Because of the hotel owner and a friendly traveler who was also staying there, I felt quite at home AFTER I had settled in. The area was quiet and yet very close to everywhere. I was checking in around 10 pm and slept soundly.

The room I got was rather small esp because of a gallery (also part of my own quarters) that led to the bedroom and contained doors for the shower and the toilet. It took a bit of getting used to. I also was offered a larger room but that one felt underused with spooky paintings inside, and a window on the far side. So I opted for the smaller room, which, once I got used to it was very serviceable on nights 2 and 3. There was minimal breakfast (snacks and juice) but available at all times. Some visitors were able to use the breakfast more than others. There was no offer to refresh the room or the towels in the three days I was there. Still, it worked for me as a solo traveler.

I really enjoyed the location. I travel alone many times and i need to feel secure and in acessible places. The spot reunite this needs. It's not a fancy place, but is very clean, even the shared bathroom. The host is super adorable, it leaves water bottles available in the floors for the guests, and also the breakfast is available to eat any moment of the day with no exceptions. It's a very familiar spot and calm, away from the classical Amsterdam confusion. I never catched a bus or train in the city i did all by walking, so the location is great.

The stairs! I thought Amesterdam Stairs were a myth - they're not. The are very small and inclined, you must be very careful, specially with the bags.

Kees, the owner is amazing. The place is great too. It’s an Airbnb kind of experience. The breakfast bar is available 24x7 which makes you wonder why other places don’t do the same. I liked the unique and homely feel of the place. The location is amazing as you’re right next to a canal and get the typical feel of being in Amsterdam. Stairs are exactly how the other reviews state, so maybe not the best fit for the elderly or in case you have lots of luggage. Kees also upgraded my room because there was availability so my stay couldn’t have been better. He also helped me with my luggage up the stairs - definitely went above and beyond 😄

Everything, the owner was a really nice person, was told that there was tea, coffee and continental breakfast available 24 hours a day, plenty of it, no limits, reception area lovely place to sit and relax.. the toilet was spotless, ..you could bring your tea coffee up to your room bringing down to be washed when you finished,location Ideal, rooms had all I wanted,was overlooking the garden and was tranquil, loved it and will be definitely be back.

It was close to everything yet on a quiet street. The complementary breakfast and coffee was a nice touch. Everything was clean. The owner is such a kind man and I enjoyed talking with him.

It didn’t affect my stay, but the house does not have air-conditioning so if you go in the heat of the summer, it may be uncomfortable. However it was cool during my stay and it wasn’t an issue.

A wonderful, small, very cozy hotel in a historic building, on a canal, next to the river, almost in the heart of the city, but in a very quiet place. The windows of my room looked out onto a beautiful, large garden: fresh air, the aroma of flowers, birdsong. In the hotel lobby 24 hours a day there are 2 small refrigerators with food, as well as sweets, pastries, tea, coffee, and fresh fruit. This is included in the room price. On my next trips I will stay only there. This hotel has a soul.

It was very nice to stay in a hotel that gave us the feeling of living in Amsterdam, rather than a hotel. We loved that it was a small business owned by a local. It was quite central and easy to get around.

My brother and I stayed in a hotel room with two twin beds, which were quite small to sleep on. However, everything else met our expectations.

Excellent location. Breakfast 24/7 we arrived very early and our room was ready, which was great because we were able to prepared ourselves to go out early. You have a lot of things to eat 24/7: juices, coffee, cereal, milk, hams, cheese, etc, fruits, yogurt. The room was super big with excellent view to the cannal :) I left my hat on the lobby and I was worried, but when I came back it was there :)

My stay at the hotel was very good. I rented a very large room and it was very comfortable. At the reception they always treated me very attentively and kindly. I would stay at this hotel again. It is a little far from the center but that seems better to me because the area where it is located is quieter. I walked back most days and it will be approximately 25 minutes walking from the center to the hotel.

Everything about the hotel was very good really.

The hotel is very clean and the host is a very kind and available person. I had the highest room (4th floor) which has to be reached with stairs. Fresh bottled water is available at the top floor. The room was big, with all comforts and very cozy. Everything that could have been needed was ready and available, and this is not given for granted nowadays. If I get back in Amsterdam I'll surely reconsider staying in this hotel.
