The hotel has 18 rooms, all facing the same side of the building, opposite the street, thus there is no noise from outside. The rooms are quite big (we had a double room), the breakfast is fair (rather limited choices, but you can find eggs, cheese, vegetables, fruits, cake, yogurt), there is a small swimming pool with few sunbeds. There is kettle with tea and coffee in the room.

Breakfast coffee is not great. The air-conditioning was sometimes difficult to turn on (the on-off button had to be pressed very long time before turning on).

Extremely clean hotel. The location was quite good, 15 min walk to city centre. Breakfast good enough, nothing special, but was OK to start the morining. Temperature in the room always perfect. The private park they have is too small, one car is enough, and cost 5€ per day. But if your smart, you always find a park outside, and from 8 pm to 8 am it's free. So I was used to leave at 8am and come back at 8 pm. For activities in Madeira. Sometimes I staied longer and paid 1€/2€ to keep the car until 9/10 outside. Casinò is close but not a good place to go, but try it.

Everything was OK.

Hotel was great with rooms same as in photos shown, very clean. Staff was friendly and answered every question. I even had the option to reserve a parking spot at their garage for 5 EUR/day which was nice. Not that far from city center / old town. We walked by foot every evening, it was a relaxing walk by the side of the ocean. The breakfast was good, kind like continental style, but with a lot of fruits, which was great. So I would really recommend this hotel!

Nothing bad to say.

- Location was perfect within walking distance of all major attractions. - Staff were all really nice, friendly and accommodating. -the size of the room was very big! -good value for money when considering other similar hotels.

-the bed wasn't the most comfortable. -street parking is available but the hotel only has very limited parking spaces that you can rent -breakfast can be better for a 4 star hotel, the coffee we found was very bad.

Almost perfect, quiet little hotel. Only 3 floors, and just a handful of rooms, 3 garage places. Rooms are sizeable with seating area and balcony, bathroom is with shower and bidet. There is a small fridge and a safe in the closet. Air conditioning was working perfectly. Everything is of good quality and even of good design. There is even complementary gift waiting for the guests. Staff is nice and helpful, they speak solid English. Breakfast was great.

No specific cons at all, just some small things. Location is great but deep in the hotel area of Funchal, about 15 minutes walk from centre, 20-25 minutes walk of the cable car station or the local town centre. Restaurants and bars in the area are overpriced, touristy, lacking local specifics. Breakfast is great but hardly did change, so it became a little boring after 5-6 days. There are multiple oldschool USB (type A) chargers at the nightstands, but only 1 wall outlet in the room, so if you have multiple devices with other charger types (like type C) then you need to plan your charging.

We cannot fault Madeira Bright Star. The hotel had excellent facilities, just as described. The hotel was very very clean, the breakfast was delicious a s the staff were exceptional and the location was brilliant. 1 min walk from lots of local restaurants, bars, casino and a 10 -15 min walk to the centre of the city. We highly recommend the hotel and will certainly be coming back.

Great location, lovely spacious room with a big balcony and sea views. Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff. 24 hour reception. Very nice pool and garden as well. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Quality of coffee at breakfast could have been better.

Breakfast was good especially the fantastic coffee machine. Room was spacious with a balcony with a sea view. TV excellent and bathroom fantastic with a large walk in shower. Bed very comfortable. Staff friendly and happy to help. Hotel is small with just 18 rooms but it did mean there was never a queue at reception. Plenty of restaurants and bars close by. A very pleasant stay.

No kettle in the room but if you ask at reception you are given one. There is a room safe but you need to pay to use it. There is an uphill walk to get back to the hotel but it's not too bad.

We booked into this hotel very last minute for one night as our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the next day. The staff were very friendly on arrival, providing a quick and easy check-in after a stressful day. Rooms were comfortable and bathroom was clean and spacious. Nice shower. Breakfast was included so it was very good value for my friend and I.

Great location, great and comfy bed, amazing bathroom and shower, fantastic and helpful staff.

The breakfast was the weakest link. Scrambled eggs were crap. The charcuterie offer and the quality was crap. Black tea offer was limited to “English breakfast”. Bread was good, fried eggs were OK. Definitely not a four-star standard. A pity because otherwise this hotel is a real gem.
