A beautiful art deco building with a quirky decor. What made it special for us was the concierge. He made the whole experience worthwhile. The dining facility was fantastic.
The later check in at 3pm did take a bit of the experience away from being excellent. The concierge’s attendance to detail saved the experience and made it special.

Beautiful hotel in a great location for exploring Amsterdam. The rooms are large and luxurious and take you back to a different time. A new January 1st policy for free minibar was an added bonus. Room service was available. Staff was kind and helpful.
The check in process was long and I had to wait in the lobby after my check in time because the room was not ready. Front reception spent a lot of time answering room calls when they should have been helping waiting guests. The reception staff was young but kind, however, they really need a front house manager who will take charge and direct staff to specific duties.

The hotel is beautiful and has some incredible architecture. Its in an excellent location and the staff are so friendly and accommodating.
We were offered help with our bags to which we said no, but they still took them. Normally, this is great service, but I had organised a surprise in the room for my partner for his birthday, and I would have preferred if that was a private moment going into the room together. Unfortunately the staff refused to let us let ourselves into the room ourselves and opened the door, pointed out the surprise and then proceeded to show how the room worked. Again, normally this is a good thing but I do wish that "no thank you' was listened to and that we could of celebrated privately

From the moment that I arrived to the property, the staff were ready and willing to assist me. I arrived pretty early and they had a room available for me which I really appreciated! The entire staff was awesome from the front desk receptionists to the housekeeping team. I am very happy that I chose this hotel and it was perfect for me as a solo traveler. Another great thing was the location, the hotel sits right behind everything so you can get good pictures, shop, and eat before returning to the hotel.
I did not like the fees associated with things that you could enjoy about being at the hotel. For example, if you wanted to order room service, you would have to pay the high price of the food and also a 15 euro service fee to have it delivered to your room. It just felt crazy to have to pay a lot for the food and a service fee to have it brought to your room when you're in the same building as the kitchen. Also, I recommend getting snacks and drinks from a store rather than using the mini-bar. I paid 20 euro for 4 sodas, this ridiculous!

The location of the hotel is near the central station and apprx a 15 min walk to the Dam square, away from all the noise and crowd which allowed us to have a good night sleep. The room size was very convinient, I guess larger than most of the hotel rooms in the city. There was a daily variety of tea, coffee and cola in the room fridge as well as a stroopwafel cookie.
For a 5 star hotel, you would expect an AC in the room. Since its summer, it was horribly hot and their only solution was a noisy fan. There was no usb slot for charging so I asked for an adaptor plug to borrow, their answer was "we only sell them" !! The mattress wasnt very comfy, you sink into it a bit.

As always Izaac is really kind, professionnal and as disposal.
About the other member of staff I really wonder after more than 10 years I come there every year where they get recruted, the reception is at the best totally rude and unprofessional. I get there for 3 days and I dont understand why Ive to pay for the breakfast instead of charge in on the room. The minibar is free.. for the first day after it doesnt get reloaded. The room is still really great but tot my mind a lot of work/renovation wouldnt be too much (anchor apparent, couch instable, lightbub off, ..) a lot of details that shouldn't be detail for an beautiful historic monument of that kind.

The location of this hotel is just amazing, only few mins walk from Centraal station and the city centre as well. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Really a great experience. The breakfast was good as well, definitely recommend. Also the room on top floor looking at the canal side was nice to enjoy the city views from above.
The staff checking up on you when you are in the room, like 3x in an hour, and always a different person. It's great that someone comes and asks if you need anything and offers to change towels/ refill fridge etc., but i like my peace as well :D

Liked the room (26) - this would have been perfect if it had a canal view. Location was perfect for us - central but away from the most touristy areas while close to bus, tram and train hubs. Very tranquil at night. The breakfast buffet was high quality and excellent for choice. Enjoyed the use of good pool and spa facilities. The lounge bar was a good place to wind down in the evenings and served good food. The bed gave me the best hotel sleep I can remember.
Very little to criticise and nothing important went wrong. It would have been better if face flannels were replaced daily in the room's en-suite bathroom which was otherwise perfect.

Great location, really nice breakfast selection. The hotel is nice but certainly not 5 stars. The bar is very good and the staff are excellent and very helpful.
The hotel is very dark due to its design having been a headquarters building when built in the early nineteen hundreds. Whilst this did not put us off, all the lights in the hotel seemed to be on permanently in order to keep some light. Having said that, architecturally, it is a joy. The size of the rooms and the height of the ceilings are really interesting.
