A delightful property on the edge of the historical core: the rooms are in a refurbished school. Staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was a treat. Easy access to the train station and the center.

Mattresses are worn, but it's a youth hostel!

Maybe our FAVOURITE place to stay ever!! The property itself is so cool and rich in history - right outside the old tannery (amazing archaeological excavations) and only 5 minutes walk from the Main Street/plaza. The rooms were SO BIG with beautiful windows, great furnishings, towels and soap provided.

Everything was just excellent, couldn't have asked for more. Spotlessly clean, amazing buffet breakfast for such cheap price, comfy mattresses, safe, spacious and warm dorm, super quiet, historical building in the town centre, so easy to find. Great showers, vast communal areas, welcoming and helpful lady at the reception who gave me a map and lots of info about Guimaraes. Had a perfect stay and will definitely go again.

Nothing not to like.

It was within easy access and walking distance to the centre of town. My double room was extra large enough for a whole family, has separate shower and toilet and with open windows to see the out view. Good values for money

As it is hostel, there were noise from groups of young guest at night. A bit old so no telly, it would be nice if there was one.

Not so easy to reach the place as need to walk a distance (no car can reach the entrance). The room heater and water heater is not functioning towards the morning. We showered cold water in 3degrees.

The Historic centre is a short walk away. The outside space, and lounge gave lots of options for work, or chilling out. The front looks out on the newly crowned UNESCO World heritage industrial site.

The rooms were not soundproof, so ear plugs are advised.

Free breakfast provided, which isn't often in low-cost arrangements, especially in youth hostels. It isn't much, but it's included in the price and it's good enough to start your day off. The rooms are clean, the beds are soft enough to sleep on. There's a third bed that folds into a comfortable lounge chair, and the provided table and chair allow work in private. The common spaces are also comfortable enough to be able to sit around or even do work. The provided Wi-Fi connection works well enough even for conference video calls. The location is spectacular, as you sleep in the historical center. Everything is very near. The staff is very friendly. Overall this hotel is an easy recommendation if you're not snobby.

Only a few of the youngest Portugese citizens seem to speak English. Most do not care for foreign languages, so communicating with some of the staff can be awkward. The floor in one room can creak if there is somebody walking in the neighboring rooms, creating the illusion that somebody is walking in your room at night! Very uncomfortable feeling. The breakfast is there, but I'd prefer a richer selection of fewer food choices instead of so many options that stay the same every morning. The shower head in the common bathroom is normal, but the one in our room was silly and awkward to use. Changing the water temperature was difficult. The room's windows could be difficult to open and close for weaker guests as they are old and heavy and slide up vertically to open.

Perfect location, right in the centre but very calm, we slept well even with the window open. The room had a good size and was very clean. The small balcony was nice and we had great views. The house is even beautiful from the outside and everything was very calm. Staff was super, super friendly and helpful, amazing! Breakfast was nice with a decent choice, toaster oven, soy milk and lactose free yoghurts. We came early and left late but were able to store our luggage in a safe place.

Great location with a beautiful view. Complimentary breakfast was simple and all you could eat.

This has nothing to do with the Hostel, however, the streets in the City were hard for us to navigate because there is a lack of street signs around the city.

The rooms were really big and there was lots of space in the common area. Friendly staff.

Great to have a kitchen, but it was quite small if more than a few people were in there at once.
