Awesome motel that made you feel right at home as soon as you checked in. The lovely hosts were warm, kind, and caring, which made you feel welcome as soon as you set foot on the property. My mum and I stayed in a room for a family event in town. The room was spacious, homely, and made you feel right at home. It certainly is awesome value for money! I highly recommend Northgate Motor Lodge if you need accommodation in the New Plymouth area!

That we didn't get to stay or use the amenities as much as we would have liked. As we spent much of the time caring for a family member who was in hospital during our stay

Lovely n warm room even without the heater on, despite the horrible weather outside. Clean and tidy unit with a well equipped kitchenette. Everything in the unit worked and plenty of power points for devices. I have back problems so would be unfair to comment on the beds which probably would be ok for most people. Enjoyed the stay there n would stay again.

Didn't concern me greatly, but the front units are next to a main road n some of the traffic noise may not suit some. Rear units would probably be okay from traffic noise

The manager was clearly stressed, and the motels were fully booked... I had emailed several days prior to our arrival asking , if it would be possible to drop our luggage off around 10am and return later in time to freshen up in time for our family funeral down the road at Eagers. ( I never got a reply) When we arrived ,he complained that it wasn't fair on the ckeaners etc and how busy they were. I felt like a real nuisance.. However, to give him. credit, he eventally gave us a key to a motel, and we were able to move in.. it wasn't exactly the welcome we'd hoped for - especially given the circumstances. He was perfectly pleasant the next day when the key was returned, so clearly, this was just a "blip" on his part.. but STILL!

We travelled as a family and used 3 units. Having a kitchenette each allowed us to have meals together and there was a nice BBQ area to also sit together outside when it wasn't raining. The spa pool was great and when you booked in to use the spa pool, they also gave you additional towels to use which was really good. Close to everything and easy to find as it is on the main road. We all thought it was good value for money and the facilities were really well kept and the whole place was always clean. We stayed a week and always had access to clean linen and supplies in the rooms were checked and replaced each day. On the main road but double glazed so very minimal road noise when the windows are closed.

The only thing we didn't like was the bed in our unit was a bit tired and didn't give much support but the other beds in the other units the family was in, were really good. We stayed for a week and would have liked to have a broom to sweep the room.

Next time, we'd stay upstairs to avoid hearing people above us stomping around late at night. The main light in the centre of the room is quite harsh so we ended up using the other lights - maybe a softer tone bulb would be nicer?

The room was recently renovated and was very well presented. It had double glazed windows, air con and 50 channels on SKY. Also had all necsseary kitchen utensils. The biggest thing though was the unit was like new,

It's on a busy street so getting in or out can be a little tricky. Having said that there is another exit, and our room, and probably others are quiet.

Well equipped kitchen, with pots, dishes for 2, wine glasses, cooking utensils - big savings on restaurants! BBQ area, laundry. Suites are beautifully laid out, very spacious, with lots of smart design for road-weary travellers. Also many low-cost shopping options nearby, everything within a short walk.

No issues at all, for such a central motel.

The shelf on the inside of the fridge fell off when I put my water bottle in it, it had obviously been fixed there before as it had thick selotape on it The shower dial was really tricky to move for turning off the water when finished I got scalded on the back of my shoulder from the hot trying to turn it off. Not great

Everything was fine and clean. Bed was comfy and staff welcoming. Would recommend to others and certainly stay again. Thank you

There was no book of information and Wi-Fi in our room. I asked staff about one and it was given to us straight away the next day. Need to check ceiling corners for cobwebs as we had a nice one hanging down. Els doesn't do spiders and we did forget to tell staff. Just a heads up really.

Handy location. Double glazing which meant the room was super quiet in spite of being on a main road. The owners were very helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to help us. The bed was comfy and the room easy to heat. The room looked newly refurbished. All you ever need in the kitchenette was supplied. Good job owners!

A heater / fan in the bathroom would have been good. All else was fabulous
