For a hostel, the toilet and bathroom area was very good and clean. The other guests were also keeping it clean. Same goes for the kitchen area.

Check-in was confusing, they sent something online in the same morning, but I didn't had internet and it was in another city in Norway before, so quite confusing to understand. Staff was very cold and didn't help much neither. I arrive there and they told me to read the e-mail ( ok, they gave me the wi-fi password and let me read the instructions... by come on, if there was a staff member there, I expected something more warm when arriving).

City Hostel Bergen was perfectly located in the heart of the city and nearby every major attraction but far enough away that it wasn’t noisy or overcrowded in the area. The hostel is clean, spacious, warm and inviting with comfortable beds and lockers for your belongings. The bathrooms and showers were excellent and I rarely had to wait to use them. Overall, there was nothing other than positive things to say about the hostel at all.

Nothing. I had a fantastic stay at City Hostel Bergen and I would highly recommend staying here when travelling through Bergen. I did see some negative reviews about price, but… it’s Norway! :)

Clean and tidy. Felt very safe as a solo female. Great location.

The location is very near to train station, just a few walk away. The room i stay in is for four female person, inside has own locker and hair dryer, and i love the view. The bathroom is mix, but i dont mind, it has enough space, it was clean, and also has hair dryer. The toilet is also enough, and it is clean. The kitchen is fantastic, it has 2 fridge, has 2 oven and a microwave oven, a kettle, and other utensils. And they have free pepper and salt. If your looking for some oil, buy on your own, its not expensive anyway :) there is also enough space to sit/eat. The check in process is so easy, and to check out as well. There are near restaurants and groceries as well.

The hostel was perfect for a short stay. The kitchen was well equipped, although slightly small so it was difficult for more than 2 or 3 people to cook at once. There were plenty of tables and chairs to eat at. The beds were comfy, although there were no shelves with the beds so no where to keep things close at hand. there was a locker for each bed although they were narrow so my hand-luggage sized case didn't fit inside. There were a couple of sofas in a small common area which were very comfy, but only 2 so only space for 4 people to sit. The location was perfect - 10 minute walk to the main city centre/harbour area, less than 5 minutes to the main bus station and the light rail stop, and a budget supermarket just around the corner.

The lockers in the room were very narrow so my hand luggage-sized case didn't fit inside, and there weren't any shelves next to the beds so no where to keep things close at hand. The kitchen was well equipped but quite small so became crowded very easily.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at City Hostel Bergen, and I can confidently say it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had. The hostel itself is impeccably clean. Every corner, from the communal areas to the bathrooms and dormitories, is maintained to a high standard, making it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, allowing me to unwind and fully enjoy my time here. One of the greatest advantages of City Hostel Bergen is its prime location right in the heart of the city. It’s perfectly situated, with easy access to all the main attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. This made exploring Bergen a breeze and added so much convenience to my trip. Initially, I had planned to stay for just four days, but I was so impressed and happy with everything that I extended my stay to a full seven days. The decision was easy—this place feels like a second home. The combination of the amazing staff, clean facilities, and perfect location made it impossible to leave so soon. I will undoubtedly be returning to City Hostel Bergen on my next visit to this beautiful city. If you’re looking for a place that offers exceptional service, cleanliness, and a true sense of home away from home, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Everything was perfect!!! Can’t wait to come back again!

Considering Norvegian prices, this was a really good value for a self-catering stay so close to the centre (train station, pier, Bryggen all within short walking distance). The beds were so-so, but for a hostel, it was clean, and had enough facilities (mind you, when I was there it wasn’t at full capacity).

Signs everywhere “No alcohol permitted in rooms and common areas” … this is kind of unheard of and isn’t reasonable to ask adults to spend 6 times the price on a beer at a pub. On top of that, this isn’t stated anywhere (in their policies, etc), so a bit of a shock to show up and see the signs.

The hostel was good value and ideally located, 5 min from the train station & 10 min walk to Bryggen. Staff were super helpful & responsive, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was great. I liked that there was a mix of facilities( just toilets, toilet/ shower etc…) although the hostel was quite busy there was never any problem finding an empty bathroom

We had spectacular weather while we were there, the room can get a bit stuffy with the windows closed however opening the windows meant that it could be quite noisy from the street below until quite late at night,,, just bring earplugs if that sort of thing bothers you

It was clean comfortable good location . the receptionist was very helpful as I had no mobile battery charge to check my codes ...and also when I locked myself out of the room. The help was immediate over the phone. We didn't see much of the staff there which was a good thing .

That there were no separate bathrooms and toilets for men and women .

In a perfect location just minutes from the railway station and the harbour and only 15 minutes walk to the Hurtigruten terminal. My room was as good as any budget hotel room I have had, with a comfortable bed, a decent sized shower room, a hob for cooking an easy meal, a fridge and most importantly a kettle. There was a good mix of people staying here, and as a mature traveller, I certainly didn't feel out of place. Free luggage storage was available too, and without a doubt if I stay in Bergen again, I would choose this place.
