Our stay at the Caves Motor Inn was really comfortable and our room was spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed to be able to cook for ourselves, which is what we needed. It was well located for getting to the Waitimo Caves. Yes, the motor inn is a little dated but we knew that when we booked and I think it was real value for money considering it was peak season. A nice little touch were the ear plugs in the room as the motel is next to the highway but we didn’t find the noise a problem at all as the highway isn’t very busy and the windows were triple glazed which I’m sure must have blocked out a decent bit of the noise. So I certainly wouldn’t add a negative comment about the noise and I feel it’s a bit unfair for others to do so when they know what they are getting when they book. Overall, a great stay and thanks to Ivan and the rest of the staff.

The is a really nice place to stay. The staff are lovely, we didn’t have a car and it was a long walk to get to the caves we had booked, so one of the staff members drove us there. They were great to chat to and always smiley and understanding. It is clean and peaceful place to stay and was very warm when we wanted it to be. The only down side was because we didn’t have a car the cleaner didn’t realise people where still in the property and walked in whilst we were in there.

Friendliness of the staff on arrival. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and very clean! We were provided earplugs in the room, but it was very quiet, and we did not need them. The room also had a nice balcony with several chairs and a table. The outlook was nice. We dined at the restaurant, and the food was reasonably priced and of good quality - everyone enjoyed their meals.

Air conditioning would be a suggested improvement, but in saying that, the fan that was provided in the room was sufficient.

Staff were absolutely amazing. Check-in was easy, no fuss. The room was nice and cozy. Staff had turned on the electric blankets and the heater before arrival, so we were lovely and warm. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Caves Motor Inn. We loved our stay.

The only thing was having to wash our dishes in the bathroom sink, but other than that, everything else was spot on.

Room had everything we needed, the shower was very good. Fridge door very difficult to open. Bed was quite comfy and there were lots of pillows. The view from our studio was lovely.

Noisy trucks and trains all night, understandable being on a main road which I didn't factor in when booking. Nice gesture to leave earplugs which we used and this helped reduce the night noise.

Staff were great, they were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. And the kai was good aswell. So good to have an onsite restaurant

It’s not a what didn’t you like because i wouldn’t have stayed there if i didn’t like it so it’s more a ‘would like to see’ new carpet to give the rooms a fresher feel and i think the damp old musty smell will go. It’s not a strong smell but it is there.

The room was big, very spacious and comfortable for three people - had shampoo and body wash. There were a few spiders but the room itself very clean. Lots of parking space, but you do need a car to get there. Restaurant is closed on weekends. Also enough chairs for everyone and a well equipped small kitchen. It's next to the main road but it's still quiet.

Check out is at 10 which is usually a bit early.

We got in very late and Annie had made contact with us at 8pm to advise us how to access the room when we got there. So appreciated that as it took the pressure off us to rush (speed) to get there by a certain time. And we got there the light was on and the room was lovely and warm from the heater being on low as well as our electric blanket. Just so considerate. Thank you. Loved the littke kitchenette area that had a microwave.. Kettle.. Toaster and fridge.

I wanted to do our breakfast dishes but there was no kitchen sink or even a basin to fill water so we cud do this even though a dish cloth and dishwaahing detergent were provided. Loved how ear plugs are provided on the bedside table and soon realised it is due to the train line and main highway we are next to. I thought it was to block out my husbands snoring and thought how very thoughtful that was. Still a nuce touch.

The staff were amazing, especially Destiny. she went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay! the food at the restaurant was amazing, the lamb shanks, delicious! the room was exceptionally clean, more than some high end hotels we've stayed at. we had a fantastic stay, thanks!

Just the pillows but that's personal preference

The room although basic was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and although we didn't eat we sat in the bar and others seemed to be enjoying the food.

To order breakfast you ordered the night before and then had to heat it up in the morning. But as we didn't order it I can't say if it was good.
