We stayed for three nights at this property in March 2025. The location is outstanding, as it is directly across the road from Kenroku-en Gardens, one of the top three gardens in Japan. The property is also close to Kanazawa Castle, the Kanazawa Modern Art Museum, the D.T. Suzuki Museum, the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts, and the National Crafts Museum. We needed a property with parking and this was perfect as you parked undercover at the front of the house - so easy access to the car. Although the property is situated on a main road, the rooms are located at the back of the house, so we did not find the noise to be an issue. The top floor features an outdoor rooftop deck, which we didn't use due to the cold weather during our stay, but the view is amazing. There is a lovely Japanese shower room that includes a bath in the basement. Additionally, there is a separate toilet, a washing machine/dryer combo, and a double vanity. There is a second toilet on the 2nd floor where the kitchen and another bedroom are located. The kitchen is small and not very well equipped, but it is sufficient if you only plan to eat breakfast there. The property sleeps six people, but there are only two bedrooms, so I presume two people would need to sleep on the sofas in the lounge room. This is one of the few properties we stayed at with an actual lounge, so it was very comfortable.

We slept on a number of futons in Japan, but the futons at House Hotel Kenrokuzaka weren't that comfortable. The bedroom on the ground floor also needs darker blinds, as the room was too light in the morning.

We had an amazing stay at House Hotel Kenrokuzaka! The apartment is even bigger than it looks on the pictures. The amenities are just perfect - huge living room area, tatami floor area, really comfy and modern bathtub. It's also situated right next to Kenroku-en, which is big plus. Not to mention that the father of the owner was super nice and gave us a great tour of the house and amenities, something we didn't get anywhere else in Japan.

The only minus was that the internet was not fast, but it wasn't a huge deal for us honestly.

Stunning house. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Loved the ground floor spa bathroom area - really luxurious!! Enjoyed sleeping in the Japanese style bedroom - it's fun & comfortable. The fridge was well stocked with water & we used the washer-dryer several times. The friendly host met us on arrival, showed us around & explained how to use everything, where to visit & how to get around Kanazawa. He emailed to check we were happy during our stay and ordered a taxi back to the station for us on our departure. Location is great - we walked everywhere. There are some great restaurants in Kanazawa which are only 15 mins walk away

We stayed 5 nights at the house during the annual Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival. The house is in a great location (directly opposite the Kenrokuen Gardens and within a 5 min walk to the Kanazawa Castle Park). The owner met us upon arrival and was very helpful in explaining the entry/ access and use of all appliances. The house is over 4 levels and there is a lovely view of Kanazawa from the roof top terrace. All the rooms were clean and well equipped. The second floor (street level) has a tatami room for sleeping and the main bedroom (on level 3) has two large beds. The living room (also level 3) has a very large comfortable sofa, large TV and DVD. The small kitchen area has a bar sized refrigerator and coffee machine (pods). There is a microwave, rice cooker and single ring bench top cooker, but there is no oven or toaster. The bathroom on the ground floor ( level 1) is very spacious and the separate shower room also has large massage bath with overhead showers. The host has kindly provided all types of bathing amenities (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, face cream, toothbrush & toothpaste). There is a washing machine / dryer located in a separate area adjacent to the bathroom which was great, however, there was no iron or ironing board. Overall we found the house to be very comfortable and the host to be both helpful and accommodating. We’d be happy to return!

No iron or ironing board available and there were no knives in the kitchen. Also is would have been helpful to have appliance instructions available in English.

Great host! He gave a house tour explaining all the facilities, especially the superb bathtub with ambient lighting and a small jacuzzi. Very modern and convenient appliances such as a washer/dryer. Heater and air conditioning in each room and hallway make the house cozy especially during winter.

Bathroom and sinks are located in the basement. Location is a bit far from public transport and the train station. Not many dining options nearby.

The host was so lovely and was at the property to welcome us on arrival. It is across the road from the beautiful Kenroku-en gardens and has car spaces, which was great as we have a car. The bath tub was delightful! I’m so glad we stayed there.

It’s on a fairly busy road, so we needed our ear plugs for sleeping, and the stairs were a little confronting… definitely not for those with mobility issues or dodgy knees!

The whole house is beautiful, and excellently maintained, the owner is very thoughtful and we had everything we need provided The shower and baths are amazing

The location is abit hard to hail a taxi, we need to go to Kenroku-en/ Kanazawa castle to get one. It was raining the day we are in Kanazawa, if it was not, it would be a beautiful walk

the house was very relaxing unlike big hotels. it’s very family friendly and cozy. there’s a nice rooftop. very close to the kanazawa castle and gardens (about a 3 min walked). huge bathroom- spa like with all the amenities you need. nice living room and small kitchen.

Nothing at all about the property itself, but be aware you are a 2km walk from all but one or two fink options that are closed by 6pm

Spacious, excellent shower and bath, comfortable beds, futons, and large living room couch, washer and dryer for laundry, location right next to garden, parking in front of house, roof deck, friendly welcoming host

Road in front was busy but manageable, not many restaurants or cafes in immediate area but not a problem for those with a car
