Staying here felt like a breath of fresh air in comparison to a lot of the city stays we experienced recently. Located in the scenic town of Kinosakionsen, the hotel feels modern yet traditional. The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. I would definitely recommend the half board option, both breakfast and dinner were incredible and the staff serving it were attentive and clear. Giving you great examples of classic Japanese flavours. The private baths are a great asset to the hotel, for when you want to take a soak without having to go into town. Everyone should try the onsen experience, but make sure you have time to try some cafes/restaurants. Some great eateries in the town. The manageress and her staff should feel very proud. One thing that would take it to that next level would be if there was a bar area, to have a drink in the evening with the other people staying in the hotel. Unless I missed that part of the hotel, in which case I will kick myself.

All of the staff were very attentive. Language barrier was tough because most of them couldnt speak english. However, we met two Indonesian staff who helped translate some of our basic needs. Most of them went along the way to really help us out. One of the things I learned there through their staff, they said "doing the best is our standard". So imagine the kinds of services they will do for you.

Check out time is rather early (10 am). Location is a bit far to walk from the hotel to the station. They have shuttles to take you to the station at arranged time. So do arrange your time properly to experience the hotel and the town fully. Though this was the case, The hotel did arrange a free drop off to the station because the front office staff saw that we were traveling with parents and 5 kids. They really do the extra miles to make our stay as comforting as possible.

This was such a beautiful property. I originally stayed here because of reviews saying the staff spoke English, and it seemed only one member actually spoke English well, but everyone who helped us tried extremely hard to communicate with us, whether verbally or through google translate. The room was absolutely gorgeous, and the shampoo and conditioner they provide is luxurious. The tatami mattress was very comfortable the view outside the room was breathtaking. We went during winter and while it was snowing we saw deer outside our window.

The lack of English made things a little difficult, it was a little jarring because the website made the hotel seem very English friendly which is why we booked it. But it wasn’t a huge problem, as the staff tried very hard to be accommodating.

I loved that the staff were so attentive and kind. They also have a free shuttle from the Hotel to anywhere in the Kinosaki Onsen town area. It was close to the rope way, temples, shops, and other activities.

I loved everything about the property. It was close to all the attractions. The free foot baths in town are the greatest. They provide cute Yukata’s for you to wear and walk around town. All you need is to book your room and everything is provided by this hotel. Less things to bring. From pajamas to toothbrushes and slippers. You don’t need anything else.

I have no words to fully describe the amazing experience I had. From the check-in till the checkout all the employees where amazing into all aspects, letting everything prepared beforehand for the check-in, with the room selected, clear instructions about the facilities, the tour in the hotel and showing how to use the installation, the welcome hand made message with Origamis in the room, the amazing hotel Onsen (which for me was even better than the ones around the city), kimono selection and the support to understand how to use that, the delicious food that the waiter had an special attention and patience to tech me how to eat king crab... It was more than a stay as I said it was a full experience that I will sure experience again in the future :) thanks to all the team for the dedication, sympathy and care that you provided into all the steps of this experience:)

It was perfect, nothing to complain

If I could give more than 10 would do it! Amazing service. Clean, spacious, and with a feeling of luxury. Both in-house baths are so great and they changed the days so I got to experience both sides. The food, omg the food. I stayed a night to get the experience of the dinner and breakfast and I am so glad I did. Absolutely gorgeous experience. Definitely will go back. The room was so spacious. Had a private bathroom but barely used it. I felt very comfortable.

The location is a bit far, but is very quiet and you get a shuttle to the station.

This hotel is almost brand new. Fully and very well and stylishly renovated and reopened end 2023. It has a modern Japanese design style in some of the room. We stayed in special room Ruri and it was stunning.

Small details (we gave feedback to front desk) that were not aligned with the image of high quality comfort. Bedframe (although brand new) was squeaky and really impacted the sleep. Very little cosmetic amenities provided (face cream, body cream). Carton cups in bedroom instead of proper ceramic cups. Asking to pay 110yen for extra egg at breakfast (when the price per night is quite expensive) . No amenities in onsen (no face cream

I loved the cleanliness and the staff’s hospitality and thoroughness. The facilities were top notch, the way everything was explained for us first time foreigners was very easy to understand and the in depth overview of each item of clothing in the room to our stay schedule was concise, informative and extremely helpful. Also the public onsen was amazing.

Nothing of note, this was a perfect place for our first ryokan stay.

The room was very comfortable, Meals were exceptional. Onsen was a great experience. Staff were amazing and went out of their way to help us. One of us was sick and needed to see a doctor. Hotel staff made arrangements with the clinic, drove us there and came in with us to make sure that we would see the doctor. We will never forget our experience at Shinzan Kinosaki and will be forever grateful.

The staff was incredibly friendly. The facility was very clean and the dinner and breakfast were delicious! The outdoor onsen was beautiful and the perfect temperature.

We should have stayed longer to enjoy all the accommodations. The checkout time is at 10am which is a little early. The breakfast was also between 7:30 and 8:30, which is a bit early for us as well.
