This was the second time we have stayed at the Devon Hotel, the room was a good size with a view of the sea across the road. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very well maintained and the staff were all incredibly helpful. Marbles is the Devon Hotels own restaurant and we go to dinner there at least twice during our stay as the food is delicious. Next time we want a break we will head to the Devon for a few days relaxing in New Plymouth.

Nothing as everything was perfect for a few days away. The only irritation we did have was that neither my husband or I had a big enough appetite to eat both breakfast and dinner in Marbles every day.

Had a fantastic stay. You can tell that the hotel really cares about their customers because not only do they provide you with a comfortable room, excellent service & food, but they also provide free activities such as bike hire, entry to local golf club and also to a local pool. We didn’t get to try the free activities due to time constraints but will definitely be trying them on our next visit.

Disability parking is really limited although there are lots of street parking available at the back too. It might be helpful if some disability parking spots are added at the back carpark, so it’ll be easily accessible near the ground floor rooms.

Pool was fine but I could not get spa to work. I regularly do aquacise but was looking forward to spa to finish off. Could not get bubbles to work. Would have liked to have different milk (got some from restaurant). And more variety of tea and coffee Buffet dinner was not so good on first night as I felt the ham and salami did not seem to be fresh. As I had no transport I needed to use your restaurant for breakfast and . Second night was better. Also would have like to do bike trail along coast but found your bikes very hard to manage as used to Ebike. Also had little air in back tyre.

This hotel feels like a home away from home. So many great features (gardens, pool, art works, restaurant, washer/dryer, bicycles, free pass to pool complex, proximity to the beach) …. but the #1 standout feature is the excellent staff (right down to the friendly cleaning and maintenance staff) who are always available and ready to give that little bit extra that makes the Devon stand out - I had a couple of recent long stays and would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming stay in New Plymouth. The Devon Hotel exceeded our expectations! Highlights included our cozy room with incredibly comfortable beds, the invigorating shower with great water pressure, and the wonderful pool and spa facilities. The friendly staff made us feel right at home. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches like the complimentary washing machine with laundry powder provided and dryer. Very comfortable well sized room and fantastic amenities. Restaurant food was amazing and spa was spot on after a day exploring.

I did not enjoy other patrons, in room down the hall, going in and out of their room a lot during the night, the auto closers on the door are quite loud, or their talking loudly on speaker phone in the corridor. I also had someone try to turn the handle on my door several times. Fortunately, I had locked it. On the booking side, I did not like the fact that it was cheaper to book for a 2 person stay than a 1 person stay on Booking.com. My option included full breakfast which really wasn't required. Should have booked direct!

All staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the 3 nights we stayed. Great value for the quality of the place. Very clean, very tidy establishment. There is plenty of on-site carparking. Cool bar on-site and the hotel restaurant buffet was pretty good. Free bikes are available, which was amazing.

Location was a bit further from the main area of town than I'd expected, but that was my own fault. There was an electric jug and microwave in our room (724) but had to place them on the floor to plug in as a moden was in the socket, not that it was a big deal to do, just slightly annoying.

Pillows were awesome. WiFi excellent. Pools great. Staff very helpful & room clean & tidy. Overall a lovely stay.

Shower water pressure was exremley weak. It took me so long to try & get the shampoo & conditioner out of my hair it was ridiculous & the toilet was dripping wet after I finished my shower so I had to wipe it down each time. Not exactly what I had planned for my holiday. The most surprising thing was there was no lift to get to the upper floors. As pensioners with bad hips we found this extremely difficult. I would have expected a complex as large as this to have a lift in it.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic experience. It's 100% worth the money – from start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The management deserves special appreciation for running things so smoothly and professionally. The entire place is spotlessly clean and well-maintained, and the room cleaning service was excellent – timely, thorough, and very attentive to detail. I’ll definitely stay here again and won’t hesitate to recommend it to my friends and family. If you're looking for comfort, cleanliness, and great value, this is the place

The Devon is a gem. Our room was a Queen and although smallish it was but comfy. The price was extraordinary for the place. It was more like a resort. Great public spaces; bars; restaurants; art everywhere. A bonus was the free guest washing facilities. Friendly staff and lots of parking. No need to go anywhere as this place caters for your entire stay. AU$193 for 2 nights was an absolute bargain.

The location is on a main road however traffic noise was not an issue even with the window open towards the road. You do need to close the window (no screens it seems in many places in NZ) so the insects don’t bite you at night. That only leaves you with air con. It didn’t appear that there were many restaurants to walk to, unless you go to the motel across the road. However, staying and eating at The Devon is not a trial - good options from an all you can eat restaurant, to a good variety of dishes to eat in the bar/lounge area.
