I stayed at Hotel Torifito Hakata Gion for 7 nights for my Fukuoka conference trip. I am extremely happy with my stay and was glad to have selected this hotel for 7 nights! 1) All of the staffs were very friendly, polite and their attention to details! Special thanks to Gushiken-san, please give her a raise ;) who guided me from the start of my booking to the day of check-in! She answered all my queries on booking.com (~5 months in advance) and helped me on the day of my check-in. 2) I love the simplicity, tidiness, cleanliness and the sound proofing of the room. I read previous reviews that the toilet has a smell but in my opinion, it is the smell of the toilet electronics and nothing to worry about. 3) Breakfast buffet was great, tasty and a wide selection. Even though most of the breakfast items were kept the same, I enjoyed it. 4) The amenities were awesome, including the public onsen (not always crowded since you probably only spent 10-15 minutes), vending machines, complimentary drinks beside the reception, and every personal care items you need. 5) Location is splendid! It is very quiet during the day and night. Located in an alley away from the busy roads yet close to plenty of great and wide variety of restaurants. 4-10 minutes walk to bus stops, train stations, canal city and Hakata station. I appreciate that I get to take these walks (~20,000 steps) daily to experience and explore the locals and their way of life. We stayed here as remote workers. The room was beautiful, modern, and very clean. I made sure we had the room with the work desk for us to work throughout the morning. We never had issues with the internet or noise. TV showed status of washer/dryer so that was a nice plus! The hot spring was clean and simple. Location was convenient - about a 15 minute walk from main JR station. Lot's of small restaurants and cafes around. We did not take advantage of their breakfast buffet, but it looked wonderful! Staff was friendly and knew English. Overall a very wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

Their elevators were slow and often had to wait, but not a deal breaker. Overall, a very wonderful stay!

Nice hotel in a good location. The hotel looks quite new and fresh, it is clean and nice. The rooms are nice and comfort, breakfast is also ok. The location is also good - walking distance from train station, but also the streetfood area. The Staff speaks English :) They have also a small public bath, which is very nice.

Everything was ok.

Onsen has lots of room; loved start time of 0530. After onsen, free popsicles available to help cool off. Buffet breakfast has alternating menus that Chef Oba has brilliantly crafted. Drinks station is convenient. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Quiet area, minimal noise at all times.

Exhaust ventilation needs to be inspected. Suspect blockage in system. 2nd floor unit stayed in December 2024 and 6th floor unit stayed in March 2025 had similar issues. Both stay’s were still enjoyable by closing off doors to toilets.

The size of the room is good. Relatively spacious. Location is also near to major malls so it’s quite convenient. Little touches like free coffee and ice lollies was nice too.

The public bath was a bit messy. Sometimes I go, i find towels on the floor, toothbrush at shower area etc. Really need to educate the users. Maybe more notices can be put up to remind users to be considerate. Also when I booked on booking.com, it states the price includes all taxes but I had to pay an accommodation tax when I arrived. No biggie but I felt this should be advertised properly.

We actually stayed at Torifito on three separate occasions in April/May. Great and varied breakfasts were a great way to start our days. Western and Japanese food available. Used the washing machine a couple of times and that was helpful. We also liked that we could leave luggage when we were away from Fukuoka for a week. Easy walk to Hakata Station, the metro, restaurants. Of course the room size could have been bigger. For stays 2 and 3, we were on the 9th floor and found the configuration more spacious even if the square meters were the same as those on the third floor.

Onsen is well maintained, clean, and lots of amenities. Buffet breakfast by Chef Oba is extremely delicious with variety for the discerning palate. Her desserts are some of our favorite comfort foods, notably her zenzai (azuki bean soup with mochi balls), matcha pudding, and mochi balls with azuki beans coated with sesame seeds. Staff members work extremely hard to quickly clean rooms, buffet eating areas, maintaining adequate amounts of buffet items, including fresh brewed pots of coffee, juices, and teas. Host Stephan runs a tight ship, always hustling new guests to their tables, while keeping a watchful eye on the buffet foods. We are repeat guests, staying two weeks last December and four days in March and April when we explored Beppu. We will continue to return here whenever we visit Fukuoka because we’re treated like family here!

It was very near the station and a lot of shops like family mart, donki, ramen places and more. It was also very clean and with pretty interiors. There's a vending machine downstairs with free water and coffee and all toiletries.

The staff are really having a hard time understanding english. I asked them if they can bring up a push cart up to my room bec im checking out and I thought they understood. Ive waited for several minutes.. no one came. I called again but still they couldn't understand. I have plenty of luggages with a kid. So I was forced to do it all on my own. Only to find out I was waiting for nothing..then I was charged a late fee for not checking out on time. 😭😭

Public bath is very nice to have (actually the reason I chose this hotel) - we were be able to check how crowd it is through the interactive TV system! Complementary ice candy after taking a bath is lovely. Nice location to enjoy the Canal City and a local market. Comfortable beddings Quiet area.

No critically bad. But if I have to say: Not very close to Gion station with elderly people and/or big luggage, but that might be the reason of the quietness. No nearby convenient store (not close enough where I can get to at midnight a pajamas..., which is quite often the case in Japan ;-)).

I can’t recommend Hotel Torifito Hakata Gion enough! It was absolutely perfect. We chose this hotel for its prime location close to the city center, and it turned out to be ideal for our plans to visit all the sights and shop to our hearts’ content. The staff were some of the kindest and most welcoming people, always ready to help with any questions and make sure we had a wonderful stay. The hotel also offers a great range of amenities, which made our stay even more convenient and comfortable. For anyone wanting a central location, exceptional service, and all the comforts needed for a memorable trip, Hotel Torifito Hakata Gion is a fantastic choice!
