Rinn Kyoto is an excellent spot honestly, 5 minutes from the station, 5 minutes from a beautiful temple, and you can walk down any side street in Kyoto and see some beautiful architecture. The staff were absolutely brilliant, in particular I needed assistance with a phone call one evening and there was a massive language barrier but a staff member talked and translated for me at reception. The hotel provides for many items you may need during your stay, such as bath salts (if you booked a room with a bad, we mistakenly did not and with the amount of walking you will do in Japan you absolutely need to soak your bones), razors, face creams, shower amenities/accessories, etc... The hotel is extremely clean and well kept, all amenities are easy to understand and well maintained. The only issue with cleaning we have was on the cleaning day our small bag of tickets from shrines and activities we were keeping was thrown away when we were gone out, but to be completely fair I can understand why it would have appeared to be trash. Overall we were very happy and would reccomend Rinn Kyoto for an affordable but exceptional service to anyone looking to stay in Kyoto. We stayed for 6 nights. The location was an easy walk from Kyoto Station, and had bus stops out the front of the hotel. There were many cafes and restaurants within walking distance, as well as several convenience shops. The staff were friendly and obliging. The double rooms were small, but typical for Japan standards. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the room very clean. It had a good size foyer, with seating.

Check in wasn’t until 3pm and despite the rooms being ready, we could not check in early. It had a small room with microwave and washing machine, however there no where to eat your food except in the hotel room where only one chair is provided in a double room.

The staff was always very helpful and the amenities corner was amazing! We also loved that the lobby always smelled pleasantly (by the hotel's original fragrant diffuser). There's also a water dispenser that we could use to refill our in-room bottle and tumblers any time, which was especially convenient for our week-long stay.

We accidentally turned off the AC in the room once and after a few hours the room smells quite bad. Minor thing but I wish the face and bath towels could be placed in a higher place instead of the basket and separate from the (washed) bath mat.

Hotel was in a very convenient location being less than 10 minutes walk away from Kyoto Station. Room was very spacious and clean. Amenities are easy to access just down at the lobby. Laundry room was very clean and detergent was provided free of charge.

The walls are extremely thin and you can hear your neighbours talking which is very disturbing at night if you are a light sleeper and noise sensitive like me. You can also hear people in the corridor as well. If possible, install more washing machines it was a long waiting game when both were in use constantly.

While quite unassuming from the outside and front lobby, the room was extraordinary, the bamboo forest off of the bathroom was a unique and imaginative decorative design. The balcony was a perfect place for tea and watching the night descend.

The waste bins were too few and too small. Garbage was not collected even when the appropriate sign was placed on the door. It is a little incongruous to promote a “green” approach but not follow basic hygiene standards. It’s quite a contradiction to say the sheets and towels are only changed every three days of an extended stay, but the garbage is ignored.

The beds were very comfortable, which was fantastic. The apartment was a decent size (could have 2 large suitcases open on the floor at once and still have space to move about the room). The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location was also great - very close to the station, but still felt separate from the hubbub of the city.

The water in the bathroom has a very strong chlorine smell to it. There is free water available for guests so you can always access drinking water, which was a helpful counterbalance to this. It may be standard in Kyoto for the water to be this way, and it was a really small gripe of mine. Just something to note.

Spacious room, very generous and nice amenities (hair bands, bath salts, lotions, tooth brush, combs, and more). We were lucky to get the kingsize bed room for a good price.

Dissappointed that we as a family with kids got a room on the floor with the smoking area, but luckily the smell of smoke was not noticed during our stay. The room was beautiful with the tatami seating area and well equiped bathroom, but there was not enough place to hang your towel or clothes. Also the automatic sensor for the hallway light was annoying. If you don't want to disturb your sleeping child (or other roommate), you have to be creative with the sliding doors and the bathroom door to block the light switching on automatically whenever you move. It would have been more convenient to have a switch for turning it on or off at your own disgression.

The Rinn is about 2.5 blocks from the train station and our room was a quiet oasis away from all the hustle and bustle. We had room 1002 which is their biggest room and it was divine. I am traveling with my husband and 11 year old son; in this place we all had room it was the biggest hotel room I’ve ever had in Japan (third trip). There were lots of restaurants and convenience stores close by. The lobby was nice and had lots of bath amenities. We definitely took advantage of a nighty bath with epsom salts. The room was spotless and towel exchange and garbage were taken every day if we left the magnet on the door. There were 2 laundry machines and we did have to wait for them the hotel could have a few more for convenience. The beds were comfortable with nice sheets and duvet. We had a massive balcony but hardly used it. I would be happy to stay at the Rinn when I’m next in Kyoto.

They could have 2 more washing machines. Each cycle takes 2-3 hours so if you don’t time it well you will be out of luck. The screens were lovey to look at but they let all the light in at night. I had to wear a sleeping mask every night we stayed there. It may not be great for light sensitive sleepers. We did not have sound transmission problems, but that is probably because there were only two rooms on our floor.

Boutique property offering all the luxuries and facilities you could ask for whilst visiting Kyoto. Perfectly located within short walking distance to Kyoto Station, restaurants and a number of convenience stores. Could not speak more highly of the service and friendliness of all the staff at Rinn Kyoto. The additional facilities which included a communal microwave, ice machine and washing machines were an added bonus. Room was immaculately presented and exactly as shown and described. The location is incredibly quiet. The personal items available at reception (Toothbrush, Bath salts, creams etc) added a nice personal touch.

Hotel staff were very helpful with sending and receiving luggage. Location was decently close to Kyoto station, plenty of convenience stores and dining options around. Room was spacious and clean. Check in and check out process were smooth. I would definitely book this hotel again.

Fridge was noisy at night. Light isolation wasn't the best. Hot water took some time to come when using the sink. Bath water temperature was a bit colder than the shower water temperature even when putting both on 40 Celsius
