This is a fabulous place to stay. It’s cosy, comfortable and homely. It feels like a giant airbnb. If you want value for money at Mt Cook village, then stay here because you can cook your favourite means in a well appointed kitchen with mountain views. The alternative eating at Mt Cook Village involves buying overpriced pub food or overpriced restaurant food at the very limited range of options available. For context, a restaurant meal at a nearby option might cost around 1/3 of a nights accommodation at the Alpine Lodge. Even the only option pub hamburger is a significant fraction the cost of the Alpine Lodge. Instead at the Alpine Lodge, you can have your favourite food for the cost of its ingredients and eat it in the deck watching the sunset on Aoraki.

Cash payment was accepted, which was cost-effective as it avoided bank surcharges. The room had beautiful views of the mountains and the village. The shared kitchen was well-equipped, and its balcony also had mountain views. After check-out, I stayed in the shared kitchen area for a while due to the snow outside, and the staff kindly left the heating on.

Given the high price, it would be better to replenish the tea and coffee bags during daily room service.

My stay at Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge was exceptional. The lodge is conveniently located along a scenic road that offers stunning views of Mount Cook, making the drive to the accommodation a memorable experience. It is also ideally situated for those who enjoy trekking, with easy access to various trails. One of the highlights of my stay was the night sky, which was breathtakingly clear due to the lack of light pollution, allowing for excellent stargazing. The lodge itself was warm, the water supply was reliable, and all amenities were convenient and well-maintained. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay with no significant issues to mention. I highly recommend Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge for anyone looking to explore the area and enjoy a cozy, nature-filled retreat.

AMAZING views up the valley to Aoraki / Mt Cook from the shared lounge and kitchen / dining area. Plenty of space in the shared fridges and freezer. Lots of cooking equipment, cutlery, crockery, tea towels, etc Helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Right next to the visitor information centre. Handy to walking trail.

Bunk room was smaller than expected having seen the photos of other bunk rooms, very tight with 4 people. and luggage. On the available stovetop we found only one of the small element was working. (I think the other stove was fine but was being used by other guests at the time)

A private entrance via the slide door; possibilities to use a full-equipped communal kitchen upstairs; a good bathroom; a polite staff; a walking distance to the visitor centre and to the museum in the Hermitage Hotel.

A too limited parking space (we expected that our car could be parked near the entrance, but actually every day we had to search for a free space in the public parking nearby or use a gravel parking lot behind the motel, which was rather inconvenient for the wet weather); no hooks or shelves to place our clothes; also we expected a larger room space because we booked a studio.

The place is simple yet wonderful- it is tired , it is old and it is like you are back in the 70's but they have kept it clean , warm and welcoming with an incredible view of Mt Cook... unlike other places it has the added value of an old styled lounge, kitchen ,open plan room upstairs for everyone to cook, relax in with an outdoor deck to take in the breathtaking views. Its also a 1 minute walk from the hermitage hotel for your dinner, breakfast or cocktail... the price point, cleanliness and everything close by ...you cannot fault it :-)

For the price, location, cleanliness and staff - there is nothing you can complain about, yes, it's very simple and old (70's) era but it has everything you want.

The room was on the ground floor. The common kitchen and lounge was amazing with plenty of room for multiple people preparing and eating meals. The lounge faced Aoraki and when it was clear, the view was breathtaking. Being close to the trailheads deep in the valley was fantastic. The bathroom was cozy but had a wonderful shower.

Our room was right by both the entrance and the guest registration window, so at times it was pretty loud. We were awakened several times by doors slamming, people talking and motorcycles driving up to check in. The room space was limited. There was little room for us to open our luggage and have access to it.

The location was perfect. Close to hiking trails and within easy walking distance of the Hermitage Hotel and the Mountain Cafe - the only real restaurants in the area. I also appreciated the very comfortable lounge and shared kitchen facilities.

I wish I had looked further before arriving - the nearest grocery store is over 25 miles away. With only 1 decent restaurant in the village, having the ability to make a bit of dinner in the kitchen would have been a nice option. I didn’t realize this until too late.

Beautiful room with a view of the mountains! Great location with free parking. The lodge has a big communal kitchen & lounge area with balcony so plenty of space to relax & chill out. The bedroom (for 4 of us) was an ideal place to sleep only & value for money (compared with other properties) Would highly recomend staying here ! Felt safe.

Nothing negative ! Quad room had 2 singles & a bunk bed but was adequate for our 2 night stay

The lodge is located at the perfect place. A 1-2 minute walk, and you will get a full panoramic view of the snowy mountains. In fact, you can already see it in the shared kitchen and lounge area! It was so refreshing seeing snows on trees when I opened the curtains, and the price for the accommodation was not bad. I think this is a great place for a group of friends who enjoy the natural scenery and cooking meals together.
