Great location- walkable from Centraal Train Station, and in a lovely neighborhood. Rooms are quite small, but the street level bar/ gathering space gave us the comfortable space to hang out and enjoy a drink in the afternoons.

CONSTRUCTION!! The canal in front of the hotel is being refurbished, so there was lots of construction noise, and pretty much every time we returned to the hotel, there was a different walkway. It wasn't too big a deal for us, as we were mostly out during the days and evenings, and don't have any mobility limitations. But, if you have limitations or are looking for a quiet spot to rest, you probably would be disappointed.

If the check out is later than 11:00, you will be pay an additional fee. 3. There was no hot water. The water was slightly warm, but not hot enough.

A truly special stay in the heart of Amsterdam We absolutely loved our time at Max Brown Hotel. The location is beyond spectacular—tucked along a picturesque canal, within walking distance of Central Station, and surrounded by charming streets and shops. The views from our canal-facing room were remarkable and made the experience even more memorable. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout, but a special mention must go to Adi, who was truly exceptional—thoughtful, attentive, and added a personal touch that made our stay feel extra special. The hotel itself is stylish and cozy, with lots of character. Just a note: it is on the pricier side, and the traditional Dutch staircases are not for the faint of heart—so pack light! Overall, we loved every minute and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for those wanting an authentic and unforgettable Amsterdam experience.

The stairs were daunting!!

Staff were so so helpful, recommending different places to go, advising so much on places to see, how to take transport. These staff went above and beyond. So very helpful, cannot thank them enough for how comfortable they made our stay. The room was clean, petite, but it was the charm of Amsterdam Canal District. Didn't expect it to be much bigger. Everything was beautiful. The building itself was a beautiful representation of the architecture there. Lopsided buildings that are quite beautiful, overlooking the canal. Few minutes walk to Amsterdam Centraal, restaurants are abundant around the area. Museums, canal cruises, you name it, all within walking distance. We enjoyed the lobby so much we had spent some time just enjoying coffee there. The interior was cosy and warm, bare in mind small, but I personally enjoyed that. Beautiful little nook to people watch, drink a coffee or read a book. Beautiful vibe

The stairs are quite steep, but manageable

The best location! I have travelled to Amsterdam 6 times in the last 2 years, all in different hotels. This was by far the best location, we didn’t use taxis or public transport once as we were able to walk everywhere. City centre is 5 mins away. Despite this the hotel is situated on a really quiet road on a canal which is beautiful. The staff were amazing giving us recommendations for what is nearby which is always helpful. Was overall a really lovely, clean and pretty hotel. Coffee station with a bar and snacks were a really nice touch.

We booked the “standard room” and it is very small. Was still comfortable and had a decent bathroom but yes was very small. But as on a city break didn’t spend much time in there. Would definitely book this hotel again I would just pay a bit more for a bigger room.

The property was stylish and chic. It was clean and looked very nice. The reception was one part of the building then you had to walk outside for the rooms but this wasn’t an issue. It was quite narrow and steep up the stairs but it was standard and no issue at all. The room was very clean and up kept by housekeeping everyday, it was a good size and the bathroom was nice and modern, the shower had good power and the beds were comfy. No issues at all. The location was good too because the centre was 7 min to walk to for me and a strip of good shops and food was around the corner. Loved this place and the staff were very helpful giving recommendations everyday and just very nice overall, not to forget the coffeeshop just around the corner.

The view from my room was just other rooms in a different building but that’s what you’re paying for when it says it in the description. The outside view is so nice because it’s the canals with a nice bridge so I would recommend a good view. This wasn’t too much of an issue anyways.

Amazing location only a few minutes walk from the train station and right beside the canal. Room had all the basics that we needed. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and really quick to answer questions.

Not necessarily a negative for us but for anyone with mobility issues our bathroom was down a stairs in our room, might be worth contacting the hotel before booking to see if all rooms are like this if this is an issue for you.

Location was spot on, friendly staff and very welcoming. Reception was very nice and clean Asked for milk for room and was served straight away. The whole building was spotless.

Had to ask twice for issue with toilet to be fixed, once on arrival got back from evening out and still not repaired, so had NO sleep first night due to continuous banging from toilet, but when we asked to move room the next morning the situation was resolved while we were out for the day. Had to also put kettle on the floor to boil it as lead wouldn't reach from top shelf so separate tea/coffee area might be better. (Small table under where situatted) tripple room.

The staff were very helpful, we loved the balloons and hand written note for my partners birthday - felt very welcoming. The room was pristine - very clean and tidy, bathroom was clean and the toiletries provided were lovely. Bed was very comfortable and the view from the room was perfect.

Steep stairs - but this is hardly to complain about as it is expected in the tall amsterdam buildings and nature of the location :)

Romi and Ramses, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. Their genuine kindness and eagerness to assist made me feel truly valued as a guest. The room itself was a haven of comfort and coziness. Small but has anything you need in it .

No elevator. But the staff helped me with the luggage.
