We found this hotel to be very good in terms of rooms (ours were at the back of the property) being modern, clean, quiet and well maintained. The bathroom was in a separate wet room area to the toilet/basin which kept the toilet area dry. The hotel has a good laundry room (coin operated machines). It is a 30 minute walk from railway station but there are frequent buses (£1 ish fare) which stop near the hotel and there is the option to take taxis. Notwithstanding this, it is a great location for some of the key sights such as the castle, park and a number of museums. The surrounding area also has a great range of restaurants, cafes and shops.

We wanted breakfast at the hotel but there was no availability when we arrived and we were not warned during booking or check in that this could be the case. Having said that we found a good selection of nearby cafes offering breakfast options.

Of all the hotels I stayed in, this was my favourite in terms of the room size being larger than other hotels in Japan if you’re on a budget. It is situated near the castle grounds which is within walking distance. The room was very clean and I liked the amenities they provided. The laundry room was also handy. I think Kanazawa is definitely a place to visit, much slower pace than other cities.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The locality was really great, close to gardens, the castle and other experiences. Right next to Noh museum, Contemporary Art museum.

I am not keen on Japanese style breakfast unless buffet style so did not choose to have this. This is not a criticism, just my preference. Also had to choose a set time for this and I did not want to be constrained by times.

First Hotel might have that name as it’s the first hotel you see near the Modern Art Museum, and near one of the Kenrokuen garden entrances. Location is excellent, overlooking the castle wall and on street that leads to shops and restaurants (about a 10 min walk). The hotel is new and the interior design of the room was excellent. Comfy beds with good linen. Bathroom was super nice, and it feels a step above your usual business hotel as the room is a bit larger and so were the twin beds. Checking in and out was easy, but there aren’t many staffs around. I had the breakfast which I thought was delicious, but it’s a set Japanese breakfast and perhaps not for those who want toast and bacon. You can do laundry in the hotel and there are drinks dispensing machines but there’s not a convini store nearby, so get your snacks in the shopping streets up the road. The hotel is in walking distance from many attractions. If I went to Kanazawa again, this is where I would stay.

The restaurant at the ground floor should definitely do more interesting food in the evenings - it doesn’t seem to be a priority to have a restaurant there, but they’re missing an opportunity here.

Great location for the activities we wanted. Short walk to Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Gardens, 21st Century Museum. Able to walk to restaurants and cafes and craft stores. Loop bus stop outside. Good sized room and bathroom, comfortable bed.

Self check in was a bit clunky. No walk-ins for breakfast.

Upon arrival, the staff were quick to greet us. The lobby area was very welcoming with lots of seats. The twin room was above average sized. The bathroom was also very spacious. Everything is modern, sleek, and clean. The hotel and location were quiet, and our sleep wasn't disturbed at night or early morning by outside noise or other guests. The Japanese breakfast was a wonderful experience with lots of different foods to try, and it was beautifully presented.

Only trivial problems. We checked in at the reception desk and then had to check in using a machine. It was a little strange having to essentially check in twice. Bare in mind that I am a foreign resident living in Japan; I was asked for ID despite providing a Japanese address, phone number, and paying with a Japanese bank card. It's always a little frustrating being treated with suspicion even when I can provide all the same details as a Japanese national resident. The bathroom was beautiful, but the one downward light right above the mirror was not sufficient for a lady trying to get ready. Thankfully, the room's large windows and table placed in front of the window allowed for perfect natural lighting to apply makeup and style hair.

The room was quiet and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. I liked that the toilet and shower were separate rooms.

There was a large structure outside my room window that turned on and off frequently. Maybe another building air conditioner? It was a bit noisy with the window open and I like fresh air so I accepted the annoyance.

Good location- very handy to castle, gardens and shops. Modern and clean.

Had to get my own pillow as the four on my bed were like rocks! The cafe did not seem to be open for breakfast as advertised!

I loved the breakfast!! However a traditional American breakfast eater might struggle a bit because it was authentic Japanese and not eggs, bacon, toast and jelly. I love the fact the breakfast was very different on each of the three mornings.

The room was very small and the beds were extremely close together. But it was very clean, quiet and comfortable!!

The location was great and in walking distance to everything
