Location is very easy for reaching kinabalu park. The place is very complete for backpackers, it has everything you need to cook but also a restaurant and breakfast options. Staff was very helpful with arranging a shared taxi back to KK. Also a little to the left of the happy garden you have a bridge with great view over the mountain on a clear day, that was a nice sunset treat.

I felt lonely as a solo backpacker. During my stay there were mainly big groups of organised tours that were going to climb Mount kinabalu. I would recommend a different hostel closer to the center of Kundasang for socialising. Getting a taxi to kinabalu park from Kundasang is easier than finding company to walk with you from this hostel ;) place could do with a paint job too.

The toilet is cleaned and the bed is comfy.

The glass on the window and door are see-through during night and less uncomfortable especially for the female. The door is only locked only by the knob and hope to have more security on the door locking. The female dorm is the farthest and feel less safe if you are alone at night.

Location is great. It’s an 18 min walk to park Kinabalu. They have a restaurant and the restaurant next to it is very good!! You can see the mountain from there. The bunny garden is cute and the property is spacious and nice.

They have mold in the rooms. I didn’t have any health problems from it and slept lovely but they should do something about it. You also can’t really blame them, since you often find yourself enveloped in a cloud with this location, it’s just a humid region.

Amazing view from the balcony - a morning I won't forget too soon thanks to this! Great walking distance to the park as well. Really good value. Everything in the room beat expectations, I would definitely come back here.

The only decent vegetarian option in the restaurant for a meal was the breakfast set, with no meat added (can take the meat it comes with for the stray dogs, there's a few on the way to the park and in the park). Luckily there were restaurants on the way to the park with great veggie options (recommend the first one as you get on the main road). As other reviews say, the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours even brushing their teeth. All in all, stayed here one night only and definitely didn't bother us.

Firm mattress, clean bedroom free of bugs despite being in the middle of the jungle. Lovely location and setup as long as you don't mind a ton of stairs (It is on a hillside). Not busy - only half the beds in my dorm were filled.

The entire cabin shook when someone in the boys' dorm opened or closed the bathroom door, and when someone was walking up the stairs to the cabin. Staff were not overly flexible, though reasonably polite. Driveway was quite steep, be sure to have confidence in your brakes if planning on parking.

Helpful staff to assist with bus ticket booking and also good food recommendation. The dorm has a very powerful hair dryer which is useful especially during this raining season of Jan. The kitchen is spacious and clean. The location is about 20min walk from Kinabalu Park which is great. Can experience living in the forest area like the native people.

Stayed here for 4 nights here for Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon. Great location, good bed, best view, hot water in the room and friendly staff. I had american breakfast with a reasonable price. There are other menus as well.

The environment, the place

I stayed in capsule. I saw insects getting inside through holes. If can improve it would be better. The second day wifi was down. Harder for me to use phone as phone line was low.

The place totally beyond my expectations, beautiful scenery and I am amazed with the attentiveness of the staff and its such a beautiful place to stay, able enjoy hot coffee in the morning on the balcony, I like the decorations and area where we can take pictures. If I have chance go Kundasang again, surely will stay there again.
