The retreat is in a seclude location so it's perfect for a getaway where you want a quiet ambience with nature. Our cabin is clean with big bedrooms. We came during the winter and the staff provided us with enough heaters, so the night was comfortably warm. The staff is very nice and helpful. There was on-site staff who responded very promptly to our requests. We travelled by car so it was easy to get around. But there is no store or eatery within 10 minute drives, so you'd better eat somewhere else before arriving or bring some food with you (in this case, remember to book a cabin with a kitchenette). There was a campfire at night during our stay but as we were tired from travelling and needed to wake up early the following morning, we did not come to the campfire. All in all, we had a comfortable stay at the retreat during our Hunter Valley visit.
None.

This was our second time here. It's a nice quiet place, set in a bush setting. The owners were very helpful. They set up a fire in the evening and the kids loved making smores. We asked for cleaning supplies for the bbq and they were provided promptly. It's great value for money compared to other places in the area. And it's not too far from the 'touristy' part of hunter valley. We spent the day doing barbeque and playing cricket. Perfect Australia Day holiday.
We saw a couple of cockroaches and spiders in the house. It's a bush setting, so it's not unexpected. A couple of burners on the barbeque weren't working. But nothing that would deter us from staying here again.

Great spacious apartment with 3 bedrooms for 3 families/couples. Great access (short drive) to many wineries and Hunter Valley Gardens as well as Cessnock where you can shop for groceries. It has nice outdoor seating. Beautiful communal fire pit area and very near horses.
The host has declared on the profile that the location is off the grid and cellular network of many operators as well as wifi is not very accessible. This didn't bother us but would be important for those who want to do remote work or need navigation internet. Reception has wifi though.

Very good value, out of town location, breakfast can be included, pet friendly and wonderful staff. Wide range of room types available and if staying for an extended period would recommend a studio or larger as there are no neaby places for lunch / dinner. Bushland setting and facilities makes a good wedding venue with enough rooms to cater for all attending. The continental breakfast option was great value and saved a stop on out way home.
Our basic room have been refreshed some time ago but was very good value.

It was so peaceful, comfortable, and perfect for my needs!! A lovely setting and my room had all that I needed for my stay. When I read the reviews I got nervous but my own experience was amazing and I’ve already rebooked to stay again!!
I was heating soup in the microwave for my meals and it felt carry to be reaching above my head to take hot food out but I was ever-so-thankful to have that facility too. It’s not a fault, just an answer to the question here. I really loved the place!

It was a real pleasure to spend the weekend at Hunter Valley Retreat. The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful — surrounded by fresh air and nature. We absolutely loved the bed, it was super comfortable! We also had a lovely time by the fire pit, sharing special moments in the evening. And the best part? It’s dog-friendly! That made our stay even more special. Thank you for such a relaxing and memorable experience!

Exactly what you want for a weekend getaway. The serenity of nature is absolutely beautiful, with all the wineries of the Hunter Valley being right within stones throw. The fire pit made for an excellent night, with a bag of marshmallows and a glass of red to unwind. We didn't have an opportunity to
When visiting be prepared to detox from your day to day life. Put down your phone and embrace the country lifestyle. It's not an extravagant getaway - but the place does give you everything you need.

Very accommodating with our dog and kids (Villla was so clean you wouldn't know it was pet friendly). It was also great to have so many options for beds with 6 different rooms and 3 toilets, 3 showers and 3 vanities. Beds were also very comfortable and staff were very friendly and accommodating
It would be great to have air conditioning although fans in each room certainly helped.

Beautiful secluded location, quiet and peaceful, clean and spacious apartment with good facilities overall and friendly receptionist.
Decor was a little bit spartan E.g. not many pictures on walls and some missing and the lighting was harsh i.e. no lamps in the living room. Couldn't find a hairdryer. TV couldn't receive many channels and lack of Internet meant no streaming services so we couldn't watch a movie in the evening.

Staff were incredibly friendly. We stayed here to attend a concert at Pokolbin and the transfer buses pick up from the front door which is super convenient. There is a fire pit that gets lit in the evening however it was raining when we were there. There is fast wifi from the reception area but no wifi or phone reception in the rooms. The rooms are tidy and clean
