The staff were friendly, helpful and offered to help carry our bags. The room was clean, tidy and quiet. Great water pressure in the shower and light-blocking curtains. The motel is based close to town.

The electric blankets were kept at reception, so we had to install one ourselves. It stated "chocolate for guests" on Booking.com but there wasn't any.

This motel was a real treasure of a find. The location was ideal. We were warmly welcomed at reception, room was ready. Room was large with large queen plus a single bed. Great kitchen setup. Water pressure amazing especially in the shower. Room very clean, tidy and well appointed. We had awesome view of the mountain and from the balcony door the sea. Best value for money motel I have stayed at for some time in NZ. Very much recommended!!

To be honest nothing I didn't really like, if I had to say something, maybe the plug in smelly thing was a little over powering but honestly just unplugged it and then no problem.

This is one of the cleanest accommodations I have stayed in while in New Zealand. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised to have a one-bedroom apartment with a king bed, a queen bed, and a single bed in the room, along with a fully equipped kitchen, a separate washroom, a separate toilet, and a separate shower room. The location, just behind the Festival of Lights, is excellent. The facilities, especially the cooking amenities, and the quality of service make this an outstanding choice. The owner is incredibly friendly, and I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I will definitely return in the future. Only If the floor in the washroom can be renovated in the future, that would be great

Shout out to the Japanese lady at the front desk. She was so friendly and helpful. We had a late check in and after we called she made sure we were set up, gave us good info of New Plymouth, and helped us with drying our laundry. when we left she saw us out. Great hospitality! She was the highlight of our stay. The room was spacious and had all the basics for a comfortable night's rest. The price is very reasonable.

Maybe we got used to receiving some milk with our reservation, but it's not included. The establishment is a bit dated, but perhaps that's why it's so affordable. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear your neighbors talking. However, none of these were big deals.

What great, friendly staff! They were able to easily accommodate our slightly earlier check-in and were so friendly. Our room was large and comfy with great beds and electric blankets. The TV was great and the location is hard to beat - so easy to find.

We wish that real milk was provided, rather than just the packet creamer mixes. The stairs up to our room were quite steep and tricky but we can avoid that next time by booking a room on the ground floor. It would be nice to have a more centralized heating system or at least a separate heater for the extra bedroom.

Very friendly staff, exceptionally clean and well presented room. 50 sky channels. Allocated parking. Sea views from deck. Unit had everything we wanted, extra towels, and if you wish serviced daily. Totally recommend Parkside Motel and Apartments to any traveller coming through New Plymouth.

Absolutely nothing i could fault

Good value and staff were very friendly! Came for Te Matatini 2025, and Parkside was RIGHT next to the venue, so happy about that! 2-3min drive to town. So happy with the accom, it was spacious, beds were comfy and shower was nice :) Loved how it was very affordable considering it being a very busy week right next to the event and they didn’t put their prices up as I read an Airbnb raised theirs +300%!

We like staying here, it is in walking distance to Pukekura Park, Racecourse and is relatively quiet, although dependent on the guests they have there. this can chop and change. There is a park for all, if everyone plays by the rules. Coffee plunger is handy. Shower is average.

The queen bed was really uncomfortable. I'd like the owners to sleep on the bed and tell me how your back is in the morning. I ended up having to scoop my child out of the single bed each night and transport her to the queen so I could at least sleep. The heavier you are, the worse it is.... The water tastes awful, we filled up our drink bottles from a few places throughout New Plymouth, so it seems an isolated incident. Perhaps the owners could consider a water cooler for people to fill up from. Lucky we bought our fan with us as there is no aircon or fans. So if you come in summer, FYI.

The accomodation was exactly what we needed. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities at your finger tips. The layout was perfect for myself, my nana and my two small girls for our stay- great value for money! Location was great and walking distance to Pukekura park and a two minute commute to town (I would have walked if I wasn't travelling with my nana).

The only thing that I could see as an issue for some would be road noise. Our room happened to be one that backed onto the roadside. However, this was a non-issue for us as it's something we're used to.

The host was super friendly and after asking if we had plans, had some suggestions for places to go see and things to do which was really appreciated - decent blankets and heater which were great with the cold weather

Would've been nice to have an option for a dimmer/smaller light for when I put my son to bed but still wanted to do some things - kitchen light still lit up the rest of the room so used bathroom light with door open which worked - not a big deal but just would be handy 😊
