Architecture - quiet & close to a park. Lovely artefact / antique collection. Excellent breakfast.

No lift & spiral staircase. Difficult to manoeuvre luggage. From main train station quite a steep up hill walk which could be a challenge for some. Good location if you are fit and mobile. About 10-15mins walk to Bryggren.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, which feels more like a fairytale home than a chain hotel. Set on a hillside across three floors, it offers breathtaking views over the valley and Mount Ulriken – truly stunning. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always welcoming and ready to assist. One especially thoughtful touch was the complimentary tea and homemade brownies available throughout the day – a lovely detail that really made a difference. Our room was spacious, bright, and offered an unobstructed view – perfect for relaxing. The hotel is centrally located, and the free street parking right next to the entrance was very convenient.

A few things to keep in mind: the bed was a bit dated, with a rather soft mattress, which might not suit everyone. Also, the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, and there are no ground floor rooms, so access can be a challenge for guests with reduced mobility – particularly if you’re staying on the third floor, as we did.

The location is not in the middle of the busy city but in a quiet neighborhood about a 10 minute walk from the waterfront and close to a park. We loved it but, others may want to be closer to the waterfront. Our room was a good size and had some nice extras: a comfy chair and light for reading, a desk, small table with coffee and tea makings, and a small fridge which we used and were happy to have. The breakfast was excellent with many choices and an attentive staff keeping things full and tidy. The hotel does not have an elevator but, we asked for a room in a low floor which was honored.

Nothng we were very happy with our choice.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It is near the University and about 10minutes walk into the central galleries and marina. It is around 15minutes to another marina in the other direction. It is set in amongst streets of painted stone houses and University buildings. We had two rooms in the building across the road. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. It was a 30second walk across the road for breakfast. The breakfast was very nice and very sweetly set out. The rest of the day you can help yourself to coffee and brownies in the breakfast room. There is a fridge in the room and there's a supermarket about 2 minutes away. We really felt at home in this hotel and would definitely stay here again if we come back to Bergen.

Our upgraded room (upgrade offered free of charge) was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is very good in the sense that it is away from the tourists and close to nice local restaurants, although the last couple of blocks walking from the train station have a fairly steep uphill climb, which we treated as an opportunity to do some physical exercise, but some guest may have trouble dragging their luggage uphill. The breakfast offered a balanced meal with lots of choices for meats and fishes, vegetables, fruits and grains. The staff was courteous and always willing to help. A particularly helpful amenity for the room was the washing machine with drying function. We had a great experience.

The internet broken the morning after we arrived, and it took a few hours to get it back.

It’s good value for it’s location. It’s only a short walk to the center city, but it is uphill and could be an issue for older travelers. We walked to and from the train station with carry on luggage, and it was a little bit challenging going up. Breakfast was very good, the staff worked really hard every morning to keep everything replenished. The room was perfect size. There was plenty of room for 2 people to unpack and move around with ease. The staff left out clean towels in the hallway, so you could take an extra if you needed one. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Overall, it was a good experience. I would stay again if I return.

We had some issues with the lock on the door. We had to have staff help us a couple of times. We ended up getting new keys. We also had an issue with the bathroom door. When it closed, it locked. That happened twice and we managed to “fix” it both times. We did inform the staff when we left, so I’m sure it will be fixed for the next guest.

The staff were really welcoming, it was easy to find, a short walk from the central bus station. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The room was very clean and tidy. The blinds were black out, which is needed at this time of the year. You can leave your luggage if you check out and want to explore Bergen more before leaving later. They provide you with a list of recommendations which is really helpful and thoughtful. Breakfast was good, my partner had the eggs etc. and I had yogurt with their home made granola. I would recommend and I would stay again.

Very minor but there were no English breakfast tea bags left at breakfast. There were no little milk for tea/coffee in the room.

Everything was great. I had an amazing view of the city from my window. The room and the bed were comfortable, with enough space for the guest. The building itself is stylish, though inside you can see its age, which makes the place special. Also the location is very tourist friendly, within a walking distance of city attractions, the station, and near the park. The staff were really helpful and hospitable, breakfast was tasty ( especially home made granola and bread, and you have a variety of foods to choose from). All day you can grab a tea or a coffee and enjoy freshly baked brownie. The place is really worth recommending.

The only thing you need to keep in mind is the fact that there is no lift, so you need to walk and carry your luggage, but for me that was not a problem at all

A really lovely hotel in a great location, this is a charming place to stay. The breakfast was excellent and the brownies a real treat. Our room was spacious and very comfortable and well equipped. An added bonus is that the hotel backs onto a lovely park, perfect for an after dinner or early morning stroll.

Our original request for a twin room hadn't reached the hotel but reception was really helpful and managed to find a vacant twin room. I think the issue was with Booking.com's system rather than the hotel and would advise others to contact the hotel in advance to make sure that any specific requests have been received.

Great experience overall. You can feel the quality of materials used, although it is a bit older everything still looks great. It is clean and has its unique atmosphere of an old quirky hotel. The heating is working great, which is often a problem in Norway. View from the upstairs rooms is amazing. Downstairs in the breakfast area, you can get yourself a cup of tea and a snack all day free of charge. The breakfast itself was delicious with a nice variety of products. I had a little issue with a lost item, but the communication with the front desk and all the staff was amazing, and they did what they could do to resolve it. I would only suggest that you clearly state whether you want cleaning in your room or not.

Just to let you know, it is on the hill, and there is no elevator, so overall, it is a bit of a workout to get to your room but I would definitely say it was worth it and will come back in the future.
