It is a really great hostel, there is nothing I disliked. I liked especially the cozy common areas and that the hostel was kept clean. I also used the shuttle service two times, which was very convenient.

Not the hostel's fault - last night two new roommates checked in and were visibly sick and coughing all over the room without covering their mouth and then they also closed the window for the night. I know the hostel provides advice on how to act when you're sick in the bathrooms, but some people don't care. Whether visibly sick people should be able to chek into dorms is another topic, but I guess it's complicated to notice every time. So not the hostel's fault, this can unfortunately happen when you book a shared room.

Loved the location. 5 minute walk to CBD shops, restaurants, supermarkets etc. Cottage had character and everything you need. Lots of windows and doors to let a breeze through on a hot day. Comfortable bed and chairs. Shower was great. Outside table and chairs a nice area to sit at. Amazed at high quiet and peaceful it was. It was perfect for our weekend stay and we would definitely stay again.

Nothing we didn't like but a hook or ring on the wall by the handbasin would be great to hang the hand towel on. Maybe a little shelf to place toilet bags etc on? And a tidy up on the paint in some areas?

We were in town for my son's sport, and booked a single and twin room. Brett was super welcoming and the communal areas were very homely and bright and comfortable. Everything was really clean and the kitchen was more than well stocked with pots, pans, utensils etc! Rooms were great for the price, and showers hot! Would be perfect for groups/sports teams etc, for sleeping, catering and chilling! Was great to chat to others staying there too. Will definitely be back. Located on a quieter side of town, but easily walkable (less than 5 min) to busier streets in CBD. Private twin room was comfortable and shared toilets were spacious! Room can get quite cold at night during late autumn. There was a heater but we didn't use it and survived with the thick duvets. Very cozy common area with a fireplace (!). Staff was friendly and helpful even though we checked in late at night.

I used the toilets on the left of the 2nd floor and it was quite a dark corridor! Some signs might have helped :)

Hostel is very well equipped with a spacious kitchen and lots of cooking space and utensils. There is a large dining area and lounge. Hostel is only 15 mins walk from the Intercity bus stop and only a few minutes walk to big supermarkets

There were no lockers in the room I was in (but Brett was about to install them so this shouldn't be an issue for people in future!). As it was though everything was secure anyway and Brett kindly offered to store valuables for me if necessary :-)

The owners of the place are very hands-on and friendly. They often learn names and they have interest in making sure you have a good day. The location is quite nice as it's in a residential area but a few blocks walk from Central New Plymouth plus two blocks away from the incredible Pukekohe park. It's an excellent and very comfortable base for all your new Plymouth adventures. Especially since they have a shuttle service to go do many of the Egmont and Taranaki walks

The kitchen is a bit small for the number of people that sometimes try to use it, but such as hostels. And there's also limited showers and toilets per floor, though thankfully I did not encounter too much problem with having to wait for a shower or a bathroom.

Fantastic location, it is a 5 minute walk to the stadium and a 5 minute walk into town. The staff are all very friendly. The room has a little kitchenette that makes life easy when you are trying to keep costs down.

Bathroom is tiny but works fine, having a place to store bags while you wait to check in instead of just in the corner would be awesome, that being said my bags were left there for a few hours and were perfectly safe and they allowed us to check in early.

I had to take a cottage unit as all the dorm beds were full. It was a clean and spacious unit, and the manager gave me on arrival a small (350ml) carton of milk for a coffee with the ingredients in sachets in the unit. On previous stays where I was in a dorm, the lounge, dining room and kitchen were clean and spacious. It is a 20 minute walk from the city bus depot and Puke Ariki library and museum.

I had to book an extra night and because it was in different dorms the staff actually upgraded me to a 2 bed dorm for my whole stay :) Near a supermarket and plenty of takeaways. Although it's not in the CBD, it is an easy 10min walk to the centre and seafront It had a great homely vibe to the place, definitely my favourite hostel in New Plymouth

Friendly helpful staff. Excellent location, just on the outskirts of town, easy walking distance to city center, and grocery store, eateries etc a block away. Beautiful common areas with a comfortable lounge, awesome sun room, nice dining room, good kitchen, and outdoor area. Nice decor, vibe and very clean.

Walls were thin. Can hear the neighboring rooms quite clearly.
