers, no slippers on the traditional Japanese straw floor mats and the toilet slippers.

The property is very convenient to get to from the Kawaguchi-ko train station which we got to by the Fujisan Express from Fuji-Q Highland. I appreciated experiencing a traditional Japanese stay, especially sleeping on a futon. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, giving us a tour of the place at our arrival, helping us a lot with booking our dinner, and even driving us to the restaurant without an additional charge. It is a very short walk from a beautiful view of Fuji, which we woke up to see at sunrise. One of our rooms also had a view of Fuji from the window. I liked that the rooms each had names inspired by Japanese nature. I loved the traditional bath offered which you could use privately. It was very relaxing. If we had stayed for a little longer, perhaps we would have also had time to appreciate the Yukatas and Origami worksheets that were offered in the main hall. We appreciated the complimentary tea throughout our stay and the buns for breakfast. Although we didn’t buy anything, the place had beautiful handmade merchandise to sell.

I felt that my futon could have smelled better and could have been cleaner, it was slightly stained. After a long day, it was a little tedious to have to spread out the futon myself according to the instructions provided inside the room. One of our rooms’ doors was difficult to lock from the outside.

It’s like your grandma old squeaky house, very cozy and it gives you an authentic Japanese home feel. Lots of free activities to try: free kimono experience (only for inside the house), calligraphy etc. Simple breakfast with bread roll and coffee/tea. Kitchen is stock with lots of pretty dishes, clean and dry them after use please. Our room could see Mt Fuji, really lucky as not all rooms can see it.

Steep stairs like the other comments have stated. But hey it’s really affordable accommodation so can’t complain.

Beautiful and authentic Japanese experience. My previous stay was at a busy hotel in Tokyo, so coming to this guesthouse was a pleasant change. The view from my room was great: I literally woke up at 4'o clock in the morning because of Mount Fuji! Can highly recommend renting an e-bike and explore the lakes and mountains.

Everything was good. Location, staff, food, etc. No complains from me.

I really enjoyed my stay at this guesthouse. The Location is perfect. Close to the train/ bus station and also not far away from the lake. Many shops/ Restaurants nearby. The guesthouse itself is a lovely, small and clean japanese style accomondation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They show you around and explain everythink well. My room was very large (I realized I have booked a family room) with everythink you could possibly need. But the best was that I could see Mt. Fuji from my window when it was not cloudy. I also liked the lounge room and the kitchen (which was quite big for japanese standards). They have a room where you can try on Kimonos / yukatas and make pictures for free. You will get a very easy but free breakfast every day too. Its not super comfortable to sleep only on an futon matress (you already know this when you book it), however it was definintely an experience you should try at least once. I would 100% recommend this guesthouse to everyone.
