I had a great 4-night stay at The Old Nickel Hotel! The location is one of its biggest strengths — just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal, which made getting around super easy. It’s right in the heart of the city, but tucked away enough to avoid too much noise. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth. The room was compact but clean, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel also has a cozy little bar downstairs that gives it a nice local character — and a good place to unwind after a day of exploring. If you’re looking for a central, no-fuss base in Amsterdam that still has charm and history (the building has a cool backstory), this place is a solid choice

The location is very central and right in the middle of city centre. The nice cleaning lady from Ghana is very polite and professional. Checkout was fast and easy. The room was cosy and convenient. The private bathroom is very clean. I enjoyed my stay.

It's not the hotel's fault that the street is noisy at night. There is a karaoke club in front of the building and the people who go there stand in the front door and talk very loud. I also think the steps of stairs of the hotel are a little too little and narrow, especially if you carry heavy luggage upstairs.

Cute and Well located hotel - right along a commercial street and very close to the harbour and Central Station. Arrived before check-in time and the front desk attendant L....a was a complete gem. She was very friendly, professional and accommodating. I was able to leave luggage in the store room until official check-in time. Room was comfortable and there was fan to help with outside being 29°C. Would definitely return!!

No elevators, steep stairs. Noise from outside (comes with territory since we're in the the heart of it all). Regardless, would return.

The location was amazing. Just a few minutes walk from the train station, very centrally located. We got right off the train and were able to check in. The room and bathroom were small but this was just as it was advertised in the booking, so we knew this going in. We packed light so it wasn’t a big deal for us at all. If you were traveling with lots of luggage and other stuff this might be a problem for you.

There are some steep stairs to get to the top floors, just be aware. We had no issues getting up them, we had only one piece of luggage to carry.

It is at the centre. 2 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal railway station. Very close to the buzz of everything. All the attractions are within walking distance. Perfect location for Amsterdam visit.

The room is very small. There is just the space for a single bed and one feet walk. It's pricey for such a small room but it is still more affordable than other options out there.

Location was excellent literally less than a five min walk to Central Station and Tram stops No air con but a fan in the room which did help and the noise of the fan drowned out the noise of a close by bar ...which didn't bother us this is a central location so some street/bar noise is expected no complaints on that Room was small (but not tiny) and comfortable with plenty sockets and room to store suit cases out of the way

Steep stairs (with narrow steps) bags could be get difficult to get up and down and ....but lady that checked us in helped bring them up the stairs. Low water pressure in shower

Property was in a great location and the wall paper of the room was quite nice

There were only around five channels on TV, We were unable to cast from our phones to the TV screen despite the option being presented. The composition of the shower was very strange. The water went everywhere so we had to use multiple towels to dry the floor, The room was very small and a bit cramped. There was no room to move around. There were no options for a late checkout or just to extend for a few hours you had to buy a whole day which was quite off putting.

Located in the centre, near the main train station within walking distance, and close to all the fun centres. Rooms are also pretty nice. As everyone is on a visit, we expect to live in a location where we see the tourists coming and going. In addition, they provided a free luggage drop-off facility on the checkout day!

There is no kitchen facility. We can not even make a tea or coffee. Highly recommended to provide a small kitchen facility in the hotel.

Well everyone talks about the stairs. I expected them. Basically they are tough to negotiate if you struggle to climb stairs or like getting high. It was the room I didn't like. It's so small it resembles a jail cell. But if you can deal with very basic, it's friendly and proximity to everything makes it worthwhile. I'd stay here again on my own. I wouldn't bring my wife here.

The Hotel is near the Central Station, Just 4 min walk. It was quiet although the hotel is in lively neighborhood. No breakfast but affordable in this area. Super nice staff. Had good talks. Did I mention, that I slept very well both nichts?

Imagined the rooms bigger. But they are super clean and renovated.
