Absolutely incredible place in nature! A true Eden. Excellent location, 10min to the city center, located in a peaceful area with no traffic and no noise. The rooms are great! Good decor and comfy. The pool and the spa are are excellent and there’s is an absolutely wonderful masseuse available at request (100% recommend!) The lounge areas both inside and outside are lovely and all staff is extremely kind and helpful. We’re going back!! Totally recommend!

This hotel is about 10 minutes away from Guimarães city center in a nice rural setting, perfect for charging the batteries. Then again, the North of Portugal is all about nature and taking the views, sights and smells in our own time. The facilities are well looked after and clean. The rooms are very spacious and carefully decorated. There are 2 pools we didn’t get a chance to use but they looked like a nice way to cool on hot summer days. Sadly didn’t make it to breakfast either.

1. Not sure it’s very accessible to people with limited mobility. We had to climb up a decent flight of stairs to get to our rooms, but there seemed to be many other rooms at ground level. Maybe something to keep in mind when booking. 2. The room had a wet leathery smell when we arrived on the first day and after being away the entire day. It cleared up after opening the windows. Not sure where it was coming from. Not pleasant. 3. Mattress was maybe a bit to hard for my liking. 4. Breakfast only served until 10?!?! Come on… some people look forward all year to be able to sleep in and not have to rely on an alarm to wake up. Make it 11… at least!

Enjoyed the variety of choice at breakfast. Hostess Maria very helpful and friendly. Nice gardens and layout of cabins. Nice location not to far from places to eat and shop up the hill into the village. Both young and older receptionists were brilliant, most helpful. In fact all the staff were very friendly. We had an early morning flight departure, but that did not mean we would go hungry, as we were treated to a very nice breakfast hamper delivered to our apartment door, late evening.

The only negative was the pool was small ( for adults at least). However the pool was prefect for the children.

Nice place to explore northern Portugal. Porto and the coastline (beach) and several sights and Duoro valley can be reached within one hours drive by car. The site is located near a small village (Torcato) and beautifully and nicely arranged appartments. Pool, gym and restaurant are easily available and the whole place is very family friendly. The rooms (appartment) are spacious and well equipped and basically very quiet. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the room was cleaned everyday very carefully. A handful of further small restaruants (e.g. Pizzeria) can be reached by foot. Parking place for the car is available (and a car is beneficial to reach the place).

Almost nothing. In the kitchen - which was well equipped elsewise - a water cooker (and possibly an esperesso machine ?) would have been nice.

Great place to stay and relax - we really loved our stay at Vale de São Torcato Hotel Rural! Everything was very clean, the bed was huge and super comfortable. Both the bathroom and bedroom were very spacious and well decorated. Having a terrace with our own chairs was another detail we liked and enjoyed. We loved the interior pool and the fact that we had a quiet place to read and relax outside (pool chairs) and inside (living room with tv, board games, books). The staff was another plus - everyone was so kind and helpful. We also liked to have a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, with vegetarian options included!

Lovely place with two great swimming pools, one inside and one out. We really liked the village of Sao Torcato as well, it made a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Porto and the restaurants in the town were really good. The room/facilities were very high quality, the bed was super comfortable. The room had a lovely patio with a swing chair. We had an excellent stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. It's a really relaxing place, perfect for a short break.

The staff in the restaurant were lovely and the food we had was good, but the menu was a bit limited and on the expensive side. However, lots of options locally too so it really didn't matter.

Amazing place to stay! Beautiful surroundings and absolute attention to all the details! Exterior swimming pool with hot salty water and beautiful interior swimming pool! Very relaxing place. Breakfast was good but not outstanding. Not a huge variety but good quality. Mr. José was super friendly and very helpful all the time. All the stuff very polite and friendly. Overall a great place to escape the busy daily routine and enjoy a peaceful break! Recommend!

A very unique hotel. Nicely laid out, great leisure facilities (2 pools, mini golf, sauna, etc)0. And the area was very beautiful. Our room was a great size and private. Very good value for money. Special mentions to Carla and Jose. But all the staff were great.

Only slight disappointment was the gym really. Small and cheap rower. But don't let that put you off

The room was very spacious with modern design and beautiful wood pannelling. There was also a balcony with a hanging chair but unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to sit out. The gardens around the property have been planted beautifully, giving each room a degree of privacy. The outside pool looked great but again, it wasn't warm enough. We were able to borrow an umbrella from Reception.

We arrived on a rainy Sunday and the restaurant was closed, although we did enjoy the meal at Quatro Estacoes in Sao Torcato village. The pool surround at the indoor pool was very slippery and dangerous, and the bean bags not very comfortable (not to mention impossible to get up from!) for some of us older clients. The electric curtain was a nuisance when you couldn't adjust it yourself, it had to be either completely open or closed.
