-Very good location. You are 15mins away on foot from Hakata, not that you'd need to walk as the location is very near one subway station, and another is also close by. -Very value for money. I don't think you'd find a cheaper place to stay that's so close to Hakata, Nakasu, and Tenjin. -Breakfast was really delicious.

-WiFi connection wasn't very good in my room -The property owners hae a dog which barks early in the morning. I was fine with this since I needed to wake up early, but if you prefer to sleep in, this might be a problem. -My room had this funky smell, that wasn't actually coming from inside my room, but just at the entrance. I didn't notice this smell in any other location at the Ryokan.

Very nice ryokan, located on a small street close to Gion subway station (2 minutes walk) and Hakata Station (10 minutes walk). Nerby many shops and restaurants, Big Buddha Temple and Kishida Shrine. Canal City Mall within walking distance. Personnel very nice and helpful. Good Japanese breakfast (misoshiru, rice, fish, natto, fried egg, salad and tea) - fresh, tasty and nutricious. 6 and 8 tatami rooms spacious and comfortable, futon beds very good and comfortable.

WIFI was very poor (almost no access) due to some technical issues for 2 days, after repair pretty good. Some toilets on the 1st floor very small, but clean.

Such a beautiful, homely ryokan with the most accommodating and lovely hosts. So comfortable to sleep in, I wish we stayed longer. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful and so sweet of them to provide! The bath was incredible, having been filled to the brim with hot, soothing water.

Maybe more slippers? When we arrived back in the evening after having been out for the day, there were not enough slippers for us to use as there were others staying at the ryokan. Mind you, there were a LOT of slippers and maybe the guests took more than needed, so this is a minor detail, and we did not mind being in our socks, only that we thought the hosts would prefer us in the slippers. Otherwise, there was nothing we would have changed other than staying longer!

Yamamoto Ryokan is in a great location, walking distance to lots of restaurants, tempes/shrines, shopping, and even the main train station (about 20 min. walk). It's not fancy but it's great value for money. The bathroom (toilets) are shared by several rooms but we never saw anyone else, so that was no issue at all. It was nice to be able to use the "family bath" (there are two of them) privately, just for the two of us. Japanese breakfast was excellent and the owners were helpful in letting us leave our luggage after check-out.

This didn't apply to us at all, but there is a steep, narrow stairway that would be difficult to navigate with very large suitcases.

Excellent location close to subway Gion, to many conveniance shops and to the very colorful and interesting area near the arcade and canals. The onsen - although not very exotic - was perfect. The breakfast good and the room with free tea, microwave and fridge available for the guests. The guesthouse is in a rather old but charming building with a maze of stairs and corridors.

I liked the traditional vibe of the ryokan, you can book to use the big family bath, the breakfast was nice, the lady was really sweet. They also have a cute shiba dog!

The owner (?) was a little grumpy but I didn't mind, other customers were slightly noisy (slamming their door etc) but overall nice stay in quite a central location!

Spacious room & clean. down to earth, no-frills, traditional Ryokan. A bit of a time travel which we appreciated a lot as foreigners. Unbeatable value for money given the central location. You only need to know what you're booking...;-)

It was my first time staying at a Ryokan, so overall I had a good experience. The room was quite nice and breakfast provided was quite good. The staff didn't speak much English but communicated well.

The toilet was a bit small. The WiFi kept breaking.

Fair location, 10 minutes' walk to main transport hub in Fukuoka. Friendly and accommodating old couple as hosts. Good value for breakfast and location.

Many stairs inside building, between rooms, bathrooms, showers and dining hall. Limited facilities

Location is great, traditional breakfast japanese style, host was kind. Many street food location just a few minutes by food.

We have very small room 10m2, for 3 people is too small. Price also was a bit too expensive when is considered value-money.
