The hotel is a beautiful and grand stay. The service in the hotel, from reception to the dining areas, was wonderful. All the staff were professional and couldn't do enough to ensure your stay was a good one. We had a wonderful breakfast each morning and thoroughly enjoyed cocktails in the lounge each afternoon or evening. They had a washer/dryer available for guests to do self service laundry (and offered a laundry service) which is very helpful for long holidays!

We had a suite in the new wing and on a sunny day the room was uncomfortably warm since there are no windows to open to allow the cool, fresh air in. The hotel was very accommodating though and placed us in another room when that occurred. The hotel is across from the train station, hence the name, and some of the rooms could hear the street noise.

Great room in a beautiful building. Great location to walk into the town center.

When arriving by car, you had to park the car at the train station car park which was not very far in foot but rather complicated to get to by car. The staff at reception were not very forthcoming with information about how best to get there. This info should be mentioned on the booking.com website before having people there is an actual car park at the hotel. Also in the bar was very unfriendly… the place was empty and they were not busy at all, yet they would not bring us the menu and only reluctantly asked us what we wanted to order but immediately asked for payment. This is not what I would expect from a whisky lounge/bar type setting… it felt more like a pub setting.

The location next to the railway station and taxis was excellent and the ferries, restaurants etc were a short walk. The breakfast was brilliant -everything we could ever want. We adored the restaurant - we ate there (service and food were lovely), hung out there for drinks before going out and just spent time in awe of its history, as shown by the poignant photos on the wall. There was a wonderful book in the room that showed the hotel's history and the story of its famous guests - Amundsen and colleagues, who ultimately impacted the hotel's identity. We loved our big room, which had a balcony and a bath. A highlight of our trip around Europe.

The Terminus really is a grand hotel. As soon as you walk in you sense the dignity and history of the hotel. The oak and mahogany woodwork goes well with the large and comfortable dining and meeting rooms. Original artwork seems right at home. I was impressed with the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, especially at the front desk. The breakfast was delicious. But best of all, I got a great night's sleep. The bed was comfortable, the room was stylish and well appointed, and the hotel was very quiet. I wish I could stay in hotels like this more often.

The location was super-right across the road to the railway station. We were getting the Bergen Train to Oslo the following morning. Also the hotel was full of character and charm. However, following 2 weeks of hectic touring and a very early morning flight from Tromsø, I mislaid my man-bag containing my passport, driving licence, credit-cards, cash, medicines, passwords and codes……in fact EVERYTHING!!! Luckily for me, a very honest gentleman found my bag and handed it back to reception with everything safe, untouched. May I say to this gentleman “THANK YOU SO MUCH “ You are a credit to your parents, teachers, family, yourself and your country for having such honesty. I never got his name as we left early next morning but I can only pray and thank God that we still have honest people. You are a star ⭐️ I will never forget you.

Should have stayed longer

It’s a beautifulis only slightly removed from the hotel well-maintained historic hotel that is steps from the train station. We were given a nice room in the villa next door which is only slightly removed from the main building. The breakfast was exceptional, and we’ve had a lot of breakfasts on this trip. There was complimentary coffee and tea at the Villa.

Our room was facing the street, lots of foot traffic and noise, at least during the day. Neither our refrigerator nor the tv worked. To be fair, they did offer us to change rooms due to the fridge snd the tv problems.

I really like this hotel and room so much. The staff are courteous. They upgraded my room to a better one which is huge and newly renovated and very modern. The room is super comfortable and nice. The breakfast is superb with lots of selections. The location is in a quiet part of Bergen just opposite of the main train station.

Nothing major, just the old window insulation is quite bad in the room I stayed in (302). I was quite cold in the early mornings even with max heat turned on. The whole room was newly renovated and modern except the windows are old and poor insulation.

The amazing friendly welcome after a long train journey! Kaja and Tiril made us feel like old friends and couldn't have been more helpful. This historical hotel has rich dark oak beams, wall panelling and large open fireplaxes and huge beautiful stained glass windows. There are lots of interesting rooms and spaces to enjoy with interesting artwork throughout the hotel . You could almost imagine the explorer Roald Amundsen giving his last press conference in the lounge! Breakfast was excellent quality, buffet style and plenty of choice. We really loved ofur stay here and were sad it was only for one night! We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. The Grand Hotel Terminus is a short taxi ride from the Norwegian coastal ferry terminal. We found it to be an easy 30 minute walk with wheeled luggage. Can't wait to stay again when we get the chance! Also, should you be interested in learning more about the history of the hotel, Kaja was very happy to show us around and took the time to share some fascinating information about the hotel. The housekeeping, restaurant staff were also excellent. Thank you all so much.

There was nothing to dislike.

Is less than 3 mins fr Bergen central station. Breakfast was great, vegetarian no issue.

Our rm 732 widows were unable to open, given the orientation of the rm and without aircon in the month of April, the Sun shines directly into our rm made in very warm and stuffy. Sunset was at 8pm and it took almost 3 hrs before you feel better. It will be great if aircon was turned on in the month of April. Fortunately, 2 days out of 6 nights we felt the heat in the rm, the rest due to rain that helps to lower the temp.

We were upgraded to the Admunsen room. Its historic charm was not lost on us. The room is huge, comfortable with many windows on two sides. The views were the train station - you could actually see a couple of the tracks - and a nice side street. The side entrance to the station was just in front of the hotel making it extremely easy to reach, and helpful in the constant rain of Bergen. The hotel bar is beautiful and dinner there was very good even with a limited menu. This was completely understandable as it's a bar, not a restaurant. We were tired and didn't want to go out in the rain again. A tram stop on the other side of the station was very convenient. We took the tram to the Stave church. We took a train from the station for a morning trip to the Dale of Norway factory museum and outlet. Though not in the town center, a fifteen minute walk on a lovely street takes you there.. The hotel was also fairly convenient to the Christmas Market. From Bergen we took the Havila ship to Kirkenes. An easy taxi ride took us to the ship terminal. During my stay I saw where other hotels in Bergen were located, but I would choose to stay here again.
