The customer service was excellent. We were traveling late at night (6 hour trip) and we communicated with the establishment of our intention of late arrival. They were considerate of our situation and when we arrived at midnight they did not make us feel uncomfortable for being so late. The following morning they continued to be warm and hospitable. We also appreciated a ground level room that was not far from the entry point which was fantastic given how tired we were from our travels.

The restaurant was a little bit of a let-down as the costing of what we purchased was overpriced for the size and quality we received.

I am deaf and had my Hearing Dog with me. The residential area behind was perfect for walking her off a main road. The staff made me feel incredibly welcome and valued. As I was attending a convention at The Devon, the location was PERFECT. It suited me better to be 'off-site' when not at the convention. I had a small meal from Juliana's (chicken nibbles & garlic bread). I was able to pay and arrange to pick it up on my way back to my room. Best EVER chicken nibbles I have ever had!!

The vent above the toilet looked a bit dusty. Ranchslider needs some TLC - would not slide. Had to lift and pull.

My family and I have always stayed here whenever we travel to New Plymouth and we always love the service and facilities. Always outstanding. This time however, I was really shocked and disappointed that the breakfast menu doesn't include hot food, only continental buffet of cereals, fruit, toast and juices. They don't even offer porridge which I always had. Sadly missed the chef who always filled my orders.

We always enjoy our stay here. This time staff went above and beyond when our vehicle became undrivable. They kindly held our car keys overnight until a tow truck could remove it the next day. Accommodated a later checkout so we could organise multiple rides coming to collect us and our belongings for the drive hm. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Accommodation and onsite facilities are perfect for our family and walking distance to the skate rink and beach down the hill.

The rooms were decent sizes, there was a pool onsite which wasn't huge but was covered meaning could be used in any weather. Our rooms weren't quite ready when we arrived, and as compensation a drink was offered at the bar which was most appreciated on a hot afternoon - the pool table was available for $2 which appealed to our group while we enjoyed our drink waiting for our rooms. Additional towels were available at reception for the pool which was most appreciated as some of our group hadn't packed towels. Very fair for the price paid.

As mentioned above, our rooms weren't quite ready despite us arriving half an hour later than expected. Wasn't a big deal, and we were fairly compensated for the inconvenience.

The suite was well presented, consisting of a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. we were provided 4 super comfortable beds, 1 king and 3 singles which was perfect for our 5-person family. Auto lodge staff were very accommodating considering the last-minute nature of our booking (unexpected) it was handy to all amenities which was great, as it was our first time in New Plymouth.

We did not the skirting in the shower was a bit dirty (looked like mold, couldn't be sure) as well as behind the little rubbish bin. but nothing major everything else was very clean and tidy.

Anything that was wrong was fixed immediately. It was quiet other than the builders. We could walk to the beach and to town.

It was getting a bit tired but that was reflected in the price. No soap dish in bathroom meant residue on vanity top. The toilet ran constantly and the bowl was stained from the continual flow. Hate to pay the water bill! I would have liked a clock as I had no idea of time. The ventilation system for the shower was inadequate so everything steamed up. One chair had a broken leg. Very obvious when we entered the room. I would have thought a cleaner would have noticed that during carpet vacuum. We had to report it and then hope we wouldn’t be held accountable.

Able to watch the All Blacks vs France game, beds very comfortable, having a heat pump was great to keep the room warm, happy with the state of the bathroom and enough available towels, the shower was excellent, the kitchen served our needs and having a microwave was useful. Overall, it was a very good stay and will book again.

The bathroom fan became very noisy over the period of our stay and the uneven gap under the carpet in our room. My grandson trip over it but was unhurt, thankfully.

It is wonderful being able to travel with our little dog and the hotel is located very close to the walkway along the seafront, which is fantastic. The staff were particularly polite and helpful.

The rooms looked a bit sterile. If they put up a couple of paintings of Mt Taranaki and local artists work this would really make the rooms look so much better and also be a great way to promote the region and the local artists. The shower area is looking tired and could do with a bit of paintwork, although the shower itself is really great - strong pressure and hot water. The net curtains had come off the rails over the sliding door, and need rehanging.

Very quiet room on the seaside of the complex - in fact we could hear the sea so quiet were the nights. Lovely. We stayed to attend meetings and a dinner and having everything onsite was fantastic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nearby access to the coastal walkway, just a short stroll away.

I understand it's likely for safety reasons but the porch light being on all night outside our room made the room very light. Yes, we had the blind closed on the small kitchen window but the room was much lighter than we're used to. The bathroom was tired and the tiled ledges on the outside of the bath looked like they needed a good scrub.
