If you can afford it worth every penny. Nothing was too much, the staff, food, room was excellent. The location was good. Disappointed with beach. I blame myself for that. Book your car parking.

Sidmouth is a beautiful, traditional seaside town surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery. The hotel's location was excellent, right on the seafront. We were upgraded to a sea view room on arrival, which was a lovely surprise, and could hear the sound of the waves lapping the shore when the window was open. The room was elegantly furnished in keeping with the traditional style of the hotel with good attention to detail. We were offered fresh milk on request. The bathroom was spotless and newly refurbished, also with a sea view. Staff were attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. Breakfast was waiter service and beautifully served, with a good selection of options. I especially appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice.
We were there over two of the hottest days so far this year. As our room was on the top floor, it was extremely hot during the night. We could open the sash windows, which gave some air, but were mindful of the seagulls. Closing the curtains during the day helped keep it cooler. We couldn't find a fan in the room, but later learned that we could have asked for one at reception.

My breakfast was perfectly good although I didn't get what I ordered but I couldn't be bothered to do anything about it because I was in a hurry! It mattered not. My room was superb with really nice cotton sheets and everything you could wish for. I was in Room 207 and my only complaint was that at 5.40am on Sunday morning I was woken by footsteps and too-ing and fro-ing immediately above. That continued for an hour or so on and off - I imagine it was a staff member. Having got to bed at about 1am I ended up a touch tired but not emotional! Again, minor in my view.
Nothing - the staff were brilliant and the hotel fantastically old fashioned in its approach - rare and as a result I felt like royalty.

Breakfast was great, evening meals lovely , hotel was extremely clean (big shout out to housekeeping) Staff outstanding , big shout outs to the 2 Thomas's . Owner was also great and very friendly All members of staff made us feel very special and we felt that nothing was too much trouble for them You have an excellent team and should be very proud of them Location is second to none and the live band on Sat was great , we will be back
Wish the hotel had air con in the bedrooms, understand it might not be possible but fans were provided - which helped

Beautifully presented property with attentive staff. Lovely ambiance to the building. The rooms are like going back in time. Decor of your grandmother’s house - luxury all the same. Gorgeous lush carpets, curtains and bed linen . Was confortable and the bathroom was modern and stylishly done.
My room was a single; however, it was a fire door room? The window was the main fire door for the building. It was so hot it didn’t feel safe opening the window - because it opened onto a stairwell and felt like someone could walk into the room from the outside.

Really like travelling back in time. I loved the monogrammed everything including bath robes. I think I had an upgrade from a single room as it was a lovely large room and big bathroom. Really quiet and relaxing. The staff were all super nice as well.
I missed the Seaton Park Run on Saturday as my car had been blocked in the hotel carpark. They double up the cars because of the small space. If you can find a place to park on the roads surrounding this shouldn’t be a problem.

The high level of service, and the extra touches to make my tiny room without a view (107) a very comfortable place in which to stay - bottles water, biscuits, fresh squeezed OJ, bathrobe, Molton Brown toiletries, blankets and feather pillows (monogrammed!) instead of wretched duvets and foam, stationery, face cloth, 24 hour room service, valet parking, excellent afternoon tea, Champagne by the glass, location.......
The TV screen was rather small so not easy to see. At tea I would have liked homemade jam for the scones and a linen napkin rather than paper. Spare plug sockets for my own appliances were not easy to locate. On my wish list would also be a vanity kit so that I had cotton buds!

Didn't have breakfast - overpriced.
Service outside was very hit and miss - drinks orders were slow and it was a lottery if you got the drink you had ordered. It was a hot weekend but on the Saturday evening not enough staff and some people outside left without a drink as no-one came out to take an order. No biscuits in the room which most places provide these days. Some complimentary snacks (nuts etc) with drinks would be good.

The breakfast was amazing! Lovely fruit/yoghurt to start with followed by a full English breakfast, tea/coffee/toast, certainly sets you up for the day! Kippers/omelette/poached cod - all were very tasty. Pastries were fresh, the whole breakfast experience was excellent, with fantastic service. The location of the hotel is perfect, with the promenade/beach opposite, couldn't wish for a better position. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, special shout to to Anthony, the doorman, who was very attentive every time he saw my elderly mother. Waiters/housekeeping/front desk, all made the stay comfortable and special, thank you.
There wasn't anything we could fault during our 3 day stay

Our stay was a very brief 1 night stop-over to break a long journey and we did not have breakfast so can't be too constructive in a review but it was a nice hotel with very friendly staff and looks straight out to sea from the front - thank you for giving us a sea-view room when we had not booked one!!
Everything was fine for us, no complaints (could have been clearer about the parking and the charge for it but that is just feedback)
