This hostel is fantastically located in the centre of Dunedin and 2 minutes away from the public library which stays open unti 8pm during the week. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable dorm rooms with spacious drawers that can fit a large suitcase (bring your own padlock). Curtains on the beds and lights and charging points for each bed were great. Straight forward process for late check in and well communicated
Only 3 toilets which is not much given the capacity of the hostel, however I never had to wait too long. The manager is great but some of the other staff - who I think are backpackers themselves (?) were not particulary friendly.

The rooms had huge storage spaces for luggage under the beds - larger than I've ever seen elsewhere. I don't think they could be locked. There were signs asking guests to keep their luggage out of the aisles, and it was heeded in my room. A lower bunk was saved for me, as requested. There was an electrical plug and a light inside each bunk space. The bunks had curtains.
I couldn't figure out how to use the light inside my bunk space. One of my roommates traded lamps with me, but that lamp went out too. They were complicated electronic lights and should have been just plain lights that worked the way all lights work. It's a pain when hostels/hotels think they are being modern and innovative when they should just try to be practical. Give guests something they are familiar with.

Location is excellent, central city. Facilities all good. Stayed in dorm, individual private pods within the dorm, with access to own USB connection, night + reading light, mirror & fan within each pod. Really comfortable & private if you want that! Duvets, pillow & linen all provided. I didn't use the kitchen facilities, but showers were clean & good. I checked out a day early, & they managed to resell my bed so offered a refund, which I didn't expect as they were under no obligation to do, but it was very much appreciated!!

The location was fantastic, right in the center of activities of Dunedin (restaurants, bars, and shops), and very close to a major bus stop. The reception staff let me check in a bit early, which was much appreciated. The common areas were cozy and open for everyone, and they were clean and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable and private, with the underbed lockers being large enough for a medium-sized suitcase.
The keypad for the room door could sometimes be a bit unresponsive. My room was a bit far from the toilets, which was rather unfortunate since I am a frequent user of toilets in the night time. Also the hostel is more suitable for more-mobile bags like backpacks and duffel bags since the stairway is rather narrow without elevator. Also might want to get some earplugs if you're noise sensitive.

location was perfect for our stay, Room was nice and clean although we didnt get towels left in our room .. I messaged reception and they had left me one there. Towel was dirty tho so I didnt use. This is the first backpackers that felt like an actual backpackers. I know Dunedin is a bit old school with the city and all. The staff had the facilities cleaned and vaccuum which was really good! Family room was really nice too big room and big windows!
I didnt like it was Shared bathrooms, would rather have a male bathroom and a female bathroom. Need more bathrooms actually unsure if that was the only 2 bathrooms for the whole backpackers. Entrance way needs a bit of work coat of paint maybe. Needs signs in the backpackers we got lost to which direction to go to and this other did too.

Mr Ben, the owner, was the best hostel owner I’ve ever met in NZ! His staff were amazing, too - Matty & Micah, Carmen, Isis, Ai, & 1 more nice guy - they were like my family for my entire 7-day stay! My 8-bed dorm room was very spacious, love the new pine bunks, lounge area & kitchen/dining area also were very spacious! Location was perfect, smack dab in downtown, 5-minute walk to the InterCity bus & local bus stations & Countdown grocery, 1-minute to the main shopping/dining/cafe street, library is across the street, town center is a 2-minute walk! The staff does the laundry for you for a fee. The best part, I was there for the week of Christmas and the owner, Mr Ben, provided & baked a ham & chickens and they were the best baked ham & chickens I’ve ever had - perfectly seasoned, plump, juicy, & sooo tender! He even provided the wines & beers!!! About 1/2 the hostel guests & I participated in cooking/making the side dishes & desserts!!! He even reserved the TV for a group movie time on Christmas Eve & provided popcorns!!!! you rock, Mr. Ben!!! even made signs for the free soups I made for everyone from the leftover chicken & ham bones & meat scraps for soup bases!!! It was the best Christmas ever away from home!!! Thanks a million, Mr Ben & your amazing staff for the best hostel & staff in my 7-wk stay in NZ!!!! Isis, thanks a million for helping me carry my luggages down the stairs!!!
No lift, but, minor inconvenience, only a flight up, but, Mr Ben, the owner, was very kind and carried my luggages up!

The room is neat, tidy and bunk bed is made of wood, so not the creaking type when you climb on it. That feels nice. Also, very friendly and helpful staff and clean washrooms kitchen
The water only comes every 15 min? I used the toilet and there's no water from every tap and was told to wait a few minutes and the water will be available every 15 min and unavailable the next 15 min?? I don't understand but that's what happened

Comfy beds with privacy curtains, even though it was a 10 bed dorm it didn't feel like it due to the layout of the room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Kitchen is well equipped and even had a selection of herbs and spices as well as salt, pepper and oil
Shower stalls are a bit too small and have very little room to keep your things like fresh clothes and stuff

Friendly people, very good location. No parking from the accommodation, but some (paid) options on the street. All facilities were very clean, isolating option of the pod is cool. However, electricity on your bed only works with the key card, which makes it impossible to charge anything while you're out of the room and generally charging works extremely slow (should be looked at and improved). Apart from that, excellent stay!
