This is one of the cleanest hostels I have ever been to, with staff popping in to make sure the kitchens and bathrooms were clean and tidy. The kitchen is super well equipped, with some nice touches, such as providing salt and pepper, and French presses for coffee. My private room (I got a surprise upgrade from a dorm!) was clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms and showers had everything you needed (FYI they are not gender-segregated, which was not an issue for me.) They email you a code to get into the facility a day or so ahead of time, so make sure to check that before getting there. I'm not sure the desk is staffed after around 10pm, so if you are getting in after then, you better have your code.

It was overall a great experience. If I have to think of some negatives: It was not a super social hostel. They had local brochures, but didn't seem to offer any hostel-sponsored activities, such as walking tours or game nights like some hostels do. The kitchen area was the main place to interact with other guests, in addition to a few smaller library nooks. The sink drains were also a little slow.

Bit claustrophobic as is all one corridor and room was quite small. You get some noise from other rooms/outside but was okay for us. Kitchen was small if you want to cook a lot. We were told to expect a text ahead of time to get room codes. However you only get it once you go to reception. The entrance is not on the main road but on a side street, it's easy to miss. Toilets and showers are mixed gender for the most part However the price makes up for this, not expecting hotel quality at hostel prices

The location was absolutely perfect — everything in Bergen was within walking distance. From my window, I had the most charming view of stacked houses that looked straight out of a Lego dreamland. The kitchen was well-equipped, the common areas were cozy, and the overall vibe was convenient and comfortable. A great place to stay if you want charm and practicality in one!

The showers and toilets should be cleaned more often, and a small wall rack in showers would allow to keep my toiletries somewhere. Beds aren't good... very squeaky I can't even turn without disturbing everyone. I have never seen such a squeaky hostel bed. Please look into it.

City Hostel Bergen was perfectly located in the heart of the city and nearby every major attraction but far enough away that it wasn’t noisy or overcrowded in the area. The hostel is clean, spacious, warm and inviting with comfortable beds and lockers for your belongings. The bathrooms and showers were excellent and I rarely had to wait to use them. Overall, there was nothing other than positive things to say about the hostel at all.

Nothing. I had a fantastic stay at City Hostel Bergen and I would highly recommend staying here when travelling through Bergen. I did see some negative reviews about price, but… it’s Norway! :)

For a hostel, the toilet and bathroom area was very good and clean. The other guests were also keeping it clean. Same goes for the kitchen area.

Check-in was confusing, they sent something online in the same morning, but I didn't had internet and it was in another city in Norway before, so quite confusing to understand. Staff was very cold and didn't help much neither. I arrive there and they told me to read the e-mail ( ok, they gave me the wi-fi password and let me read the instructions... by come on, if there was a staff member there, I expected something more warm when arriving).

Very convenient for city walks. You can go any famous venue on foot in 15 minutes. Beautiful views from the windows in hostel. Luggage room is available for free. There are always staff willing to help. I met some group visitors checking-in in the afternoon of my check-out day (it was the peak season yeah); The only elevator was busy and the elevator space was crowded. And I didn't find the stairs when I was in the lobby on the 1st floor. So if you want to fetch your luggage and catch the public transport for the departure of next travel, it is considerable to give it more time in case you encounter that situation.

I liked the location and general feel of the place. Super clean it is not a party hostel. Like the coded doors so you did not need keys. When there was confusion if I needed to pay (I had prepaid) that was quickly sorted out.

The luggage storage room needs attention. The door had been left open when I went to put my bag in so anyone could get access without the door code. When I went to collect my bag a few hours later a resident had locked himself in there.

All in all a really great hostel, with plenty of corners to sit and most importantly enough bathrooms for the many people the place can fit. Staff was very kind, in fact they helped me out twice! Also well organized and cleaned regularly

The only thing that bothered me was the lack of curtains in the 10 people dorm. Since people were coming and going throughout the night (e.g. for flights) it would have made a difference to have a form of visual seperation. Now however, I slept pretty bad because I got woken up multiple times every night

Clean and tidy. Felt very safe as a solo female. Great location.

Professional, friendly staff. Ideal location in close proximity to the train and bus stations and for sightseeing. Appreciated that my email request prior to my arrival for a lower bunk was immediately granted and so too being allowed to check-in around lunch-time when my room was immediately available. That was great as it enabled me to enjoy walking around Bergen for the next seven hours. Thank you so much this was very kind of you. Comfortable bed and clean facilities, good fellow travellers.
