This was a hotel that met all our needs. As we only had 2 days here we did not use most of the amenities. The room was a decent size, comfy bed, soft sheets and also soft pillows. We had a view of the alleyway. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The rest of the hotel boasts a gym and a heated pool. We didn't find time to use either. There is parking on premises, but as there are sometimes events held here and the restaurant is open to the public, sometimes the car park gets full and its hard to find a spot. We were walking distance from some areas, but had a hire car so it was easy to get around.

Amazing location, clean, beautiful large rooms, I think recently renovated based on previous comments saying it was tired and dated, as it was modern and lovely in our room. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Pool facilities were amazing with the kids. Will 100% book here again next time we are in New Plymouth.

Beds were quite firm although still perfectly comfortable, pillows not very fluffy, and not enough towels left in our room for the three of us, but such a minor negative. Towels were easily sorted. Wouldn't put me off staying again at all.

I actually loved everything. Room was comfy and quiet. Food (breakfast and lunch) were delicious. Pool was awesome, child loved it. Walking distance to shops and beach. View of the beautiful mountain. It was perfect. Thank you so much for having us.

We could only use the spa for the first night as it needed filling on the 2nd night so was cold. Should probably fill it up at 10pm so hopefully it's warm enough by the next day. Maybe put some rails in the shower to dry swimsuits.

Good location. About a 10-15min walk to most of the resturants/cafes or a 5 min drive. Plenty of car parking. Room was clean. Pool and spa were great temperatures and were definitely enjoyed after climbing Mount Paratutu. There was also a gorgeous piano in one of the downstairs areas and the staff were so kind to let us play it.

We used some of the cutlery and bowls in the room but when the room was cleaned the dishes were not taken and left dirty and there was no detergent to clean them.

The staff were helpful and friendly during a busy holiday time. The rooms were very clean and tidy and beds comfortable. A dinner booking was missed and the restaurant staff went out of their way to fit us in.

After hours access on New Years Eve was tricky and on returning from event it took a bit of time to be able to enter the hotel. Would have been good to have been advised about the process so we knew what to arrange given it was New Years Eve and assume we weren’t only guests coming back after midnight.

It’s central to the city, rooms are just right for a night away.

The reception from the front of house team was frosty - we seemed to have interrupted a heated moment between staff upon check in which was a little awkward. Not a dislike but normally when we stay we’re on the ground floor, this time we were on the second floor and the noise outside was so noticeable.

Good room and bathroom but door between the bathroom, toilet and rest of the room did not remain shut, it needs a boat hook or bolt; it means that steam and odours get into the main room. Low staff levels on reception and for food and drink on Sun evening but very accommodating.

Gym is not worth packing your kit for. It is a walk-through with very little kit and the guest laundry in the corner so too hot for exercise.

Comfortable rooms. We stayed on the first floor so the room was a little dated (it appears rooms on the higher floors have been renovated). Each room has Air Con and access to the pool and spa was an added bonus. Plenty of free parking for guests onsite, and within walking distance of supermarkets. Beds were comfortable.

Some aspects of the room appeared dated (including peeling wallpaper, ceiling fan not functioning, mouldy grouting in bathroom).

Great swimming pool for a family holiday and the receptionist was so friendly! Very nice common areas and the room was good value. Easy communication before check in. Overall a great stay!

The housekeeping staff made several comments about being short staffed and I think this made it hard for them to keep things to the standard they'd usually like to. Our room was clean and tidy, just took them a little longer than they usually would. Some of the common areas looked like they weren't being cleaned as often as usual e.g. stairs, gym. This is probably the only thing that could let down an otherwise lovely hotel.

The pool and spa were great and the opening hours gave us flexibility to use. Michelle the receptionist was super helpful and my grand daughter kept asking for her every time we walked passed reception lol. We stayed two nights and house cleaning were very helpful. The bed was comfy, good shower, good layout of room. Toilet/shower/sink room very small.

The entrance to the pool is through the gym or bar. Soo if your using the gym equip it can be distracting having kids running in and out. The food was ok? Not what I had expected from this hotel. We ordered in. Would have appreciated a bit more quality and care? eg $19.00 for burnt toasties? Steak meal $38, steak chips salad. The steak was overcooked, and the salad was whithered and looked like it was poured out of a packet. We ended up eating elsewhere.
