Good value for money - I had a whole dorm to myself which was delightful!

The socialising area is outside the dorms so a friendly and joyous party until midnight made it tricky to sleep. It was a Saturday night though so I guess it was fair enough for the seasonal workers who seem to be accommodated there to want to relax!

Almost everything, great people and value for money was decent. The rooms are nice and I was even upgraded.

Only slight gripe was that the room backed onto a property that had a heap of very loud dogs that were mostly fine but occasionally fired up

It provided everything required. The common areas were well equipped and the other guests were all very friendly.

I was not told that the carpark would be locked overnight until 7am, and ended up losing 2 hours from my itinerary as a result. The bed springs felt very unstable and it was the flattest pillow I have ever used.

Extremely friendly and forthcoming reception. Were put in a 4-bed room (only the two of us!), although 6-bed booked. Cool concept the rooms facing the little garden - feels cosy. Mattress and pillow so comfy! Rarely slept so well. Air fan in room. Kitchen has everything you need. Easy to clean. Common food area from former guests. Labels to tag your food. Showers and toilets good. In front of toilets big, deep, long sink which was quite convenient for us. Tabel tennis with balls, rackets and net. So nice, every accommodation should have it. There was also Billard and a chill out area. Parking. Cute cat.

Small black grasshoppers (or crickets?) in kitchen and bathroom sinks (probably hopped in there and got trapped). But they were kind of cute and didn't disturb us.

There were x7 of us and we had booked x4 rooms. We were in the backpackers area and the rooms fronted an enclosed courtyard with only one entry from the street which suited us. We had travelled on motorbikes (x4) and felt the bikes were safe, unseen from the street and parked directly outside our rooms. Also, good restaurant across the road for breakfast, the Colonel next door and shopping center nearby.

All good.

I was pleased that the owners take pride in keeping the environment pleasant for guests. The bunk beds were comfortable and the bathroom facilities were clean. Guests are responsible for ensuring the kitchen and entertainment areas are tidy and clean if using them, which they did during our stay.

The driveway gates were locked when we returned to the lodging around 11 pm. Fair to say we were told they might extend the lock-up time from 9.30pm but that wasn't confirmed. A minor inconvenience as we managed to access our accommodation via an alternate route. We appreciate management wanting to keep the premises safe and secure for guests.

I liked the place and will definitely get back. Plenty of space for parking, a big kitchen, good layout. Clean and well working showers with good pressure, clean toilet. Pool table and ping pong in the lounge. Tables outside, you can eat out and enjoy a warm evening. Friendly staff. A fan in the room.

The room was not clean when I moved in: the rubbish bin was full or rubbish including banana peel which attracted flies who lived there for 4 days I stayed. There was also someone's teacup left on the floor. This means the room was not checked after the last guest. The place does not have a can opener. The one in the drawer is more like a toy - does not work. No sault in the kitchen. Make sure you bring yours. Most fry pans do not have matching lids. A bin for food scraps is located outside of the kitchen (I was told it was done to not attract fruit flies, but I found it odd.

We got locked out of carpark because we returned after 11pm And we should have called after hours number but we didn't want to wake anyone up but we could have because the staff were very kind and helpful The staff did suggest it but maybe extra info about gate being shut after dark

Brilliant Backpackers. Outdoor-indoor communal areas has a very cool vibe and is well equipped. Communal area to hang washing too (or dry out tents etc). Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful at checkin and checkout. Rooms are four beds to a room, so no overcrowding in the dorms themselves. Comfy bed. Super clean. Hot showers. Great vibes for travellers and hikers, lots of Te Araroa hikers around.

Only downside would be the pillow was very thin, I struggled to get comfortable.

Location was nice. The staff was very nice and helpfull. Kitchen en facilities overall are excellent. With a small patio with 2 hammocks.

The bedrooms are very light because the ceiling has a window in it without a curtain. The curtains for the normal windows are not big enough to cover the whole window. The matras was completely overused and needed a urgent replacement.
