I believe I couldn’t have chosen a better hotel for my stay in Bergen. The location was 10/10 and every place we wanted to go was within a maximum of 8’ walking distance. The staff was always helpful and polite. The hotel and room were exceptionally clean. The breakfast was worth it as there was a vast selection of products and fresh. We once had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and it was a literal experience. From the politeness of the waiter to the high-level dishes. The bartender also made us cocktails that were the best we have ever tried. It was also beautiful that there was a live pianist for the breakfast on the weekend. Two things that weren’t practical was the fact that the restaurant kitchen is closed on Sundays and the fact that there is no telephone in the room. I believe that is important in case there is an emergency at some point and since there is a 24-hour reception. Lastly, one night we wanted to have again another cocktail by the bar but the bartender had left even though the bar was supposed to be open. We just ordered a couple of soft drinks and I really appreciated that they weren’t charged. This demonstrated a level of professionalism!

Lovely, stylish hotel in old bank building. Very central, convenient location, walking distance to train station and to most attractions. Kiwi supermarket very close by to pick up fruit and snacks, and tram stop to airport only a 3/4 minute walk away (a 45 minute, direct tram journey to Bergen airport for only £3.50!). All staff were very friendly and helpful, (our luggage had been transferred from Oslo and had already been put in our room for our arrival) Excellent breakfast with buffet and a la carte choices. Very good value for money, we would definitely stay here again.

There was access from the street to a staircase up to the first floor of the hotel - we used this entrance to get to our room. There was no security at this entrance even though there was an big wrought iron gate at the foot of the staircase, which always seemed to be open.. We did have slight concerns that anyone could have entered the hotel by this route and accessed the bedrooms.

The staff were fantastic, super kind and considerate which felt they would go above and beyond to make our stay great. Good recommendations of what to do over the course of our stay with the concierge booking everything for us. Good breakfast and coffee though more vegan options would be nice. Live music playing in the lobby with the great Christmas decorations still up. Nice history info everywhere of how it connected to the great classical composer.

There were no vegan options on their dinner menu though it felt they they would create something up for you but still its 2025 veganism isn't new nor hard to cater for.

The hotel staff are absolutely fantastic at Opus 16 as well as the beautiful building, first class breakfast, and excellent facilities. There was a slight delay in our room being ready to check into when we arrived, which we didn't mind waiting for. However, we did mention to the staff that we were on our 10-year wedding anniversary. 5 minutes later, Andrea, the office manager, met us and upgraded us to an executive suite for free, which was absolutely fantastic. As well as receiving a gift to celebrate our anniversary, a personalised touch that was extremely thoughtful. We had a fabulous time in Bergen, which in no doubt the hotel was a huge part of. Highly recommend Opus 16 to anyone.

It was a little noisy at night occasionally, but that really is to be expected when the location is right in the heart of the city centre.

The location was perfect from the Bergen Light rail, just a block which made the transfer from the airport so easy. And also just an easy 8 min walk from the Bergen Central Train Station. The hotel was beautiful and so clean and comfortable. The staff was so welcoming and kind. We did opt for the breakfast included and that did not disappoint. You have your choice of buffet or they would make a hot breakfast for you-either is included if you include breakfast in your stay. And we were excited to get up every morning to head there before heading out. There is a grocery store across the street if you need anything additional. They supplied us with a large umbrella which was perfect if you are familiar with Bergen weather/rain. The beds were comfortable. You are steps from Bryggen and the Fish market. But far enough away that it is not loud at all. We almost opted for a different hotel that was in Bryggen on the main area on the water, and we were very glad to be tucked back instead of that louder area. The funicular was walkable and there were dozens of restaurants in easy walking distance. After hiking and playing hard all day the hotel was a welcome sight to sink into. It might have been a little more expensive but I do not regret it at all.

Truly it was great. No complaints at all.

The hotel is very centrally located. It's very historic and lovely building. Our room was very comfortable and clean and nicely appointed. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. They gym is nice!

The breakfast was nice with lots of choices but they didn't keep the eggs warm and replaced regularly so that wasn't too appealing. In general I think the hotel lobby could use some better lighting. It can look a bit gloomy especially since Bergen rains a lot. But some proper brighter lighting design could show off its historic beauty and make it more inviting.

Lovely hotel in an absolute perfect location. Very clean, comfortable and great breakfast

I feel a little harsh as the hotel and staff were great except for a really ‘difficult’ lady that served us for breakfast on one of the three mornings of our stay (the first two morning we were served by a different lady who was perfect in her service. Again a little harsh but we got to the hotel at 23.02 on the first evening and was refused a drink as the bar was closing. In summary these were the only two things that stopped be giving the hotel full marks.

Very nice hotel, although VERY overprised at the time. The location is fantastic. We stayed here because we loved it last time we were here. Some very hard working, nice & serviceminded staff, especially in the bar.

Very hot rooms. Should really have air-conditioning installed! Borrowed a fan, but did not help much. Not very happy with breakfast. We waited 1 hour for our omelette & English breakfast. After asking for it twice, it finally arrived after 1 hour, but was not what we ordered. We ended up walking out without eating it & we were not the only one. The table next to us was more or less shouting at the poor waitress.

This was our second stay here. The first was 5 years ago. It was just as good as we remembered from last time. On arrival we were offered a delicious local apple (cider?) drink. Very welcome after a long day’s travel! Our corner room at the rear of the hotel had plenty of light and views to the lovely streets below. The bathroom was clean, spacious and well-designed. Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. Breakfast here is a treat. As well as a well-stocked buffet there is table service. Wait Staff were attentive and helpful. Plenty of space, comfort and style in this beautiful and historic restaurant. The Hotel is very well-located, yet quiet. Close to the historic Bryggen area, Bergen Harbour and the Fløibanen. Highly recommend!!

There is nothing to dislike!
