A nice family run ryokan near the Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway. This traditional ryokan was clean & had welcoming staff. The sleeping areas had tatami floors & sleeping on the futons was a great way to experience this ryokan. My meals were delicious & I was able to enjoy japanese cuisine at dinner & breakfast. Not only was this whole town filled with great Onsen baths but Tsuruya Ryokan had 2 private Onsen bath that guests can book a time slot each night of their stay. Ending the busy day with a night bath was perfect.

Wonderful traditional Japanese Ryokan experience Situated across from the cable car at the far end of Kinosaki Onsen but there is a shuttle bus from the station for check in and it’s really an easy walk to the station out on your last day. Wonderful banquets for dinner and a lavish Japanese style breakfast one morning we stayed and a simpler but delightful western breakfast on the other day. Situated just around the corner from the best Onsen (public spa baths) in town and right next door to the second best Staff lovely and friendly and welcoming

Not a criticism but Be aware there are no toilets and showers in most rooms. You use the shared toilets and the private hot spa bath in the hotel or the public baths. This is all part of the experience so embrace it. You sleep on the floor on Futons and these and the pillows could be a bit softer would be my only feedback

The staff are friendly & helpful! A shuttle bus from the train station will take you right in front of the hotel (or you’ll need to walk for 15 mins) & they’ll provide voucher to cook egg in the shop across as well as the pass to visit all onsen places (there were 4/6 available during our visits). The hotel comes with free yukata (and japanese jacket) & a basket for you to carry around. You can also rent a pretty yukata for 1000 jpy. Dinner & breakfast (at cafe across the street) are provided (delicious!) & free private bath. We really enjoy our stay there, lovely town with great places to eat & shop! Also a great hike up to Mt Daishi.

There’s a smell that’s of a mix of food & old, indicating the age of the hotel. It’ll be great if they put nice scents to improve the smell & overall vibes in the bedroom & along the hallway. Hairdryer in private bath really needs an upgrade.

A Charming Ryokan with Japanese Style Rooms. If you want the authenthic Onsen Experience you can't go wrong. The food was incredible. The Staff was very eager to help, even with communication difficulty. The Ryokan is right next to 2 Onsen, and only 10min walk from the other Kinosaki Onsen. There is a shuttle from the Trainstation to the Ryokan as well so getting there is easy.

Like in all Japanese style beds - you have to be comfortable with Futon, which can be much harder than european style beds. I would have liked to have a bit of a thicker futon, as the standard one was a bit too thin and hard. (to be fair I have not asked for an extra futon - I would assume it would have been provided if I did)

Our stop in Kinosaki Onsen to rest after long days of walking couldn’t have found a better ryokan. The breakfast and dinner provided were spectacular, the staff was incredibly attentive, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We chose the option with a private bathroom. The ryokan also offers free access to a private onsen bath for one session, and you can book a second session for the following day for an additional fee. Access to the town’s public onsens is included in the price, as well as a ticket to boil your own egg in the hot spring water and eat it whenever you like, the shop for this is located right across from the ryokan. As for the food, as I mentioned, it was perfect. We had two dinners at the ryokan and a generous breakfast. On the last day, breakfast was served at a nearby café (Utsuroi Tsuchiya Annex Cafe and Gallery), also included in the price, where they offered French toast and Honey butter toast with your choice of coffee or tea. We were absolutely delighted with the service, the room, and the delicious food. We would definitely repeat the experience without hesitation.

Our stay at Tsuruya Ryokan was truly exceptional. Centrally located within Kinosaki Onsen within walking distance of the majority of Onsen's and shops in the town. Right across the street from Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway. The rooms were traditional Japanese rooms with good amounts of space. Resort was very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The private onsens in the resort were also a great experience and allowed for a truly private onsen experience compared to the public baths. The truly exceptional part of this stay had to be the food however. The provided breakfasts and dinners were absolutely amazing. The amount of meat and fish was exceptional, the food tasted amazing and the menu creation was great. The whole experience was one of a kind. The staff were always welcoming and made us feel at home each time we stepped into the resort. I would highly recommend Tsuruya Ryokan to anyone looking for a truly exceptional Onsen and food experience while in Kinosaki Onsen. We cannot wait to come back and visit Tsuruya Ryokan again in the near future!

N/A - stay was truly exceptional!

Wonderful way to stay in Kinosaki onsen town! As a group of two, the family room was huge. The stay itself was a whole experience, and the staff were great at explaining everything. Included in the stay was a yukata set (three piece robe), wooden base, and wooden sandals to wear to the onsen. Dinner was fabulous crab feast with many courses we could barely finish it all! Also included in the stay was a nice western breakfast and an onsen egg making experience. They also have their own private onsen that you can book for 40 min.

The sink in our room had no hot water, which made it hard to get ready in the morning. The room was also pretty cold, but they provided a space heater which did an amazing job. The ryokan was further in from the town, but close to three of the seven onsens.

Excellent location, close to 2 public baths Very good ryokan experience with guide on how to wear yukata and even provide you with the clogs! Initial location is a little far to get from the main train station but there is a bus service. But walking back to the station from the ryokan is still doable. The breakfast is amazing as they give you breakfast at another establishment. Dinner is absolutely one of the best experience! Japanese snow crab is very wonderfully made.

I’ve stayed at Tsuruya Ryokan twice now and it has always been a wonderful experience. It is very conveniently located near two of the onsen and the cable car to Onsenji. The food is delicious and plentiful and the staff is very kind. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms clean. While not as fancy as some of the other ryokan available in Kinosaki, I would gladly stay here again.

The on-property bath is quite small but since it is so close to the public baths this is not a big con in my opinion.

Reasonable price for breakfast and dinner. The location was not the closest but still convenient where it was close to two public onsens and restaurants. After getting out from the train station we decided to walk to the hotel which was very doable plus on the way there were many shops to check out! Staff was very nice and our room was spacious. I really enjoyed just chilling inside their traditional Japanese room. For those who are not comfortable to share bath with others, Tsuruya have their bath by reservation. You don't have to share with other people and only enjoy with your family!
