I think all the bad reviews are coming from people who don't know the difference between Hotel and Hostel. In my opinion this hostel is superb and have all you need (including shared kitchen - small but functional), the rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Additionally the whole building has a very classic woodsy mountain cabin charm and a tiny Wes Anderson vibe. Staff is super friendly and very helpful - thank you Damian for relocating me so that I was able to take care of my back and give it some rest to recover from a muscle pull. I'm already planning to go back again.

Pillows are a bit flat and small plus you get just one, so if you are used to having your head higher to sleep (like I do) - better bring your own extra pillow

Lovely volunteers were welcoming and understanding . Staff were thoughtful and made sure your stay was good. Location was absolutely extraordinary! Loved it so much! Kind and relaxed host, very welcoming Many lovely experiences to have there, like music near the campfire or reading a book and admiring the mountains Homely feel.

Pricing of breakfast/dinner. Far away from grocery shops, but good for an adventure or little hike. Poor wifi, need more wifi around the place.

Only 10 mins from Brunig Hasliberg station. The private room for us had sufficient space and we like the idea of shared space. It is a beautiful house with a lot of aura to it and in the nature. There are hikes nearby too. Hosts also shared their umbrellas with us for couple of days when it was a bit rainy. Enough utensils in the kitchen for us to cook and store things in refrigerator if you are bringing some light groceries to cook. I would recommend not to go overboard with your groceries and keep it light, and be considerate about other guests. Decently cleaned shared washroom and shower.

It was a good space and everything was as advertised. Keep in mind the space is exactly as advertised and they have done a good job with maintenance of house and managing expectations.

Value stay in a very expensive country right off the train stop. Booked last minute and was greeted without problems and given instructions on where my room was. Lovely 2 bed room so we did not have to share a room with others. Only shared bathroom facilities down the hall, which is more than fine. A lovely dining area is available to purchase coffee and breakfast if you please.

The hostel is in a beautiful location for a hike in the woods. It feels like it's far away from everything but its really close to a train station. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Damien was working there and was very hospitable. The kitchen has everything you need to cook.

The wooden stay was a very old town and very good. The kitchen was fully equipped and good. The only thing is it is away from the main city, but that is also good if you like to live a quiet life. We are also able to do stargazing here.

It felt like home! Very nice and friendly staff. This is how classic herberge feels like. Toasty warm living room where everyone meets. 2 dogs and a cat were a bonus. I would recommend to a friend or fellow pilgrim

The location is magical, the owners are very kind and I interesting people. The lobby is fun and a great place to meet fellow travellers. The view is amazing and it is close to lungern and brienz.

There was no air conditioning, and no electricity outlets in the room. There is one bathroom for the whole building, and basically the facilities are not that good, no towels

A wonderful experience in a quiet place with everything beautiful for someone who wants to relax.

Google Maps gives you the wrong way to the hostel. You must contact the hotel to give you the correct way.

the property exceeds my expectations. before booking, read the many negative comments on the web but proceed with booking. the place is clean, Lili is very welcoming, friendly and informative. the room is comfortable and ok. the bathroom is clean. they even have a common area and kids area. the surrounding also is beautiful. the price is really value for money. all the basic needs is good.

the road to enter the place is not in googlemap or waze, so you need to read the instructions that they sent when we booked. but not that difficult but can miss the junction. it is a basic accommodation with good amenities, not a hotel. you need own vehicle to come here.
