When I got there I was given a room with no view but was moved when I asked to a lovely room overlooking the square. It had big windows that I could open so I did not need to use the air conditioner. The staff were lovely, so accommodating and friendly! A special mention to Beatrice and Gabriel who served me breakfast. Wonderful service and really friendly. The breakfast was excellent! Really set me up for the day. The bed was wonderfully comfortable so I slept well and I loved the fluffy robe that was provided. All in all, a great experience!!

The cupboard was a bit weird, only hanging space and one shelf at the top but not a big deal.

While the room was quite dated, the staff at Hotel Toural more than made up for it, particularly Gabriel and the other gentleman who works at the bar and in the breakfast room. I'm sorry that I didn't catch his name. Speaking of the included a la carte breakfast, it was fabulous. When I mentioned I'm vegan they shocked me by bringing out vegan yogurt and cheese. The next morning they remembered I was vegan and brought out the vegan products before even being asked. While usually made to feel like an imposition for asking about vegan options and workarounds, here the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and happy. Thanks guys. The staff at the front desk was always warm and welcoming too.

Outstanding Breakfast! Incredible and personable waiter/bartender. Our room looked onto Toural Square from which we saw a midnight parade and speech celebrating Portuguese Independence. Central location to the main attractions, we didn't have to walk far.

Hard place to find as the entry is not on Toural Square, but behind. The streets are very narrow with curbs that we had to "hop" to make a turn onto the next street. Guest parking on the street is limited. Bed was a little soft, but O.K.

Absolutely amazing location. The staff were incredible, especially the breakfast team. Wonderful and efficient. Breakfast was enormous! Rooms are huge. I would definitely stay here again. Great value for money.

Rooms are a bit dated and furniture is a little run down. Parking is very tricky. They have a few spaces, however these were full when we arrived. We went inside to check in, and got a ticket in the few minutes we were away. There is no signage about where you need to pay, but there are inspectors stationed at every parking area who dart in and ticket you as soon as you walk away. There is a big parking station only a few minutes walk away. Park there, it's only a few euro per day.

A lovely comfortable hotel in a great position on the edge of the historic centre of guimaraes. The breakfast was first class and serving staff so efficient and accommodating. The hotel staff were very helpful and always very pleasant. I liked the central courtyard and the air conditioned room. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was excellent. Having a fridge in the room was very useful. Hotel parking was also a big plus for us.

A kettle for tea making would be a good addition as would a room safe for valuables.

I had a wonderful experience staying in the hotel Toural. The overall sense of the historical building and the view of the square is pretty cool. The stuff was superb! The receptionist assisted us in applying for lost luggage, and the waiter in the breakfast area was super attentive! The continental breakfast was of high quality. Freshly squized juice, cakes, and omelette were welcomed compared to a low quality buffet. The room was spacious, and the mattress of high quality allowed a good night sleep.

I was looking for the entrance at the square as designated by Google. A sign indicating that it is at the back would be helpful.

The hotel was set in an older building but was very nicely done up inside. Bedrooms were big and comfortable. Location right in the centre of Guimarães was ideal for restaurants and sight seeing. The staff were exceptional - going above and beyond. Everyone was Helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great as well with lots of choices. Ideal for my mum with accessibility needs as property had lifts.

Parking was tricky but hotel staff weee really really helpful

The location was great. but I had trouble locating the hotel entrance so was another hotel gust. I liked the breakfast with freshly cooked eggs and bakery. Unlike most other places, it was a served breakfast. The only down side is the window is blocked by another building next to it. Besides that, I would like to stay again next time.

The house was once own by an important Portuguese writer and has stayed in the family since the XVII century and it still feels as a family home rather than a guest house. You will find a warm hostess, quietness and a beautiful night sky on a clear night.

It's a shame that the grounds need some maintenance and the gardens have not been restored to their former beauty. I imagine in the XXI century it is not cheap for a family to restore what three centuries ago was a wealthy family home. It has the charm a modern hotel can't provide though.
