The hotel is located near the shore, so if you have seaside room you'll get an amazing view on the Atlantic and Pico island across the channel, nice to spend an evening on the balcony with a bottle of Azorean wine and cheese from Sao Gorge). Velas town is small, so everything is within a walking range from the hotel. Rooms and their equipment look a bit 'tired', but ok. Breakfast is excellent, there are hot meals: scrambled eggs, beacon etc — when you read in comments "nothing to eat for vegans" it's usually a reliable indicator that the food should be good))), the same is true for this place.

The hotel organises wedding parties on its grounds without any limits on time and noise. If you are unlucky to stay at the hotel on the same night you won't be able to sleep at all due to loud music, yells of drunk guests and fireworks at 2am. I just don't understand why the management do this while there are other guests in the hotel.

Larger hotel in a peaceful location up the hill, right by the sea. Within walking distance of most places in Velas. I was unlucky with the weather during my short stay, so I couldn’t fully enjoy the view from the small balcony attached to the room or the nice pool area. Spacious bathroom with a lovely bathtub. Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast included.

The location was amazing! The Hotel is right by the sea and all the bedrooms and common areas are built to enjoy the view. The bar, the breakfast room and the pool let you enjoy Pico all day long. Each room has an individual balcony so you can enjoy the sunset! The staff is always very helpful and kind! And you can have crepe with Nutella for breakfast!

The garden with the swimmingpool couldn't be situated better. The view from the balcony in the room was spectacular as well. The walking distance to the restaurants in town is only five minutes (the hotel has none). Breakfast was good. Staff is friendly. You can get towels for the pool at the reception.

The only thing we cannot recommend ist the hotel taxi service. The driver did not bring us exactly to our location but he left us 300 m from the actual place on a very steep hill, so that we had to walk down the steep slope with all our luggage. Either the driver did not dare to drive down or didn't want to, which either way is not a good recommendation.

The view was amazing. Location was excellent. Right across the street from Car Rental. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Walking distance to many good restaurants and natural pool. 10 out of 10 for the staff…when we checked out at 6 am, it was raining so hard, the guy on duty at the front desk drove us to the ferry….(we had planned to walk to the ferry, and had not booked a taxi, so instead of letting us walk in the rain, we were grateful for the offer to drive us…he went above and beyond!!)

We loved our stay at the Hotel Sao Jorge Garden. The location was perfect. The hotel was clean, the staff was very helpful, and the breakfast included was a big added value. We will be back!

We were there for 7 days with the exact same breakfast everyday . Would be nice to have a better variety from day to day . Microwave available to heat up some of the choices . A big No on the cold quiche

A decent hotel. Rooms came to age though. Location is excellent: the view is superb and it is close to the center of Velas. Good breakfast with a lot of choices.
