Nice, beautiful, and comfortable hotel.

- The staff were not too welcoming. - The music was annoying. You could hear repetitive, ritzy music at reception, while waiting, during breakfast and even in the spa. This kind of music is made for shopping centers and is not appropriate in a hotel and especially in the spa where you need to relax. I even asked the receptionist if it was possible to stop or turn down the music in the spa. She didn't even speak! she just touched the button and I don't even know if she really turned it down! as we could still hear it loudly enough in the spa.

The hotel is located at a very central place in Oslo, close to a major train station and not far from the major attractions down town. The rooms are not large, but the beds were nice (firmer matrasses). Our kids slept in an adjacent / connected room with their own bathroom and toilet. A big plus is that they had their own (double) bed, and that they did not have to sleep on a sofabed.

We didnt use the breakfast buffet, but it sounded rather pricey. This is common and not specific to the hotel itself. With shops like 'Backstube' around the corner, there are cheaper alternatives available.

The room is small but cosy, really nice beds and nice amenities in the bathroom! Love the location, on a silent street, close to Solli plass, Nationalteatret, Tjuvholmen and busses. Good breakfast!

The noise from the kitchen in the morning, I could not even hear the relaxing music in the dining room since the staff had the radio on high volume and slamming the plates and dishes. The room is perfect for one person, would be to tight for two.

The location was great: restaurants and the waterfront were within easy walking distance; easy access from the National Theatre train station; quiet, clean neighborhood. The decor in the rooms was delightful. The staff was SO pleasant, patient, friendly and helpful. (Can't say enough about the staff.) Complimentary coffee and water available in the "dining" area. I personally did not eat breakfast at the Guldsmeden but those in my party who did had positive comments.

The rooms themselves were a little small/tight requiring some mindfulness in setting up luggage for use. The Guldsmeden is NOT air-conditioned. It had good natural ventilation the days we were there, but the following week had the highest temps of the summer and I was thankful we were staying elsewhere.

Good location, close to city centre, good public transport around. Comfortable rooms, well equipped. Family room with two separate room and two badrooms, Good breakfast, with some oriental flavour. Very supporting staff. Nice arts on walls :)

Family apartment has 2x double bed, while 1x doube and 2x single would be more practical. Rooms a bit small and bed baldachim construction limits the space even more (but provide interesting climate...). Noticeable noise from the street during rush morning hours.

The room was small but was cozy snd had everything i needed; a good (!) bed, a desk and a place to put my suitcase. Excellent bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body oil, toothbrush..a lot!!). I addition, there was a free reusable water bottle - i really like that since tap water is of Excellent quality in Oslo and i could take the bottle with me.

The bathroom was TINY. You can’t really sit on the toilet without bumping into the (microscopic) sink. The shower zone was ok , though, and the shower worked well. Breakfast could have been included for all.

I was traveling for work and it felt like home. Cozy, super warm room (on March), clean and smelled amazing. I did not expect this for such a friendly price. The staff were kind, always on location. The breakfast area was very cozy, also nice food with varieties for a vegan (to add: there are many amazing options in the city!). I do recommend to stay in this neighbourhood since it is safe, calm and quiet and everything is reachable by foot. The bus stop is just next to the hotel and metro is 5 minute walk to National Theatre station, which is far more nicer than Oslo Central area which is busy and loud.

The hotel lacks the office like cold atmosphere of most hotels with similar prices, so if you are into that, then this cozy place is not for you :) Everything was perfect!

Pretty lovely room, charming and comfortable, with a desk, armchair, TV and a radio (fisrt time I see it in a hotel - I discovered some of the Norwegian stations and tunes) ! Warmly decorated and well fitted. Very cosy. Body creams and lotions disposed. The hosts are warm and friendly welcoming the visitors. Provide infos and advices about visiting Oslo. The private SPA space is wonderful! Also warmly decorated and well fitted with sauna and hammam, resting beds. I highly recommend this hotel which made my trip even more memorable. Cherry on top : very high quality/price rate. I loved it! Simply! Thanks to them.

Check in was easy, staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Very cool lobby and love that there were beer taps at the front desk :)

The fee for the sauna/steam was a bit high. As was having to pay for a cappuccino at breakfast. I also own restaurants/bars so understand costs are incredibly, especially so in Oslo I imagine. But it did feel a bit excessive where I would essentially pay my room rate again to use the sauna/steam and have breakfast/coffee. But it was still a very nice experience. Parking not ideal, especially in bad weather, but I also understand this is downtown Oslo. Not bothered by it.

Well located from Nationaltheateret station, but visitors should know to walk towards Ibsen gate when leaving the train as that exit is much closer to the hotel. Good family room with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and the street started being noisy only around 7:00 a.m. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and well appointed, with extremely soft towels. Great value overall.

Unfortunately there was a group of travellers who checked in very late at night and were not asked by reception to keep it quiet, resulting in about 20 minutes of loud noises, shouting and slamming of doors. This event disrupted sleep and marred an otherwise very good stay.
