I absolutely loved this place! It was ideal for my disability needs and accommodated both my son and our assistance dog wonderfully. Although it wasn’t the best time of year to visit, having the beach just across the road made our stay so convenient and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone traveling in the area.

While mosquitoes were an issue at night—particularly when filleting fish or spending time at the back of the property—the enchanting, wild garden during the day more than made up for it. We did bump our toes and knees on the bed frame a few times, so it’s worth noting for future guests. Overall, the hosts were incredibly helpful and addressed any concerns we had, making it a pleasant stay despite these minor drawbacks.

Janet and Peter are great hosts! They were interested and had a lot of travel suggestions. Great people, lovely to talk to. They were wonderful with our two kids, even let them play with their grandchildren’s toys. They had a cot for our little one and there wasn’t a moment where we got the feeling that our kids were annoying. The breakfast was fantastic. You could eat it while watching the sea which really is in front of the house. We were allowed to use the washing machine and there was a fridge for our personal food. We really enjoyed our time there.

Everything exceeded our expectations and the breakfast provided was exceptional! The hosts were welcoming and helpful with anything asked, they could not have been more accommodating. The Pohutukawa Coast B & B is also in a great location with the beach just over the road and handy to many scenic attractions.

They only thing that was difficult for us was our bed was quite firm and we normally have a soft bed at home. Its such a personal thing and everyone is different in their choice of bed type. This was the only thing we could fault but like I said, that is our personal preference.

We spent one night here on our way from Coromandel east coast to Auckland. Great welcoming by Jaynet who server tea and home made cake. We could use a lovely lounge and veranda with sea view. In the evening after a lovely dinner at a nearby hotel, we sat and had a long talk with Peter and Jaynet and another couple staying there. So nice and homely, we even got offered a glass of wine. Breakfast was super nice. Highly recommended.

Beach was mostly stones and shells.

Lovely b and b on the coast comfy clean room with good size en-suite. Off road parking. Nice and quite.Great breakfast. Lovely hosts very helpful .Great to have use of a fridge to chill the wine. Great base to explore coromandal peninsula and Thames frontier town. Lots to see and do in Thames. Museum, bowls gold mine museum. Lots of cafes and eating out. Frontier look of the town but has all the shops needed.

For us the standout reasons why this is a special place to stay are the location opposite the beach, complete with sunset and the generosity of the hosts with fabulous breakfasts, local advice and willingness to sit and chat.The home is art filled and reflects the creativity of the hosts.

While not an issue for this stay, the north facing room would be exceptionally hot in the height of summer

It was lovely to be welcomed and shown around. We were also given help to manage to park the boat. Lovely clean facilities with views from the shared upstairs deck and a nice setting to eat our yummy Turkish takeaways from Thames.very accomadating friendly hosts.

It was very hot this summer so we had all windows open and felt safe, also glad we used our insect repellant, which worked fine.

Breakfast is rich and freshly, making a good start in the day. Our room had a private bath over the flor. The hosts are very friendly and communicative, very well informed about international affairs and recent history. Nice talks on the terace.

Some mosquito protection would be nice for those sleeping with fresh air.

The breakfast served was lovely with fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, scrambled eggs with ham, avocado, and cheese. Also lovely fresh bread, croissants and fruit. Breakfast was eaten on the veranda with a beautiful sea view. A lovely start to the day

Superb location, outstanding breakfast. The entire well-heated studio with a private bathroom and TV. Huge refrigerator, tea, coffee, and milk in the room. But more importantly, a very nice couple of owners. We had a nice and interesting chat during breakfast.
