Had a fantastic stay. You can tell that the hotel really cares about their customers because not only do they provide you with a comfortable room, excellent service & food, but they also provide free activities such as bike hire, entry to local golf club and also to a local pool. We didn’t get to try the free activities due to time constraints but will definitely be trying them on our next visit.

Disability parking is really limited although there are lots of street parking available at the back too. It might be helpful if some disability parking spots are added at the back carpark, so it’ll be easily accessible near the ground floor rooms.

The Devon is a gem. Our room was a Queen and although smallish it was but comfy. The price was extraordinary for the place. It was more like a resort. Great public spaces; bars; restaurants; art everywhere. A bonus was the free guest washing facilities. Friendly staff and lots of parking. No need to go anywhere as this place caters for your entire stay. AU$193 for 2 nights was an absolute bargain.

The location is on a main road however traffic noise was not an issue even with the window open towards the road. You do need to close the window (no screens it seems in many places in NZ) so the insects don’t bite you at night. That only leaves you with air con. It didn’t appear that there were many restaurants to walk to, unless you go to the motel across the road. However, staying and eating at The Devon is not a trial - good options from an all you can eat restaurant, to a good variety of dishes to eat in the bar/lounge area.

The hotel had lots of facilities to entertain the kids. There's a seating area outside for mini pinics, a sunshade area with outdoor furniture to view the poolside, and people watch or provide supervision and changing rooms with jacuzzi as well as the regular pool. You can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the same building with Marbles restaurant downstairs. I had a spa bath in our room with two tvs, so you dont have to fight over the tv. Free wifi is also available. Walking distance to local shops - we walked all the way to New Plymouth mall and eateries. We also had free laundry and dryer in our room for long stay. 😁 also looks like the pool exterior got a repaint which was great.

The extraction fan in our bathroom wasn't working. Just an improvement, not a dislike - the lion statues by the pool could do with a paint job 😀 will match the rest of the ambiance.

Property was lovely. Had a beautiful pool. Lovely bar and restaurant. Room was super clean and well laid out. No issues or problems when asking to help with the cot.

The only thing would be, we went to dinner at marbles and it was outstanding so decided to go for the breakfast the following morning. All was great until I thought I would have a bowl of peaches after my daughters looked so good! Only to find they were fizzy, fermented and off. Staff moved very quickly to remove them from my table and the buffet which was good to see - just hoping my daughter doesn’t get a sore tummy.

Just wonderful! From first contact, to the late night presence, good morning wishes, calm manners and happy staff. Love the art work in the hotel, gardens.... I spent alot of time trying to assimilate to the time difference just looking for the next art piece. We really enjoyed the bikes and pool. The 24/7 room service menus were excellent and it was so good to be able to wash our clothes. Lastly.... Tohu wines! So good. Ngā mihi maioha kia koutou! If I were to offer constructive feedback.... It is very practical to utilise the bathroom basin to wash cups and fill the hot water jug, however... perhaps bottles of water in the fridge to offer instead. I am Māori, it is a cringing idea to contemplate taking such items into a body washing and cleansing area ie: tapu (sacred), tikanga (customary practice) We managed by refilling our water bottles and rinsing our cups in the garden. Thats all I got... cultural thoughts and affirmations. Thank you

I absolutely loved the little romantic touches added to the room in celebration of our 1yr anniversary. • the fruit bowl filled with chocolates included • champagne and wine glasses nicely set up with a single stem rose in vase • the postcard of beautiful Mt. Taranaki was a nice touch also and we are very appreciative thank you 😊 The room itself was very spacious and pristine. I liked having the option of being able to relax and watch the TV(s) either in the living room area or the bedroom. The garden was very well maintained clean/tidy - I loved the Marble statues and I loved being able to have the option of relaxing in the sun under shade/umbrellas set at the tables and having a cigarette dispensary for those of us whom smoke. The pool I thought was based in a convenient location not too far from the tables/seating area for those who have young ones to keep an eye on.

I didn't like that the connection to the WiFi was either running slow and/or disconnecting whilst trying to watch movies. • The bathroom sink was clogged. • The water pressure to the spa bath and shower wasn't the greatest.

The pool and spa were awesome although they need an easier way to get in and out of the pool as the steps are very deep steps . The staff were awesome and really went above and beyond for us . The tv in our room was old and not working so well and they got one of the staff to put a new tv up . They upgraded our rooms to interconnecting rooms without any extra charge . The cleaning staff were also amazing and helped me to carry bags in from the car and bought us fresh towels when they were needed.

Issues with parking can be a little bit rough especially as some people park in the hotel car park just to go to the restaurant to eat meaning less car parks available for guests that are staying at the property and the steps in the pool are very hard to manage and could do with improvement they are very deep steps . The height of the steps were each up to my knees and I’m not that short . And the shower in room 702 could use some improvements to stop the water going towards the door of the bathroom we had to use towels to try to keep the water from going by the door.

The Devon Hotel was a gem of a find on our journey around North Island. The facilities were excellent with our room being well appointed. Staff were friendly welcoming and helpful. We ate in Marbles Restaurant and pleased we did. Both the quality and range of food was excellent. Similarly, breakfast offered a range of options which were value for money. We have visited a number of hotels in New Zealand and the Devon Hotel is up there with the best of them.

Staff are the perfect amount of accommodating and relaxed. Pool and grounds are beautiful and history of the Devon in guest book is a nice touch. Rooms are clean beautifully arranged feel like a luxury breakaway. Will 100% be going back Perfect distance from town for quiet relaxing and close enough for beach walkways and nightlife. Devon provides bikes if wanting to do the beach front or a quick trip round town.

Not even a down side but front roller blind left gaps on side that allowed passers by to see in. A curtain option would have been better as we were ground floor road side.

Absolutely loved how clean it was and the location. The bedroom was very nice, quiet, and again CLEAN. The hotel itself was very lovely with incredibly delightful kitchen staff and housekeepers. Parking was great and location was great as it was close to town but also down the end where it was abit more quiet (not so much foot traffic)

Reception staff were okay however, maybe I'm just old school, but qhen you walk into a hotel it's nice to have the front of desk Staff smiling and saying hello, how was your day but we didn't get that...they talked when we approached the desk but weren't all that friendly...it was quiet sad because there were so many elderly this weekend and they would have really appreciated a welcoming friendly face at front of desk. Water filter was also horrible to fill ya bottles.
