Really nice pool area; calm and nice with the vegetation around. Nice to have a less busy alternative than the beach (it was quite busy in mid January) Fantastic opportunity to take a good yoga class and the massage I got here was also really good! Quite simple decor in the rooms and they are quite dark, but we liked it anyway. Very friendly and helpful staff guiding us to good places to visit around the island.

Access to a coffee machine would have been nice

The location was cool - it felt like a little jungle. There was always someone taking care of the facility. The beach towels and beach beds in perfect location were an amazing add on. The way to the beach was super quick. The cooperation with the neighboring hotel was great- you could enjoy a wonderful breakfast right at the beach terrace. Most restaurants, bars and attractions in walking distance.

The room Interieur was basic and the rooms were quite dark.

Location is the best. Breakfast is good but service is forgetful and slow. Biggest issue is that na balam is owned by the same owner as jaguar but you feel Like a second rate citizen because you’re not allowed to use the pool, the sunbeds or walk through the hotel even though our room was in the jaguar side. The sunbeds for na balam are separate on a different side. Grounds good use a little More inspired maintenance and care. Our family room was next to the sewer and after it rained it smelled terribly in our little city yard and into the room. They were quick to try to fix it but the smell lingered. Room had a good kitchen and dining table which made it easy to prepare some meals at home. Housekeeping was excellent! Yoga on site was amazing.

Facilities need some inspiration . Staff need to be less forgetful when they take orders.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. We had the poolside suite for our family of 4 (2 young adults). This was our little paradise tucked away 🏝️ The rooms were basic furnished, but beds were so comfortable! The air con was great & sleeping under the palapa roof was much cooler than I’d expected. If you’re a light sleeper maybe take earplugs, but the noise from outside was minimal. There was a small pool-never over crowded & a jacuzzi which we didn’t use. There was a lovely seating area just outside our room, perfect for a cool drink when we got back from the beach. Breakfast was just across the road in Casa del Jaguar (sister hotel). This consisted of juice, tea/coffee & specific items off their menu. The pancakes & waffles were delicious, but our favourite was the Mexican Omelette. Each morning we were given pool towels and beds were reserved at a specific area on Playa Norte. The location of beds on the beach was the best! We walked up and down the beach & this was by far our favourite spot shallow water to the left, but slightly deeper to the right, opposite the Mia Reef hotel. Beach parasols were also available. The hotel itself is Peacefully tucked away, but steps away from the beach & minutes from small convenience stores/dive shop & food carts/restaurants during the evening. *Please note photos below are of our room & the pool behind the red Na Balam beds are for Casa del Jaguar guests only.

Being a family of 4 adults it was disappointing that there was just one bed per room on the beach. There is no way an older family can fit on one bed. Maybe the hotel could either add a few beds or provide grass type mats that could be taken onto the beach & used by guests

Great location within 2-3 minutes walk of Playa Norte which was our favourite beach out of all the ones we visited in Yucatan. Lovely swimming pool with lots of shade so perfect for the kids in the afternoons. Grounds have iguanas. Large room with a safe and AC (though the room is well shaded so not essential). Hotel is 5-10 mins walk from the main street with restaurants and facilities but we never heard any noise. Staff very helpful and arranged transfers and golf buggy hire. Breakfast was included (you have it in the hotel opposite) and was good value.

Excellent customer service from the housekeeping to reception. Melissa at front desk is superb, very professional and helped us iron out a booking issue with her manager in the best way possible. Na Balam is definitely good value for money - it may not be the newest and have the most modern of amenities but it is in best location in Playa Norte steps away from the nicest beach on the island with a secluded tropical feel. Also close walking distance to restaurants in Hidalgo and street food. Property grounds is well maintained and is quite lush. Hot tub being not-super-hot is a non issue - we preferred it that way and was a good way to end a beach day. Staff at OceanVs restaurant where breakfast is offered was also warm and friendly - kudos to Nicholas and the rest of the morning crew. We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed the food and thought it was enough variety for our family of 5. Love the guaranteed reserved bed. Option for walk-in Yoga and massage within hotel complex is great. We will definitely stay here again - it was a good island vacation spot!

A few small additions would really give it a little extra charm. An electric kettle/ coffee maker (even in OceanVs has good coffee), a hammock (like in their sister hotel Casa Jaguar 😃), a jute rug on the tile floor etc, a retractable clothesline in the bath .. all minor but just a few suggestions!

Bit dated

The room was very clean, we had access to the beach club with beach bed, as well, as towel service and swimming pool. The staff was very attentive to our needs. WE lobed the garden and the silence in the garden the most, just beautiful.

The breakfast was very slow to arrive - more than 30 mins waiting for eggs while not a lot of people were there in the restaurant. The shower leaked a bit.

Great location On the North Beach. I enjoyed the heavily landscaped "jungle" the hotel is tucked away in which made it very quiet considering the proximity of the road! A quick minute walk THROUGH Oceans Beach Club to the playa which went out very far at knee to waist high water, crystal clear blue! The " Breakfast Included" menu was limited to Na Balam guests but it was soooooo well prepared, that we never minded a bit! Actually some of the best "free" breakfasts I have had in Mexico. An added perc was the yoga classes that we thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend Na Balam.

Well, WE DID go on Easter/Spring Break and because the beach is shallow at the North End, It was VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY. ( lots of kids ) Also, I don't know if ALL of the rooms have the option of an "adjoining room" for families, but we stayed in #16 and could hear the neighbor's voices all too well. Not a deal breaker, just something to take note of.

Staff was attentive and responsive. Never felt neglected or never had a request denied. Best water pressure of any hotel I have ever had in Mexico. Bath and bed were beyond expectation. Housekeeping was over-the-top.

Bottled water is essential in Mexico. This hotel had two pint bottles filled in the room, and expected us to keep returning them to the front desk (who then passed them to housekeeping) for refilling. Housekeeping would deliver several minutes later (sometimes more)It became untenable. We supplied larger plastic bottles to keep the number or trips to a minimum. If they put a large container in each room, the issue would be solved. Not a convenient system.
